Thanks for allowing me to share my story and journey Harry! Thanks to everyone for the kind words too, I hope this video helps somebody out there the way the videos on this channel helped me! Living the dream as a bald man now! 🎉❤
You look fantastic man. You showed real gumption to shownyour fragility MORE than shaving the head too btw. You're gonna inspire many. You have the same crown problem I have/had. And your situation is so relatable. Keep living dude. Summers coming, get some colour on it. Keep shaping that beard, experiment with a new wardrobe. Build your life around it - don't let it build a life around you. Embrace it man. You're killing it 👌🏼
i'm 34.....just did a buzz cut today....started losing hair a few years ago....i was doing the ''comb over thing''....my dad helped me to buzz my hair and my mom was supportive....i feel happy, relieved....the big test will be on monday when i go to work....the comments that i will receive may change my mood....idk....anyway, what is done is done....i have accepted my hair loss and i have the support of my family....this is all that count!
Take it easy man!! I buzzed my hair at 33 years old, I am 35 now. The first weeks were strange, I felt relieved but at the same time I missed my hair because I knew, it was forever lost. Thats hard, but I like how I look now and never try to hide it! At work, most people was supportive but there is always some assholes who will make fun from you, just show them it doesn't affect you, you'll be fine 👌👌👌👌
Embrace it brother, there is always a shock factor when people see you for the first time after the shave, my Mom initially said she missed my hair and people may give you a hard time at first, but for me since I started to own and embrace it as me, I get a lot of people, including my Mom now, who tell me it looks better than before. Most people can't picture me with hair now and tell me I rock the bald look. Try not to get to caught up in the opinions of others but rather appreciate the fact that you have now conquered a fear that many men live their entire adult lives in fear of, you're past it and your hair doesn't define you. You do. How you own it makes you way more attractive. Good luck dawgie!
Good for you my guy, wear it with a new found confidence. Maybe think about changing your wardrobe up a bit to create a new version of yourself, I’ve recently done the same after turning 38 this month, and honestly it’s the best thing I’ve done in a while! 👍🏻
Much respect for posting your experience man. People that arnt balding just can't understand how emotional it can be after dealing with and worrying about it for so long. I haven't taken the shave step yet but this vid and the others help so much.
Im bald, I shave my head everyday. I NEVER felt any kind of sadness nor worry about balding, and I DONT understand why it is that emotional or terrifying for many guys to lose hair and to shave it off
These videos helped me finally do it. I watched about 2 and a half videos, and half way through the 3rd video I just "F it, I'm gonna do it!" I really appreciate you making all these videos to help those of us who're nervous about it!
It's funny how we tend to see ourselves 10x more critically than other people see us. When I saw how he looked with the head shave, I thought he pulled it off great and had an ideal head shape, whereas he was distraught and hated it. Good to know that he's warmed up to it.
@@tiedyesuit3097yeah I mean, he still has a very crisp hairline that isn't even receding. His head shave looks like a buzz cut for a standard full head of hair
His journey is really close to mine, I found this channel after searching for it after I got the news from my barber (and had seen changes). I plowed through all of your videos and it motivated me to take the step a bit over a year ago. You're really making a difference with Baldcafe and you should be proud of what you bring to the world. Removing shame from men one video at a time.
definitely good to get a different perspective to the usual lads who feel the great sense of relief. It's a big change and it can be scary for some. I'm glad he's happy with it now, it definitely looks good on him!
I have an issue with thinning and receding and I have been watching these videos all night trying to pluck up the courage to do the shave myself and just seeing all these people sharing their stories and I am proud of all them and picking up my clippers tomorrow to join the crew! Keep up the good work
fantastic story, well done mate, you've grown from this experience im sure and you'll never have any regrets now. That comment about the first picture of you and your daughter being an edited one was a powerful thought, definitely made the right choice. Just enjoy life now for what it is now that this burden is gone :)
First of all well done mate you look great! I can totally relate to how he felt about his head shape because its something that scares me also. This channel is helping me slowly but surely, in knowing there's many of us fellas out there feeling like this about our hair. I see the videos about people feeling free after it's done and I'm so desperate for that feeling. Unfortunately at the moment I can't leave that worry about how I'll look behind. Thank you for this channel and well done to everyone on here that was finally brave enough to shave it off.
Mid 30s here. Shaved my head on and off by choice since I was kid. Currently have hair but if I ever start losing it, I won’t mind shaving it off for good.
As a long time baldie with beard, I can kinda see why he didnt like it at first. It's the beard imo, its very round and makes the lower half of his head look much bigger than his (now bald) top of the head. Trimming the sides of the beard shorter or adding a bit of length to the beard would do a lot. Experimenting with beard styles is probably my #1 advice for bald dudes who dont like how they look, very often a uniform full beard isnt the right one for you.
Well done Joe, and thank you for sharing your story. One of the things I remember thinking before I shaved mine many years ago was that it looked terrible but it was as good as it would ever look. I wasn’t completely right about that, I love my razored head now.
I totally understand what he felt! Sometimes the result of cutting it off isn't that happy or satisfaction feeling we expect. You might think your head shape looks weird or you feel like you look stupid after you finally cut your hair off. From personal experience, this is just a short phase, you're just not used to it, and you QUICKLY fall in love with your new look! I've never gone back after cutting my hair off almost 6 years ago, and I am so glad I found this channel! As I Said in the part 1 video, don't cut it off slowly, like he did starting from cut size 3 and then reducing the size... This will just drag on the experience. Just go all out and cut it off with the 0 size!!! it'll look way cleaner and nicer :) I promise
I'm 44 with the same hair loss at the back and even more thinning at the front. Just buzzcut it recently and suffered the same disappointment. Everyone around me tells me "you don't need it. Now you look worse". There was no sense of relief and no support from anyone. Some of us are peer pressured to maintain a balding look that only looks ok... from certain angles.
@baldbearded9601 People generally never mention your balding. They only ever mention something when your appearance suddenly changes and they're forced to adjust to your new look. Anyway, after a couple of weeks my 11 year old said she prefers the new look. That's what matters the most to me ;)
A lot guys are not a fan going full bald head due to various reason like some people have badly shaped heads that they will look even weird if they remove all hair, others suffer from hair and scalp issues like the occasional scalp psoriasis or bad dandruff that is why they can't go bald otherwise the flare-ups or dandruff scales will be exposed into an unsightly look
I had the same experience when i shaved my head, its not so much losing your hair thats the worst part. its realizing you have an odd or ugly headshape, i genuinly have a ugly pointy headshape and i will never accept it or get used to it i almost alwas wear a cap, i lost my hair at 18 years old, now i am 37. I did have scalp micro pigmentation some years ago wich gave me a little confidence back, but not really the sustainable solution for me.
Recently I shaved my head again. I did it a few times before but I decided to give it another go and allow the hair to return. I'm one of those with those huge gaps on the sides and a windows peak in front. I was practically a Vegeta cosplay 😅😅. Anyways...I decided to brave the shame once more and people were not very supportive. Also I don't really think that a bald look suits me. Unlike these other dudes when I shave my head I look waaay younger than I am and lost half of my confidence. Even with all these side effects of the shave I've decided to keep the bald look a bit more. Maybe it'll grow on me and I'll start to feel more confident. If I don't feel any change on the confidence field I'll go back and become the prince of all Saiyans once more
so hard😢 struggling with it to, do i try transplant, self image is like your best quality, i used to take pics daily and know its worse i take less but still super conscious, even more so after a trim, bloody thinning crown😢
I think the thing with guys that still have a thick hairline and around the top outer edge that are balding on the top and crown (like me) is that the sides are MUCH thicker, so doing a #1 often leaves thicker stubble to where it can have the "side chops" look; opposed to someone with a receded hairline or almost fully bald on top and sides that are also thin being those are cases were a #1 looks great! My hair is similar to this dudes and Im worried at a #1 that it'll look mangy on top (although I used to get #2 fades for a decade so no stranger to short hair) but I'm thinking after I do it, it I don't feel confident buzzing the thick sides down to a 0, I'll get a barber to even things out and learn how to do it myself.... OR, I'll just do a 0 (no guard) on it all, and get some precision beard trimmers and see if I can make do a lineup on what's left of my hairline.... This MAY make it look as if I shaved it on purpose opposed to having to (as I often wear a snapback backwards) PS: YES, I know this ideology is the reason I'm struggling to take the clippers to it and what stops many people from taking the leap.
@@dadbodvlogs I'm planning on it today/tomorrow.... I'm realizing that I'm putting it off being planned to do it last weekend... Lol Just being the top is the worst, I know I'll probably stand there trying to even things out so your probably right about the "no guard" route and it blending things better. Idk if it's my head shape or what but my hair/head has always been very similar to John Cena.... Hairline area and outer rim of the top edges has always been thicker hair than the scalp, so much that when getting #2 fades when younger, I'd have to get a #1 on the hairline. That has thinned out but is still thicker than the scalp, so the "no guard" is probably my best best. Any tips to make the top stubble look thicker? The hairs are thinning so I guess in terms of the remaining hair follicle specks to show up.
@Tony Norris I think when you go no guard you'll suprise yourself. It will be a shock and the initial reaction will be "I look stupid" but after 2 or 3 days you'll be loving the benefits of rolling out of bed not worrying about your hair. Showers feel better on a bald head too! Haha
@@dadbodvlogs bro, I went for it.... At a #1 and from one angle it looks good, from another angle the remaining hairline and thin top look rough. Do u have any contact info on here? I'd love your advice on some pics.... my wife is saying "Don't go any shorter, u look like ur old self again" but the top of my head isn't how it used to look. 😂
Yo Harry, what is your current recommendation for a razor that shaves pretty much close to skin, is easy to use (at least after the first few times) and doesn't take too long? Also want to go against the grain with it. Are you still using the leaf shave as your go to razor? I'm using Harry's razor at the moment. KR, Jack
If you want to wet shave with a razor and just want absolutely the easiest, quickest and closest then Harry’s in honestly a decent bet. Other than that I found the Gilette 5 glades versions to be easy to use and cut well. My personal razor of choice these days is the twig razor from leaf shave. I like the precision but it isn’t the fastest way to shave.
@@Baldcafe Thanks for the quick reply mate. I will stick to Harry's then and might consider buying a twig/leaf razor from leaf shave to be more sustainable in the future.
I'm sure it's hard for him, but this really is just the very beginning of what hairloss feels like. If he kept holding on to what he has for another decade, then he'd start to feel what most men really had to deal with. He isn't anywhere near bald and still has a very sharp and clean hairline; thinner maybe, but still very decent. Basically, anyone watching this has to understand that he is not suffering crazy misery from hairloss, and that if your condition is anything worst than this, it really ain't that bad either, despite his feelings. Eventually when you feel "obligated" to truly shave off any hair because of the patches.. (at 22 years old or later, hopefully) well that hits differently. And you know what? In both cases, a shaved head ends up looking much better, I promise! I'll even add that many men who start shaving their head with an actual razor, could let their hair grow for a buzz-cut-look, but will rapidly grow fond of the clean shaven head and will keep shaving it for your own pleasure and self-care. Wet shaving and aromatherapy can become like meditation to recharge your batteries, and men can transform balding insecurity into a well invested moment into self care and relaxation. Just give it a try 👌
You’ve got to be joking. The man has a HUGE patch in the back of his head. He had extremely aggressive hair loss and made the right choice shaving it off. It looked bad until he took the plunge.
@@hasselett Hehe I didn't say he wasn't balding, but he does have a very crisp hair line. My message isn't to discredit his situation. I'm basically saying that despite his "devastated reaction" his situation isn't that bad in comparison to most balding men, and that if your situation is worst than him (which it is for most people), well it is STILL not that bad, and if you don't have a crisp straight hair line like he does, you can still shave closer and it always looks and feels good.
Your comment is a bit ignorant. Sounds like you're trying to invalidate how he feels towards his own hairloss because in your opinion it's not as bad as it could be. Everyone has their own reaction to hairloss, it's his own personal journey and just because you think it's not that bad at that stage, doesn't mean it isn't affecting him any less. It's not about comparisons, it's about how it makes him feel, and really he should do whatever makes him happy.
@@baldbearded9601 bruh theres multiple forms of balding, trying to make it seem like your not considered balding until your hairline goes my ass. Sound goofy af
Bro not laughing at you. Laughing with you. My reaction was same: sighing, mumbling to myself, disappointed. But in the end the patchy stuff is not idea, shaved is better.
A lot of guys want to use a guard at first, like that will help adjusting or something, I think it's a mistake. You HAVE to know it's not gonna look good, there will be a big difference between the sides and the top, it's inevitable. The only way is all the way, take that guard off. Even now this bloke left a bit, he would look so much better actually shaved
Lets be honest. Not everyone is going to look good woth a bald head, some headhspes are not the best look. But its either that ir thr daily stress of thinning hair. Man up and shave
You and I share different definitions of "a ton of hair". I personally am surprised he didn't take the plunge and shaved it all off much earlier. It looked really bad, to be honest. And sea salt spray wouldn't do a single thing to change that. I don't even know what that means.
Hey i got a question if anybody feels like answering.. I have noticed that in my forehead around the hairline i have several single hairs alone that are far apart and when you see it its superobvious... It does not look good. They just hang there alone far from the rest if the hair.. So my question is, does anyone know if thats a sign lf balding or hairthinning, hairloss?? Wondering because i feel like my hairline looks a bit thinner too.. And my hair is harder to fix nlwadays.. Getting tired of it and wanna shave it off but my family and friends are supernegative towards shaving my head...
hmmm hard to tell. Maybe they were always like this. Got a few single hairs too and I think I always had them. You should keep an eye on that, but might be nothing. If you're friends and family is negative towards that, maybe start with a buzz first and see how that works for you? You still can shave it afterwards.
