Why Fortnite Stopped LIVE Events and Lore

I wish Epic didn't cut Chapter 3 in half.

I play Fortnite, for Fortnite. If I want to play Roblox, I go to damn Roblox. I want to log into a game that doesn’t feel like a search engine. God damn you Sweeney, the lore was the main focus of my interest in this game. So much time theorizing, so much time collecting the storyline characters, for naught.

Don't forget how Epic like, fired 800+ employees a while back. They COULD have had an event team still, but nope.

“And not everyone at epic agrees with that” this just goes to show how disconnected epic is from the community. They have this grand vision that just completely goes against what the fans came for in the first place.

The storyline is what kept Fortnite alive.

As someone who loved the storyline of Fortnite, I am sad, but not surprised and for anyone who does want to know the lore but got confused after chapter 3 here is a summary by me from what I know After the chrome blew up the chapter 2 and three Island. The zero point fled to a different location to not be found by the last reality and then The Paradigm initiated zero fusion, pulling multiple parts of different realities to where the zero point is to create a new island. One of those being a reality that held a faction called The Oathbound that was Geno’s (the leader of the IO) original faction that he left a snapshot of himself in the charge of. The snapshot used a new material called kinetic ore to build a rift gate to explore new realities. He tasked his rift warden to do it, who is being given nightmares by The Nothing to make the gate. A.I.M.M.E. The Scientist’s AI sabotages the rift gate to try and find The Seven. And then doing so caused mega city to appear on the map, which of many other things brought in two members of The Last Reality. Then they combine their powers to reveal the jungle under the center of the map, which held Dr. Sloan and the chalice of Cubetastrophe. Using a map they left her doctor Sloan found out that The Last Reality was on their way to destroy the island again, but she also found out that a time traveling vampire was on his way, so she contacted an old friend to steal the time machine, which she then sent John Jones back in time to chapter 1, season five to prepare For the arrival of The Scientist, but at the same time the Last Reality in the past knew something was up, instead of exploding the cube to bring down a chunk of the ice moon onto the island. It stayed there until season 10 slowly pulling out zero point. Once The Scientist arrived, they finish building the rocket and strapped the time machine to it, they use the power of the Time Machine powered by the rifts from the rocket to overload zero point once again But in a different way so instead of condensing into a black hole and then chapter 2, it explodes in two a new Big Bang making it so instead of zero point be connected to just reality zero it’s meshed with other worlds like rocket racing open world, and LEGO Fortnite. The IO moved to a connected reality to laid low for a while. While Jones stays on reality zero. This new island has two factions the society and the underground the leader of the society, Valeria, found a Ruby relic from an old God that gave her fire powers, but she wanted more so she kidnapped Peely to try and get information from Jones. She was looking for the zero point, and thought it might be in Pandora’s box, but instead she released the gods of Olympus and the underworld who were trapped there long ago, after Zeus gained a hatred for mortals after it was prophesies they would destroy him

“The story retired for the metaverse” is… so, so sad. Vibin was a great season and it had some fun lore

I still think there’s still a story but the days of seven is gone

We don't want a metaverse we just want fortnite to stick to its roots as a battle royale game how it used to be

The fact that this officially confirmed that Battle Royale Story is now finished and that almost everything that Tim Sweeney said in SypherPK Interviews was all a freaking lie and that they are telling us to move on from the BR Story and move to the Metaverse storyline just like they did to Save The World story as they also told us to move on from that game mode story

Yeah, I've been thinking lately that Fortnite has been spreading its development resources too thin across all of the new game modes. The stability of the software and the creativity of new cosmetics have suffered a lot. It's truly disappointing what Fortnite has done to itself.

This pretty much confirms what I’ve been thinking for a while now. Ever since chapter 5 came out it’s felt like Fortnite 2. Chapter 3 and 4 felt rushed and cut short like they were trying to hurry up and get to 5. It’s weird though that they’re being so vague about it. I kind of wish they would just come out and say the storyline is over and we’re making something new here, because otherwise you still have old players who are incredibly confused as to why everything isn’t like chapter 1 Edit: I actually don’t mind the whole metaverse thing. I just don’t like the incredible amount of loose ends there are. At least they kind of put a bow on Midas, but we never even got to see Geno

All they have to do is look at the amount of players that logged in every few hours on the hour just to watch an earthquake in the hopes of the Titan hand emerging. All of the streamers that were hyping up the Titan hand for us. The community was all together for 48 hours speculating when the hand would actually pop. That's not to mention once it popped how much of the community were trying to take it down. That was the most Fortnite has felt like Fortnite for all of Chapter 5 so far.

If the leaked roadmap is accurate what the hell is the chapter 2 og season gonna be like without a live event?

I loved Fortnite because of the Lore. And it's sad to know that it's dead, all because they wanted to go Meta.😢

The thing is I remember that Fortnite wanted to make a new chapter for bigger live events but after chapter 2 the maps didn’t have the live event feel to them.

I started Fortnite for the story i been hanging in there lol but if story is gone i play this game less and less 🤷🏽‍♂️

My theory is, that Donald could’ve left because epic was so focused on making their whole metaverse, as you can see here at 1:29 now it’s just a theory but it’s also a possibility

It really sucks. I’ve been a big storyline guy ever since I heard of it. Now know that it’s most likely gonna fade away hurts me, and I think we need to take action. If we even can at all 😢

Honestly...the storyline was starting to get too complicated towards the end. A lot of factions and characters being added too often made the lore too large and too fast. I think Epic should've had a "summary" explaining what happened each chapter so this way everyone was on the same page before a new chapter/season began. But leaving the story open for RU-vid videos to discuss made it difficult to have one linear story

I’ll just say that I’ll always miss the old Fortnite. Fortnite will become the ultimate advertisement and the greatest money maker in gaming history, but I think Fortnite’s humble beginnings will always be what the game truly is at its core.

Fortnite Lore isn't over. There's a story tab in the quests section in game. If there isn't lore then the story quests shouldn't exist post chapter 3 season 3.

If they really want to have many different modes in a metaverse why not make a fortnite story mode where u can play the br storty from the beginning till now different to save the world as that story is separate to the br one.

Due to the gods on the island right now I know that the storyline is still going to happen I'd be shocked if fortnite removed the lore 😔

dude if they want a metaverse or something actually promote varied experiences, not just buildfights and obby maps. I mean barely ANYBODY plays stuff other then br and other epic made modes.

I started playing Chapter 2 Season 1. Unfortunately I do think that the storyline has gone downhill but I’m loving the new game modes. Just wish they would work with the fans and players to help guide the direction more.

Fortnite is supposed to be a fun sandbox game where you can enjoy playing matches with other players. What makes them think, "making a metaverse" would work when so many games have already tried it but failed miserably. At least some of the metaverse type stuff kind of made sense in some games like Roblox but why should there be one in fortnite? It legit makes 0 sense to me. Now Im not saying the metaverse in Fortnite is bad its just that removing the magic of fortnite that brought so many people together for something no one asked for is such a L.

I played this game for the storyline and live events. Now that its gone, the last time I played was the OG season. Haven't touched Fortnite since.

The biggest problem with gaming industries these days is that other gaming companies want to be like eachother. Its sad too see Fortnite loosing its point and meaning of the game like live events and what makes it special I hate that there taking ideas from other games and trying to be like roblox which that will never happen because the community for roblox is super huge and they wouldn't be able to top that. There missing what really makes the heart of Fortnite and if only they followed the heart and the meaning of Fortnite success will come for them. Fortnite was so fun back in the day and its devastating too see what it has become now I wish they would listen to the community and realise that there's a bigger picture and that they need to focus what the community wants and not focusing on other gaming industries.

To be honest, I genuinely miss the storyline and stuff and it’s sad to see this go but ever since the chapter 4 mess, I kind of saw this coming. But I don’t know if I like that Fortnite is trying to be Fortnite,Minecraft,Roblox, and all these other stuff coming all at once. There are good things about this and bad things. 😢

Another thing that pisses me off is we just one day logged on and the OG map was back. No live event or sendoff for chapter 4. We just one day just popped up because of a time machine or somethin

I have kept up with the game just because of the story and sometimes what the season could be however I just want there to be a good story and a good game that isn’t oversaturated with things we don’t want

In my opinion fortnite is losing it's identity with every new season. I really loved the game up to the end of chapter 3 and when OG fortnite came back I felt such nostalgia and happiness. I hate to see this happening to the game from my childhood/teenage years

I mean to be honest, reason why they don't do live events and storylines constantly anymore is because of leakers. Leakers be leaking out live events and storyline dialogue before the due date release. Leaking has gotten worse over the years and recently this whole chapter just got leaked.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: the metaverse is a poison that deforms everything it touches. Minecraft has lost its identity, Roblox started the stupid trend of calling games “experiences” and Fortnite has been killed by the execs who think that Zuckerberg pioneered the future of gaming. I guess OG was more than just goodbye to our home. It was also goodbye to Fortnite as we know it.

I already rarely play fortnite now but now am probably just gonna stop fully unless they release a big fortnite szn happens

I hope they bring back Fortnite OG Chapter 1 as a permanant gamemode, that would be a clever idea to boost player count and popularity

The new gamemodes are amazing, but they don't feel like a reason to abandon the main story of BR. Looking back on it, yes, the gameplay is a lot better than OG Fortnite for me, and I really like the new stuff, but writing and integrating the existing lore can't be that hard.

I love the live events. I agree no live events no lore no story what comes next after this not sure but I hope we get story telling. Instead of oh join join, wait that no stick with the story line epic come on. Thanks post box pat.

The zero point was the main point of fns story then sweeny was like "Ok lets just delete it ok there we go much better" Look i dont hate the guy, But i hope the choice he chose backfires on him Events were the magic of fn. The only reason i played the game. Now im sitting here in creative making my own storyline and events so im not bored out of my mind.

I’m not surprised he left in season 3 because chapter 3 and the chapters ahead of that only had 4 seasons, chapter 4 had no story, no map changes, only one event and the new chapter is just all focused on metaverse stuff. They’re trying to be Roblox because they can’t have an original idea anymore.

Personally I don't care about the more at all. I do miss the live events though. But I also play Rocket League and Rock Band as two of my other primary games so I do love the merges and collaborations they are building.

Literally everyone was crying because the Vibin season was bad in their opinion and now they are like "Truly one of the best seasons ever". Epic definitely knows what they are doing we have been in this kind of situations before so please WAIT everything good is not always guaranteed to happen or atleast this fast, the game is gonna stay with us.

I don’t like the new way. I wish we had maps longer than 1 year. Maybe keep maps longer and increase live events! A live event every 2-3 seasons and a new map about every 2 years would be nice, in my opinion. I do enjoy the new games in Fortnite and I like chapter 5, but I feel like it goes way too fast with no story 😢

Not sure why you're surprised, live events and working on the story don't make money like the "metaverse" crap does. It's all about making as much money as possible now fortnite is an established game. It's not about keeping the existing players happy, it's about getting as many people in (or back) as possible with new modes so they can spend real world $$$. It's why the store prices are steadily increasing, it's why they set prices by putting cars in at ridiculous prices and then drop them a bit after the outrage. They're still outrageous prices, just a bit less than they were. Marketing 101. Epic is a big corporate now, story doesn't matter to them anymore. It's a terrible decision IMHO but there we are.

I just think that when games don't stick true to what they are. whenever I hear businesses and coprat ceos that just kind of goes down hill and just want to create that drift between players and the game. I honestly think its lazy met averse is honestly a mess.

Bring back the heart of battle royal. Be unique and not like any other game. As for being a platform i am split. Like go ahead a reach for the stars but i am here because of battle royal 85% to everything else 15%. I like that all the money i have spent on this game can be used for other so called games.

Too many steps away from what BR brought to the table is a big mistake. Like taking away the rarity system.
