I had a Goodtime singer girlfriend from 1971-1979. I saw him close up at the International Hotel (now the Hilton) and helped keep his banjo player sober when around during his three month long stays at the hotel. I also delivered music to his house on Mulholland Dr. during the tenure of his Goodtime Hour show. His music arranger, Marty Paich, was the father of Lorrie Paich (Goodtime singer), my girlfriend. Lorrie's brother is David Paich of Toto. I actually got the know his wife (in the 70s) well because she was who I delivered the music to at their home. She was gorgeous and had those first three children, as toddlers, running around. When Glen and Jerry Reed were playing Las Vegas, they'd get "comped" high class hookers every night. That's 90 high class hookers in a row before he went home to his poor wife. Personally, the Glen Campbell I knew was a coke/amphetamine/whore monger (and so was Jerry). But, what's wrong with that as long as it's legal. It's a shame he cut out the first kids because they suffered with his miserable lifestyle as children. He eventually straightened up, otherwise he's have died long before he did. So his legacy was to cut out the kids hurt most by his behavior, not much of a legacy!
I will be as fair as I can when making my will. all my kids should get equal amount, I want to meet my Lord in heaven and leave no pain left behind while I lived here in this valley of tears.
Yes, indeed, she was a manipulative creature... She even had him buried the day AFTER he died. She must have had the coffin and grave in place in readiness... EWWW!!!. talk about a CARING WIFE.
@irenefisher2528, did Glen fail to support them when they were growing up? No, he did NOT. Their mothers were well compensated as well when divorced. BTW, the will stated what Glen wanted. His widow had no say regarding the outcome of the will.
His wife Kim has zero empathy for his older children, you know, the ones that he was not the best dad to while he went through his cocaine alcoholic womanizing days! Kim’s kids always had it good and didn’t have to deal with that heavy toxicity, but they got their share...Kim’s probably a narcissist! They always push away step kids, they might take a little attention!
By far "Wichita Lineman" is my favorite song, as it is a sentimental song I would sing the lyrics to my 1st wife (RIP). The lyrics I would sing were "I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time..." I never appreciated Glen's music until I was an adult, but Glen was a true artist, and very few could compare to his talent. RIP Glen Campbell.
He only left out the older three, so I guess he owed the other five? I bet his wife had an influence on him in his weakened state. I guess Kim had no empathy for his children that he was supposed to be a father figure to at a time when he thought being an alcoholic cokeheaded womanizer was a higher priority. Kim’s kids never were exposed to that father and always had a silver spoon hanging out of their mouth.... Has a touch of narcissism about it...
I love all of his songs but by far my all time favorite song by glen Campbell is rhinestone cowboy. I was 2 years old when it came out and tried to sing along when it played on the radio and on YV shows. RIP Glen Campbell
My favorite is, "It's Only Make Believe." He did a great job singing Conway's song. I love all of his songs and for sure his guitar playing. He is greatly missed but never forgotten.
So sad that those three children were left out of the Will… no matter what or how distant they become unless they are absolute A/holes they should’ve been considered even by the current wife. It’s not so much about the money as it is that your father didn’t care about you.… I followed Glenn Campbell as a fan for many years. I just can’t imagine he had any nastiness in his bones. He was the sweetest man ever I thought. This might’ve been, some thing his current wife had a lot to do with. Don’t know can’t put blame on anyone. We all need to have our living will in order. Prior to our death, so that there is no nastiness among family members nor hurt feelings. I know personally that this can cause a family departure that never heals. Sadly, God bless you all.
Yes, indeed, there was not one ounce of nastiness in his face or eyes... he was just a lovely person.,.. The last wife was certainly a vindictive nasty creature.
A real shame. There was plenty to go around. The siblings who were cut out should have been taken care of by the ones who were named. It's the right thing to do.
I m.j ever.liked Cambells dealings with his kids and how the previous marriage children... I feel the greed of his last wife played a roll in this and his altimers let her hide some very interesting and mysterious changes in is will...othe last wives did this in the industry too...prayers 4 his children that ended their lawsuit...🙏
Goodness! I can't believe he's been gone six years already. I always liked him and his music. May he continue to rest peacefully and eternally. 🙏🕊️❤️ Thank you my friend. 😊
Never thought of him as a country artist. He left the South and moved West, part of The Wrecking Crew, was a Beach Boy. Never part of the Nashville elite!
Glen Campbell came to sing at the free outdoor stage at the local fair. My Sweetheart & I stood near an old huge oak tree listening among many older people, enjoying the heck out of it.
grew up in the 60s listening what a talented man he was his music lives on Gentle on my mind. Never heard a bad song Rest in peace ' Thanks for the memories.
I love Glen Campbell's "Galveston" due to the mournful, lovelorn anguish of it's central character who's stuck fighting in a war and separated from his love (a girl or the beautiful Texas island?). It's release during the Vietnam war made it all the more appealing as so many were separated from their loved one due to the war, a musical touchstone if ever there was one. It remains mysterious with superb music and lyrics by the great Jimmy Webb who fed Campbell so many great hit songs. It is in its own way most hypnotic. As a post script, Galveston was rated in 2003 the number 8 greatest country music song by Country Music Television (CMT) in it's fan voted rankings.
He “fathered” all of those children, so they ALL should have a claim. Glen Campbell had a great gift, but like many men “always believed the grass was greener on the other side.”
Not true. I live with a very controlling woman who actually made me yearn for peace. I quit sleeping with he because she was the one who wanted pleasing. No sharing the Love! How dare you!
I didn't really ever care for his music but there was definitely something fishy regarding his assets. He had to have earned more money. Sounds like it was hidden or squandered. The first set of children should have gotten money too.I blame the current wife( widow). She wanted only HER children to benefit...so very sad. 😢
Glen Campbell, aside from numerous TV specials, also had a couple of successful variety shows in the late 60s to early 70s and another in the early 80s. But the first one often featured the perpetually sunny Mike Curb Congregation as musical guests and gave us such perky tunes like "Sweet Gingerbread Man"! Hahaha! Several of them can be seen here on RU-vid!
@@johnheinrich6907 🤔 very funny, not. You just try writing your last cheque to the I.R.S Tax_Man that bounces. And see what happens ?. Good luck with that !...............
@@alancrisp1582 my last written check, is the one I write, right before I die. The idea that it will bounce, is because I am now broke. So I’m not sure, what the IRS is going to do with a stiff?
I can't imagine that most people who are parents would intentionally leave some of their children out of their will. I hope that common sense and decency prevailed and that all of his children received money from his estate. It soundslike there was plenty of money to go around.
What about his version of "Classical Gas" ? A real masterpiece of guitar music ... How I miss him and his music of the '60's ! Thank you 🙏🏻 for those beautiful years !
Glen literally came from nothing and because of his amazing talent, he made it big. I don't know what happened with his family maybe it is just maybe not.
Glen was upset with them because when he and their mother divorced she got half the income from a publishing company he owned. When she died the children continued to collect this money until Glen and his then wife discovered it and stopped the payments saying the ex-wifes claim on this money died with her. I believe it actually went to court and Glen and Kim got the ex-wifes half back....I think that created an ugly situation between Glen and those (by then adult) children and sometime after that he disinherited them.
Yesterday When I was Young is a beautiful song written by and originally sung by a great world famous Armenian artist, Charles Aznavourian aka Aznavour.
@@FactsVerse 'Gentle On My Mind' is my favorite song by Glen. Also love 'Wichita Lineman' and 'By The Time I Get To Phoenix'. Glen Campbell was just a natural talent. He had it all.
I watched a documentary on his last year of performing,, and if you watch that I think you can clearly see that he was probably manipulated into signing that final will.
And she forgave him, she recently said she should have still been with him. She admitted she was being awful to him at the time. Not an excuse just owning up to her part in the fight.
Gentle on my mind my favorite song. As far as his kids and the will? there should have been enough money for all , Even if the older kids got less ,they should have got something. I am sure Glen would have wanted it that way. Kim his latest wife was his Queen Bee and it is understandable she got the larger amount.
The lineman may have been my favorite , l watched a video of him with his family on the final tour l guess it was and he was great, when it came time to do the next song he started doing one that had already been sang and when his daughter said Dad we already did that one it tore me up, it's an awful thing for the person and family to deal with
Grew up on his music, heard it on the radio. Now 2023 just turned 60 yrs young,. Watched his final year on tour with his children playing on stage with their father. The plan to end the tour was made that moment his daughter told Glenn he already sung that song.😔😢💔 was a teary moment happening live streamed, his children on stage, his family gathered around their father. The great Rhinestone Cowboy, Glenn Campbell was surrounded by his family. That was his last live performance .. I heard the news of his passing Online Ethernet.
they say as siblings you contest he will it is a lot of money each sibling has to pay if it was to be contested how do i know its happened with my brothers an sisters as our dad wasnt very loving very self centered person didnt think much of his kids sad though
Obviously these people who contested the validity of the will. Never were involved or wanted to be involved in glenn's life until it became about money!
They got a settlement that's why they dropped the case! Always go to court disinherited children usually win! I've seen it at least a half a dozen times the parents wrote them out of the will and they still got it anyway once you're dead you don't own nothing and you got no say over nothing😉
Why didn't his kids inherit his Millions of Dollars? Or his last wife; being the Executive officer to his estate. Then his 8 kids should have equally should have gotten something.
People get greedy. Do what the will says. Really the money should have gone to his last wife. Hopefully she would be responsible with the money. My way of thinking, everything belongs to God. So do good.
