Making a jump without sticking it is like: - a basketball player making a basket, but after it awkwardly bounces off the rim - a goal keeper saving a penalty, with their face - a skateboarder landing a trick with a hand on the ground - a chef cracking an egg into a pan and getting a bit of eggshell in it - opening a packet of crisps upside down - leaving the house without shoes on - forgetting your own birthday - I dont know what I'm going on about - I hope nobody is actually reading this

One thing that might seem obvious but went unmentioned is what people told me when I first started training - that sticking is actually harder for the knees if you don't have the proper technique. I'm not an expert and the friendly pk community from my neighborhood neither, but I feel like that's a good tipp for people starting out. Obviously it doesn't feel as rewarding, but just carrying on with the momentum sometimes instead of attempting to stick everything just for the sake of it might prevent your knees some stress & pain...which is positive no matter how young your knees are haha
@lethalassassin1754
@lethalassassin1754 3 года назад
You have to be well acquainted with the technique of dropping, jumping and landing before even attempting to stay on the surface. For newcomers its just practice practice practice running jumps, strides, and simple pres for a good while until you know the technique.

I agree with Jimmy. I've always thought Benj's sticks were the prettiest in Storror, but Callum's are the most technical and proper. There's just something about Benj's style that makes things look so effortless and flowy.

Best tip I ever got for sticking was basically stack your spine. Most ppl round their spines and the momentum goes all over the place. You kinda have to keep your center of gravity low in your pelvis for a good stick. The easiest way to get ppl to do it is to tell them to face their collar bones forward on the landing, not down. They can bend their necks to look at the landing spot, or glance down over their noses, but they mustn't bend over to see it. So I usually go with that and what I like to phrase as "hulk abs" - kinda contracting the entire core on impact so that the lower back doesn't end up doing all the work while the pelvis rotates in because of the unbalance. Getting it right doesn't take all that much work when you have a little help, but it makes such a huge difference in your control when you train. Plus it does feel awesome 😋

jimmy a tip for your sticks : imagine you are catching the object you are landing on with your body.. if that makes sense lol. from what i can see most people fully extend their bodies just before landing and are leaning very slightly back towards where they jumped from. as soon as you feel your feet touch you gradually tense your body up as you are letting the force of the impact come back through your body into your hands, where you throw it forward..

Best video to date. So I don’t do Parcour, but you spoke early in the video about what is so satisfying about a good stick... In a previous video you mentioned that Parcour is the activity of travelling from point A to point B as efficiently as possible. If the jump is stuck beautifully. Then no energy was wasted travelling. There was the right amount of power- not to much, not to little - that the landing could be comfortable and kind and (ignoring the years of practise to make it so...) easy. Is the stick the epitome of efficient travel? The epitome of Parcour??
