The first half of season 6 all the way up to the episode where they defend Alexandria has got to be some of the best episodes of the show. I was also shocked and so sad when Nicholas killed himself because they set up his redemption so well.

I really liked Tyrese, he doesn't get enough love. His death was both awful and great. As a guy that had fought through a group of walkers with just a hammer, him getting bit like that felt cheap. But, him dying somewhat peacefully surrounded by his new family was really beautifully done. He was so underrated, such a great man; diplomatic, kind, strong-willed, calm. He seemed like the type to make anyone feel at home, I wish we could've had him around a little bit longer.

I love the way the show Once Upon a Time does flashbacks. In that show, every episode has a flashback dedicated to giving more context on whatever is currently happen, and instead of using a filter or other editing tricks, the characters costume/wardrobe and design are so drastically different that it's easy to distinguish the two.

The season 7 premiere was also strange. On one hand, it was well made, is one of the most intense episodes of the show, and is a favorite by fans. On the other hand, people were upset by numerous things such as the cliffhanger, Glenn dying, the deaths being too brutal, and the episode being too intense to hand. Probably the most divisive season premiere.

I wasn’t a fan of the black and white mixed timeline this episode. The black and white aspect never shows up again and isn’t really needed when TWD has done this back and forth timeline before without issue. As for the mixed timeline? Well, it does have some benefits such as seeing some prep for the horde before seeing what happens at that section of the prided Piper trail, but honestly I think the episode would’ve been fine if it was linear. But the biggest problem with this mixed timeline is we’re robbed of a scene between Rick and Morgan where we left off at the end of season 5. Yes, we still get that scene, but it just doesn’t hit the same as Rick and Morgan discussing what’s happened with both parties with a dead Pete on the ground between them Oh, and I forgot to mention how rushed the Alexandrian rebellion story arc just is in this episode. Where in the comic it’s with Nickolas over the span of several issues, with this it’s some rando character we’re just introduced who’s character development is rushed and is offed by the end of the episode. Hell, I bet many of you forgot it even happened since it was over so fast.

8:16 I was thinking probably 2 years because of the time skip from the end of season 2 to the start of season 3 where Michonne says she and Andrea where staying in the meat freezer in the Winter for like 7/8 months and when we pick up in season 3 it's in the Summer and the ending of the season looks to be in Fall. In season 4 it takes place 6 months after season 3 and it's likely in spring. Then after season 4, season 5 takes place immediately after the season 4 finale and season 6 picks after 5. Season 1&2 end of Summer and into Fall. (2010) Season 3: 7 to 8 months after S1 & S2 and takes place in Summer and end of season takes place in Fall. (2011) Season 4: 6 months after S3 and rest takes place in Spring. (2012) Season 5: Takes place immediately after S4 and after beth dies there's a week time skip, probably some time skip while staying in Alexandria. (2012) Season 6: picks up after the finale. (2012)

The Walking Dead Timeline needs an adjustment. It has been confirmed that Carl was 14 years old in "30 Days Without An Accident." Which means that if the Apocalypse started in 2010, that means it's 2012 in Season 4. Yet Maggie's kid Hershel was born in 2012 according to the Wiki. Seriously, we need an official readjustment as Carl was not 14 when he died, more like 17/18. Shit's kinda out of whack.

There is never any major timeskips after season 4 until season 9’s timeskip which is confirmed to be a little over 3 years in. So while it is kinda strange, it makes sense that Hershel was born in 2012 (between s8 and s9).

I will say I loved the use of black and white for the flashbacks because it took me back to the OG comics and I thought that was like a nice way to incorporate that aspect of the comics and I wish they would actually try to do it again. Maybe for a tales of a walking dead or something.

I remember liking this episode a lot. I think that the black and white made sense since during that period of the show I had a lot of trouble keeping track of all the new characters and plot point, and at the start of a new season where flashbacks aren't VERY clear I'd end of thinking I've just missed a chunk of episodes. It is a bit jarring to use black and white for only that episode. but I think it worked nonetheless. My favorite episodes are ones like this where the team is trying to make something happen or executing a plan, more so than the villain arcs.

Fantastic as always! The Black and white thing was weird but another interpretation could be a callback to the comic being black and white. It was also jarring because any black and white scene from this ep in the TRAILER was in color. I remember Rick pointing the gun at Carter in the trailer and it was in color. That was odd. For the next video. I love this one. 30 Days Without an Accident. It is one of the few eps that show things going good for the group. I think it is different from most of the early eps because of that. It is so sad because they built an awesome oasis and were taking people in. If it wasn't for the flu and Governor they could have built their own Alexandria and never needed to migrate.

I love how this episode (and its stretch) defied expectations. Carter was set up to be a half-season long villain, had great development in the episode, and then was killed in the same episode; this is a major trend for this season with great one-episode characters. Then there's Glenn and Nicholas. Start of a development for them patching things up, only to kill Nicholas off in a shocking method in his next appearance. And, of course, there's the many Alexandrians (this ties into "Thank You" as well). First Barnes (who, for some reason, is credited as a guest star while David's actor is not, even though Barnes does nothing... who did Justin Miles 'please' to get that billing?), then Sturgess, Annie, and then David. While watching, I kept thinking at least one would survive or "maybe David will make it back to see his wife", only to have those hopes crushed and then suddenly remember we saw the latter two die in the trailer and I completely forgot. Such stellar character development in the first 6 episodes alone; each one as good, if not better, than the last

I actually liked the black and white for the flashbacks, because I started getting really confused with all the flashbacks and timeskips in the last few seasons. I hate flashbacks in general, though, I'd rather they just tell us the story in order instead of timeskipping a bunch and then telling us in a million flashbacks. Why even timeskip at all if there's a bunch of story in-between that you still want to tell ?

Strangely enough, First Time Again was the first episode of TWD I ever watched. I had read a great deal of the comics and so when my friends (who had been watching since season 1) asked me if I wanted to check out the season 6 premiere I was totally up for it. Obviously I knew I'd be slightly confused, accounting for character fate changes and different takes on the source material etc. But the one thing that really confused me was the colour switching because its the only episode they ever use it. But because it was my first episode I thought every episode was like that and thought that was actually a pretty interesting idea. I like black and white as a cinematic choice, and I thought they were doing it that way (before I realised this episode was unique in that regard) because the comics are originally drawn in solid black and white... so you can imagine my surprise when I pointed this comic book colour scheme fact out to my friends and they all went... "yeah... this is the first time they've done the black and white thing... every other episode up to now has been in full colour"... I was like "whaaaaat??" Season 5, technically my favourite season, but season 6 is special to me. No Way out, best episode of the entire series in my opinion but my personal favourite, due to my bewildering experience with it, First Time Again ❤

yeah you can't compare season 6 and 7 premiere about the confusing part. There was a big notable wall between the present and flashbacks in season 7, 2 different locations and only 2! 1 location only with Negan and Rick with the axe stuff, and the crime scene where Negan kills our duo. Also the blood on ricks face meant post Abraham. In season 6 the locations are used both for the present and past, with all the characters both acting in both time periods. That's why I think the black and white, was useful and kinda cool. At first I didn't tho

OR (kinda contradictory BUT), maybe I wanted him to be with the Negan Lucille scene at the start of season 7 like in the comics I think, and maybe he could have caught the Abraham or Glenn death. Bc I think it was too much to kill both such big characters, although the shock was insane, so if you wanted to keep the shock of the second kill, maybe kill Heath iso Glenn. He is indeed a likeable character where the viewers would feel bad for. But he is no Glenn.

The problem I have with the black and white is that its only used on one episode one time in the entire series which makes it seem more gimmicky than artistic.

I must say when it came out I was rather unsatisfied with how they handled Morgan's return. Maybe ending on a cliffhanger the moment they see eachother again just killed it for me but it just didnt hit as hard as I felt it needed to. edit: I actually posted this before I heard you say basically the same thing in the video lmao good to know im not alone

To be completely honest, I never understood why everyone enjoyed the first half of Season 6 so much. I enjoyed the (2 or 3?) episodes involving the walkers getting into Alexandria, and thats about it really. To me at least, Season 6A is just as slow and grueling, until the end at least, as the 4 episodes around Grady Memorial in Season 5A. Both have great endings, but are fairly uneventful in the middle, at least in my opinion

This is arguably my favorite episode in the entire series, with the exceptions of 10x12 walk with us and 2x12 better angels

There's no way Carter's death being edited the way it was was unintentional.

First half of Season 6 is actually one of my least favorite parts of the entire show. On my rewatch of the series these episodes really just dragged on for me. Even had to skip one. I really dislike the entire herd plot and makes our characters look stupid. Whole time I'm just sitting there like "What where they thinking...."
