He was tolerant towards all religion equally and sought after and invited many scholars at the end of his life. Common teachings of buddhism however has always been the spoken and folk wisdom spread among Mongolians for many many years.

Mongol history in Central Asia was written 20-30 years after, and hence carried errors. Genghis Khan sent two generals across Indus and they fought two years. Genghis himself wanted to pass India to go back to Asia. He changed mind after dissuasion by followers using the rhino in Indus as some omen. This Indus river thing was already two years after the two generals fought in India. The Mongols in the 1250s attacked India numerous times, and from Iran, the Mongols attacked India almost every 10 to 20 years.

This Indus river thing was already two years after the two generals fought in India. The Mongols in the 1250s attacked India numerous times, and from Iran, the Mongols attacked India almost every 10 to 20 years.

There was new religion factor added into it. Moreover the Mongols had lost a lot of influence following the disintegration of the Mongol Empire. The economics of individual Khans had diminished. There was no central authority like a Khagan left to prevent them from fighting amongst themselves. These new Khans depended more and more on raids for their and their tribal comtigents sustenance. So they had now started to find new alternatives to income, new regions to invade/raid. This is where they diverted from the core principle of the first Khan that "Power trumps Wealth".
