Google is doing this on purpose. They have totally reduced the amount of data that is available and now they are making it extra hard to get the same data that you used to get easily before. Also, Google Analytics -> Google Ads conversions ARE NOT as accurete as direct GTM -> Google Ads conversions. Analytics is missing a lot of them. Now I see that they are forcing everywhere GA4 Property integration. They are doing this to slow down the data flow and to make their systems cheaper to maintain. However, at the cost of data quality. I think they may not be aware that the data quality is significantly different, or if they are, they just don't care about their clients.
But what that means? Can I sill track conversions normally from GA4, what comes from Google ads, if they are not linked? What does the conversion linker mean? In what situation enhanced conversions are must? Bc companies can track emails by themselves. Can i do this in old way importing all from analytics? Is this way must nowdays.
Thank you so much ! I finally was able to find the conversion label by using "create a conversion action manually". Otherwise, the "use gtm" option was not visible, and when selecting "install manually" the event snippet did not appear so I was stuck ! Thank you again
This came at a golden time where I was trying to set-up a custom data layer and almost had it all, but attached deposit variant was capturing all product sales. I tried this method and it was super simple to set-up, but I'm not seeing the purchase data coming through sadly. Not sure where I went wrong as I followed it step-by-step. Back to the Shopify integration, I guess.
@@LovesData Thank you for your response Benjamin! I love all of your videos. I actually had this video and the one you linked open when I commented and accidentally commented on the wrong video. I meant to respond on the new GTM Shopify video. Not sure why the purchase data and checkout data isn't coming through very well. We are on the older checkout for Shopify and haven't upgraded to Extensibility yet, though we will be in the next month. I wonder if that could be impacting it, a fair amount of custom code on the checkout too. Hoping I can figure it out soon. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the work you do. You're absolutely my favourite educator when it comes to Analytics! Thank you!
Thank you for this great tutorial, Could you please make a video tutorial to implement Data Layer in Shopify, send data from GTM to GA4? The current problem for hundreds of Shopify users is that if we do not purchase the Shopify Plus upgrade, Shopify then prevents GTM from seeing the data in the check-out and purchase confirmation process.
