Because America and Americans feel insecure. China and Chinese people have been showing the world what a real county looks like and the AMericans are very disturbed by it.
Yeah covid was a real showcase. Same with the forced ‘educational’ camps. Real world! Still over 5 million slaves. Poor Peng Shuai and the 1 million Tibetsn children forced from home. With all that bulldozing of historical neighbourhoods, only soulless high rises will be the real world.
As an American, of course I know that the US has a lot of issues. But is there a perfect country? Does China have only positives, or also negatives? It would be interesting to know about both, assuming there are both.
@@wkrp01 You know that everything that is written or talked about China by most western media and individuals is negative. It is not that there is any perfect country. It is that the western narrative America all good and Chona and certain other countries all bad. I am contending that in term of the age of the civilizations, America has never stop starting wars, overthrowing governments and interfering in the internal affairs of the nations across the global. China is not perfect, but it never had chattel slavery, it has not colonized any other country and it has not dropped any bombs on any foreign nation. Surely, compared with American and other western countries, their history is all about segregation, bigotry, wars, invasion, occupation and conflicts. This not an opinion, the facts are there for anyone read and learn.
Dear Lizzy. A wonderful video. Thank you. My wife and I have been to China twice in the past decade and seen what you have seen. The West is in possibly terminal decline while China is developing fast. The scary thing is not China, but what the jealousy of the West, led by the USA, might lead it to do to try to stop China taking over. As stated by one commenter, only criminals need fear cameras, just as only speeders need fear speed cameras. We lived in the UK and yes, cameras everywhere, but still that once proud nation is declining. What makes China great is not cameras but the people who are rightly proud to be Chinese. I wish you and your mum well in China. Cheers from New Zealand.
The following article is written by Ismail Bashmori, he is an Egyptian China watcher. The truth is that China is the greatest country on the face of the earth. It makes all other countries look insignificant and contemptible. It is the most brilliant, most industrious, most ambitious, most educated, meritocratic and technocratic, most modern, sophisticated, and civilised, and best-governed by far. It is the first non-white, non-Western country to reach this status since the 1600s. The determination of this country is indescribable. Supernatural. There is no force that can stop it from accomplishing anything it wants to do. 。 It doesn’t matter who we are. Egyptians, Syrians, Pakistanis, Indians, Africans, even Americans. Next to the Chinese, we are pathetic. We can’t do what they do. We would have a mountain, an Everest of changes to make, and we would whine and bicker and fail at every one of them. China’s story since the 1980s has been one of an almost divine metamorphosis. 。 Next to China the entire Western world from Alaska to New Zealand has stagnated. Next to China the entire developing world from Brazil to Madagascar has progressed only at a crawl. China is the mother of all gargantuan bullet trains. Every day it manages to create something new and astonishing. And unlike the United States, unlike the British Empire, unlike the French, Dutch, Germans, Spanish, Portuguese or any other Western nation that had its turn at being a superpower in the past four centuries, China doesn’t need to run anybody over or take something from somebody else, to rise majestically. China is also standing up to the West all by herself. The West can’t believe their four-hundred-year-old global supremacy is being challenged. They hoped that the more China developed, the more it would submit to their influence, interests, and leadership. That didn’t happen. So now they will do anything possible, short of a nuclear war, to make China end. Their goal is to destroy this country. That’s why, although the United States has killed several million people and turned several regions of the earth into hellscapes. China is the worst fear of our planet’s Western masters. They want you to despise and dread a country that’s done nothing to you, that hasn’t invaded anyone, bombed or sanctioned anyone, that hasn’t overthrown any foreign government, or used its military on anything since 1979. China is the only major country in the nonwhite developing world, to stand up to the West. To look it in the eye when challenged or threatened. The Global South are simply Western puppets who submitted long ago. Even the most powerful ones. Saudi Arabia, Brazil, India. As someone from Singapore, I can say that we've more cameras per capita than China. That's the reason why Singapore is one of the safest country in the world. Fact is we support more cameras as our safety is way more important than our privacy etc. As long as we are law abiding what is there to fear?
If people want to know more about China, then I would say go and visit. Find out for yourself what China's actually like and don't pay attention to the nonsense pumped out by Western Media. I've been going to China to see my wife's family and travel around the country for over 10 years. I found the country to very safe to visit, people are really friendly, food is great it's a fantastic country to visit. When people mention the camera issue I say, wander around your town or city and look out for the cameras, you'll be surprised how many there are in Western cities and towns. The difference is you don't notice them in your own country because you're not looking for them. I also think Western people think they're important enough to be followed. Chinese authorities couldn't care less about the majority of people, unless you're up to no good. Where's that Shopping mall, as I wanna see the bridge as it looks like a copy of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
It's not true, criminals in the US are not afraid of cameras, just watch all the crimes committed and captured on cameras. There's no persecution, and if you stop them, you will be persecuted instead. It seems like it's a crime to stop a crime!!. Amazing!!!
With cameras comes security. You are protected as a citizen. You have your rights and privilege to walk the streets without fear. With Cameras the police and authorities can help you to fight against villains
even hear a chinese proverb: 远水救不了近火,远水解不了近渴。never assume that there is a cctv and let your guard down, catching a thief on blur 240p cctv is a hard thing to do but if the cctv has 1080p, then your hopes are much improved but still hard luck. 防人之心不可无,be vigilant at all times than depend on the policemen.
It's only a matter of time until you learn that the camera also tracks your everyday activities, literally. The government has already had their hands to your own very life now. Congrats.
@@jamilgonzaga7081 thats the biggest joke. Only criminals worry about being track or trace. Its tragic how normal Americans have no brains to think. 1.4b citizens, out of the many how many were authorities and police? You mean to say the authorities trace your every move? Are u a superstar? What do they do with your information? Americans create fake stories to start a war. Dirty history
@@jamilgonzaga7081So do Western governments. They know where you are at all times because most of you carry cell phones. They know what you purchased to the item. They see every email you send. Every text message. Every photo you take. Everything you say on your phone is monitored. They can even, if they like listen and see what you phone camera sees without you knowing. With technology nothing you do electronically is private.
Having met Lizzy in China (well done officiating that wedding! ;) hehe) on my very first visit to China, I can 100% agree with her: it was amazing and all the anti-rhetoric crap in the western world is nonsense. See you again in China soon, Lizzy
as someone who is proficient in both English and Chinese, travels widely across the world, spending extended time everywhere, I can only say that the West, in particular America, is way more ignorant about what is happening around the world, than the rest of the world. Such irony, but the most censorship of media actually happens in the US and the UK. Average Americans hardly have any proper access to world news - the channels are flooded and saturated with domestic content, or endless talk shows or "expert analysis" of China. Truly the most insular, ignorant, stupid, insecure, yet arrogant societies I know.
It is so sad that the people who write the negative comments, have never left their own country. My recent trip mid January 2024 till March was just one of hundreds over a thirteen year period. I am not a vlogger by any means, I have been in more trouble with my comments on YT than I need and if I made videos mine would not get out LoL. I speak my mind about the truth and the lies. I agree about the cameras, here in Australia we are having more installed to look into your car and see where your phone is! All our cameras are for generating revenue for the government, not the safety of the people. Yet, they talk ill about China and having cameras that just record for a period of time and then it writes over that data, starting again. There is one thing you cannot video or photograph direct and I experienced that in 2015. I was in Beijing and I saw the Honour Guard at the flag flying ceremony on Chinese new years day. As a retired soldier, I wanted to get a photo of these young men looking all sharp and tidy, but I was not allowed. I could however take a picture of them as they marched past. It has something to do with direct person images I think. I was not yelled at, just a friendly hand was put up in the stop position and waved in a motion to indicate stop. The soldier who stopped me, explained the situation nicely and it was not just me but also Chinese nationals as well. He took us to a place where we could get a good photo or video of them as they were marching back, said to wait there and he would come and tell us when. Try taking photos of any military people or equipment in other countries, like the UK, USA, Canada or Australia. Having been a serviceman, I know the real truth about what the rules are. They are no different! My travel this year, as it was a short stay, I took out full travel insurance. The cost for China is half the price for travel to the America's. The reason is again the safety aspect of the country, and yet Australia has a "Consider your need to Travel" warning for China! Why are the Insurance companies not doing the same? There is a 75% chance of being shot, mugged, knifed or robbed at the very minimum if you visit any part of the America's. The worst is you will come home in a body bag. This simply does not happen in China, but it does happen in the minds of the politically disturbed people who put out stupid negative information to the masses...who are so gullible as to believe everything they hear without seeing for themselves. More people are breaking the bonds of these lies and seeking the truth, only through this can we end the warmongers reign on our societies. Spreading the good news, truth and experiences that have touched our lives.
Totally support you and thank for sharing your real and first hand experience of China! I am a Chinese born in HK and like that Canadian youtuber you had mentioned, was scared to travel to China and worried I will be caught and disappear without a trace. But recent years, I started to travel more to China and since then, I just keep travel to China, mostly the Great Bay Area and thoroughly enjoyed it ! To doubters and haters, come over and experience it for yourself with your very eyes and tell us whether China is like what most western media is brainwashing you!!!
Too bad so many in HK wilfully blind themselves and refuse to visit the mainland. They keep telling themselves outdated concepts about Communism, like it’s still the 1970s.
In 2001, i booked a holiday trip to Moscow during the summer. Everyone in my family including friends said it was a bad idea to go to Russia., They said i was going to be kidnapped and put in a gulag!! In fact the pressure not to go was just too much that i would've cancelled the trip ifi could get a refund. But i went and it was the best holiday have ever had!! ive since been there six more times. The western media main interest is to create fear!!! Have also been to china!!
Yeah americans are "putting their people" in office, everywhere. Or at least they are "letting in people" who they have by the balls, with their CIA and Israeli secret services tactics. 🤫
As someone who used to go to China for business from the 1980's and saw the poverty in China with my own eyes. I am in awe of the Chinese government for lifting nearly a billion people out of poverty during my lifetime. I literally saw the Chinese people lifted out of abject poverty to a relatively wealthy position in less than 20 years. At the same time I have watched people in Western states losing their wealth to their non tax paying wealthy citizens. I have lived in London for nearly 60 years and I have never seen so many people in the UK struggle to feed, clothe and house their families.
I heard english people complaining about the cameras in China ( from the UK... ), it is funny because the city with the highest number of cameras par residents in the world is London 😆
that's what happens to sexpats (he went to Asia to prey on easy women, see his early videos when he wasn't being paid to attack China), who had a bad experience in a foreign country and their racist nature comes out in full force. it's worse because there are gullible people(many of whom are already racists to begin with), believe his lies because they don't know better.
In one of his earlier videos Serpenza said he would like to work for CIA! Can you imagine the idiot? 😂 He enjoyed Chinese hospitality for years and then started to spit on China. What a slug.
You are so right in this, Lizzie. I recently had a conversation with an acquaintance and although he was keen to travel through Asia he did say china as too dangerous. I asked him how he knew and really he couldn't answer me though it was clear that it was all based on mainstream media. I was rather disgusted by the degree of bigotry. In Australia it is common though to encounter this sort of hatred and bigotry towards China.
Western governments and the CIA are particularly good at controlling public opinion, after all, public opinion warfare is their invention, and they are organized to mobilize the vast majority of media to release fake news they concoct at the same time. Such ignorant ordinary people, no matter which TV station they turn to, have similar content, which will make them mistakenly believe that this matter is true.
Lizzy, you should get one million “likes” for this video for telling the truth that China is safe, that you are not under surveillance and that cameras are installed for a safe environment.
The 144 hour transit visa is a very good idea, because it allows more people whom otherwise would never bothered to come to China. It also makes the western media lies harder to hold water.
When we speak of "western media", we refer to BBC, CNN, Fox News, DW....she is not one of them and she is a vlogger that tells the truth. @@theasianjaywalker4455

if thats the bald canadian guy with an asian wife, i think i watched his vlogs - they both seem very nice & polite ppl - i enjoyed their travel vlogs :)
because that's not how things work in the west. The cops don't solve most small crimes, they'll let criminals roam free. The only purpose for cameras in the west is surveillance
@@bobsmith3983 If you want to become a politician and serve your country in that way, but you go against the governments ways, they will use everything you say or do against you. They will use you picking your nose even for bad propaganda, they will use you doing some thing in public and taking it out of context.
The hate and vitriol that Ottawa spews about China is driven by Washington’s control over Canada. If I were younger, I would live in China, a country I so much admire! We have so much to learn from the Chinese, yet we think we are on top. Makes one laugh.
Honestly, if those cameras keep you from getting mugged or even killed while you are walking on the street, I'll say what the heck! Be my guest ! Why not?! Some people might argue that it violates privacy, I am like, seriously?! Are you seriously asking for privacy in an open public?! It's amazing how dumb some people can get!
Its been a month i came here. I felt the same way about cameras first. But then i realised they are actually for our own safety. Starting to love this country and how they do things here.
Thanks Lizzy you gain my respect whatever good or bad you think about China as you were there to share what you saw and experienced. For those CNN,BBC supporters , I will also do respect you if you find a chance come to China and prove what you believe.
I too, had the same fears filming my trip around Southern China (it's on RU-vid btw) in fall of 2019. Found no one questioned or stopped me & I'm ethnic Chinese Canadian so they could easily assume I was a local citizen. During the Hong Kong riots, I was also afraid to film around there too as I was told if I spoke Mandarin (I don't), some people would think I was spy from the Mainland. Nothing happened. Realised these fears were totally exaggerated, if not media propaganda.
These cameras and CCTV just make me feel safer. Imagine if something bad happened to you on the street. The police can use these things to track and catch the criminals. I’m living in Australia. My friend was attacked by teenagers on the street. Police only ask some questions and that’s all.
Thank you Lizzy! I am very happy for having subscribed to your channel! I might have a few questions about how to go there and how to make a living as a foreigner! Thank you, you & Emma! Carry on making these amazing videos showing the REAL China!
My parents always warned me when I was a toddler, not to dig too far down when digging for gold in the backyard. They warned me if I dug too far I would be in China. Sometimes I wondered how far I would have to dig to get there.
Your parents were right at that time. Being in China was a nightmare 50 years ago. But now, after retirement, I travel a lot from Hong Kong to Mainland China to enjoy my vacations, already at least 10 times in recent months.
The chances of me getting out of Canada are slim to nil... But I value you and other RU-vid vlogers who post to the internet. Thank you a million times over... Cheers
I wrote this today for Gweilo who is Canadian and lives in Nanning, China and is worrying about world war. "Wherever I lay my hat, that's my home". It was the Russians that researched nuclear war decades ago and told the world and the Americans, that if a nuclear war took place, nothing would survive. The book and film On the Beach with Ava Gardener described it very well. Oblivion. Russia and the USA are spending hundreds of millions of their own currencies in the Ukraine. The owners of the factories that make the weapons are the Mega -rich, the 1% that are selfish and do not give a damn about the Peasants. (Me). The politician's who tag along with them are professional liars and cheats by definition. China is observing the destruction of the two super powers and will not be dragged into a pointless war with a poor outcome. Every year Pfizer's informs the people of the USA that another two Flu viruses are coming from China. Not Laos, or Cambodia or Nepal or Siberia, and by magic they produce two vaccines to sell to them. Nobody ever mentions the Protocols involved in producing a vaccine, a minimum of 7 yrs. Oops, they created one for Corona Virus that we have known about for over 26yrs and is directly related to the Common Common Cold viruses not Sars. Stay where you are and look after your friends."
What I am excited for when it comes to China is what they are doing in the science and engineer fields. China said they will mass produce humanoid robots next year and land a man on the Moon by 2030 or maybe 2029. Also, what they are doing in the semiconductor industry, like the particle accelerator to build chips, reusable rockets, nuclear fusion, and so on. China in general is already amazing to me, but what I am really excited for is what they do in the tech sector.
There is an old Chinese saying that can be applied to the camera issue that many foreigners misunderstand and worry about. “君子坦荡荡,小人长戚戚”which is means that a decent, honest and kind person will not be afraid of cameras, because for him, it is a kind of protection that keeps him away from dangerous infringements. For those who have evil intentions and want to commit crimes, cameras are obstacles and shackles that prevent them from committing crimes or hiding. Therefore, the vast majority of normal Chinese people never care whether the cameras on the road or around them have captured them. As long as they abide by the law and live and work with kindness, the police or the government may never have trouble with them through cameras in their lifetime. There is also an old Chinese saying:"平生不做亏心事,夜半不怕鬼敲门" If you don't do bad things in your life, you won't be afraid of ghosts knocking on your door in the middle of the night.
As a chinese born in Hong Kong, I don“t recommend western people to go to mainland China. It is because this place is very advanced in technology and the outdated western people cannot early adapt this.
Thanks Lizzy, for sharing your truth and assuring talks.🤗👍 China is definitely, safe and welcoming. It's also clean, beautiful & modern/ convenient, be here... How I wish to be able to visit it again, I was there @ 1917.🤩👍🤗
I'm visiting in Kunming, for the first time in China. My son requested a wheelchair at the train station when we arrived. He was escorted to the metro by a volunteer and met by another volunteer with a wheelchair at our transfer point ! I couldn't believe the service and helpfulness level.
China is safe with or without cameras. High technology needs cameras with face recognition, autonomous driving, etc. London and other Western cities have more cameras. London is the city with the highest number of cameras per capita and yet it is rife with crimes. In the US, they just rob, and their acts are always captured on cameras. So, it is not just the cameras. In East Asia, the culture is different, not like in the West/US.
in China, it is crucial not to infringe on the personal will of others. as long as everyone does not harm or infringe on others, no one will be harmed. freedom is not about doing what you want, but only when you are safe, you will be free.
China is more freedom than North Korea inside the Communist party countries and right now five European countries are Frsnce, Germany, Spain, Netherlands and Italy people and children no need visa can come to China and the three southeast asian countries are Singapore, Malaysia and then from March 1st for Thailand people and children no need visa can come to China for tour can choose go by your own or join tour group not like North Korea only join tour group go inside not allowed go travel by your own into North Korea is not like China can travel by your own or join tour there inside the Communist party country in China is freely there and more freedom.
@@lizzyinchina yes, I do watch them..... they are as good as you, but since they do not live in China it took them the first touch in Shanghai to start loving it. They also visited Harbin, and Xi'an.... also Hong Kong and Macau.
Well, as a Chinese who studied aboard I've got used to people happily holding their biases tight. The myth of "social credits" always get me speechless as well. On the other hand, there are also many Chinese who think the US is too dangerous to visit since you might be randomly shot dead. (Sometimes this might happen, but really, not that often.) It just seems hard for people not to follow the media or online information blindly.
Dear Lizzy! Amazing videos of China! People are SO FULL of BS! In London you have such cameras everywhere! Do we see anyone complaining? NO! Thanks! Carry on with such a nice job making videos!
What lies against Chinese cities, culture , food, metros…..99% of articles say China is safe. You lot always moan about the 1%. The most bashed nation is US.
Thank you for telling the truth. I sincerely hope that one day, Western countries can compete with other countries with sportsmanship instead of using despicable lies to discredit competitors and provoke wars.
Me as a Taiwanese who visit China several times a year can tell y'all: China is one of the safest country in the world. Not even pickpocket on the most chaotic area. I travel a lot for business. Just been to Frankfurt, and lived around HBF. It was terrible. I shared the info with clients from multiple EU countries. They all agree that their main city is not as good as before anymore. What a pity. For those who has stereotype for what you never try to understand, I also feel pity for them.
The last time I was mugged in China was in 2012, where there was no security cameras on the spot. Now with them cameras everywhere in major Chinese cities, I feel very safe walking around and leaving my stuff unattended in public.
@@lizzyinchina My memories of China: First visit, crossing from HK to Shenzhen in early 1980s.. Small town. Mao garbed officials chat among themselves while making us wait at the immigration counters. Mao garbed customs officers slightly more hardworking as there are many people helping to bring in Japanese motorbikes and TVs into China. Pocket money to be made. Mao garbed sales assistants in silk government owned silk stores chat among themselves and gave us sulky looks when we asked about the items. Subsequent visits in the early 2000s were very different. Smartly uniformed immigration and customs officers at airports clear the queues very quickly. Smartly suited sales assistants at modern mega silk stores were very polite, and aggressive in selling their stuff, making sure you don't leave the store without buying something
