It saves time and resources to just learn from them, rather than making the same mistakes again. So you can have more time focusing on making lives better, don't you think?

@@SharronDenice The point of the story was given the appropriate knowledge and time, everyone carries the capacity to become a monk/ enlightened. But they have to be willing to accept the teaching. This also entails the famous saying "Don't judge a book by its cover." Whatever the past, one always has a choice to have a better future. Another moral is, if you are true to your self and your values, no company can divert you from that. That is why Ananda didn't become a prostitute but she became a monk. There is a verse from Bhagvat Geeta chapter 3, verse 21: karmaṇaiva hi sansiddhim āsthitā janakādayaḥ loka-saṅgraham evāpi sampaśhyan kartum arhasi yad yad ācharati śhreṣhṭhas tat tad evetaro janaḥ sa yat pramāṇaṁ kurute lokas tad anuvartate Meaning: By performing their prescribed duties, King Janak and others attained perfection. You should also perform your work to set an example for the good of the world. Whatever actions great persons perform, common people follow. Whatever standards they set, all the world pursues. Peace.
