Why "GRIEF" is the BEST Upcoming Top 1!

Imo Tidal Wave was so refreshing, it is uptone and happy, also the song is super dompaine giving, compared to the dark and grittyness of other top 1s. But Grief is going to be one of the best top 1s tho.

i dont necessarily think grief is the best level ever or anything, i know there are better levels near its difficulty range such as amethyst or stuff like that but imo grief follows the perfect recipe for a top 1; it didnt come out of nowhere for mere clout and instead follows up on probably one of the most important projects in icedcave's career, has a very dark, super high intensity atmosphere that expands on what the original slaughterhouse established and builds up on top of it, and is amazing to watch whether its because of its stunning deco or its near impossible looking gameplay, i rly would love to see this level at the top

obviously everyone can have their own opinions, but the idea that the best top 1 theme is hell and a beach theme doesn’t fit is just a shit take imo. i don’t think hell themed levels are always bad (in fact, i think they’re usually pretty well done), but just because they symbolize extreme difficulty in GD doesn’t mean that they’re the best for the hardest levels. imo, a hard level should just be able to be hard, and the theming should be up to the creator. i’m not saying they’re bad, but hell levels are very overdone for top 1’s (tidal wave is the first non-hell themed top 1 since zodiac). i think tidal wave’s theming fits perfectly into a top 1, and that the theming really doesn’t matter THAT much when it comes to if a top 1 fits the spot or not (again, this is just my opinion, of course). | edit (i want to add something): i honestly think that the beach theme having a fun and positive connotation is especially fitting for tidal wave considering the fact that the majority of top players consider it to be an actually fun top 1, which makes a lot of sense when you think about it considering that it’s a 3 minute long level with well thought-out gameplay instead of something like slh which is just a minute long level filled with gameplay designed to be as hard as possible instead of factoring in the actual enjoyability of the gameplay)

I love when the newgen spreads misinformation about old levels that he cant take the time to research on.

I think it’s sad that the community has been so oversaturated with hell-themed top difficulty levels that it feels unbecoming for a top 1 level to not be hell-themed. Levels like Artificial Ascent and even Zodiac in my opinion felt like great top 1s because they were so grandiose and memorable. Most of these hell-themed feel redundant and lazy. Grief does look really good for a hell-themed level purely in decoration, but it doesn’t feel special at all to me as a level. The aforementioned AA did. Tidal Wave feels that way too. Ascension to Heaven also has that striking grand quality that I just haven’t felt with any hell-themed levels in the top 1 except for Bloodbath, Yata, and Bloodlust

One thing I will say, I don't think your reasoning of Silent Acropolis and Apocalyptic Trilogy not needing a redeco is that good. Sure, on their own, they look fine, but both levels are versions of other people's work, so this would in effect be stealing someone else's work, or at least it would be two rated levels with the pretty much the same decoration (assuming, which I do, that a level needs to be rated to be the top 1 demon). Pretty good vid otherwise.

The apocalyptic trilogy was literally made as a fun project that got bigger and bigger the plan wasn't to make views... (Btw I think that othere people in the comments already said it so sorry if it's the 500 comment like this that you get...) Edit : also, greif was 100% made in 2.1. It is a pretty good top 1 in my opinion as well, especially considering that the first half of slaughterhouse (everything before river's part) has really bland and boring decoration. Like its not super terrible or anything it just lacks detail, and it really isn't that hard to do either, which leads to an overall inconsistency in the decoration of the level, but grief fixes that, as the decoration stays pretty consistent throughout the level. Great video as always, though! :) (Also thanks for watching my hardest gd levels video again lol)

I love tidal waves beach theme, the last non hell themed top 1 we had was zodiac and we had 4 hell themed top ones between them, in my opinion the style doesn't matter, just the gameplay

I like Silent Clubstep (and Eternal Silence) I LOVE Grief and Slaughterhourse Im very excited for Silent Circles Infinity And I Hope Banshee will be Top 1 Also... sakupen circles isnt that bad Pretty much all of these impossible levels with history are amazing and i hope we will get some at Top 1 Spot (right now Banshee and in future Grief or even SCI)

TBH my opinion with most things is that I prefer experimentation over a tried and trusted method. This is why I love levels like Injury, Teeth Fortress II, etc. Another nitpick of mine is that songs should also be taken into consideration. Breakcore and other genres in DnB is perfect for GD, as it can represent a fast paced and tough level better than other genres. Still, most of you opinions are pretty based.

well imo grief certainly deserves being the 'most suitable' for a top-1 demon for its hell theme and intensity which instantly gave an impression of its extreme difficulty, being the best top-1 might also depends on its gameplay, uniqueness and a bit of deco. Grief is good at all these aspects, but whether it deserves a best top-1 or not might be rather disputable. while suitability has its own standards, being good partly relies on one's own opinion. for example my favourite top-1 is 'based after based' by akunakun still love u anw good reasonings

on the topic of maturity in regards to how you feel about hell themed levels, i feel like you should genuinely think more about how you personally feel about tidal wave. when you talked about it, it gave off the same impression as someone writing off hell themed levels. introspection could make you realize what you like about the level and expand your views on the game a bit, or help you develop a more concrete taste and more clearly identify what you like about grief. i feel that there is room to expand upon your opinions here in all facets. i personally agree that grief is amazing by the way! it's so fresh, and for what it's worth, an awesome remake which often just doesn't happen in gd!

I like this level a lot. My only issue with it is that the gp is really spammy at some places and it looks pretty laggy as well.

To me, top ones shouldn’t have to be scary at all, sometimes it’s better for them to look inviting and joyful. Gritty levels attract one type of players to improve, and lighter levels attract a different type. That’s why I feel like top 1-10 should be all unique in theme. I personally find no issue with lighter top ones, but I do understand your reasoning.

Im honestly tired of hell themed top 1s, and when I saw the first previews of grief I didnt like the level, but now... its not my favorite but its a very good top 1 compared to the o0ther recents ones, and i love it, also the gray part with the shader effects looks sick, not the best, but a respectable one honestly. (I think the best is arouns Silent acropolis, Heliopolis, Amethyst and firewall) Also i dont agree that of heel is the best theme for a top 1, i believe crators should be more original than that and consider other themes, like space or a dungeon or something more, but isnt the worst theme(The worst theme is Silent Dicctras)

i disagree on a lot of points, like tidal wave is a great top 1, and silent acropolis is also an amazing upcoming top 1 (better than grief) but grief IS one of the best upcoming top 1s for sure. absolutely amazing level

The apocalyptic trilogy imo is decent at best. The deco is very good the gameplay is I guess the worst part but in the end this is like a tribute to the most iconic trilogy in the game. Aftercatabath while it was a remarkable achievement that was done by sunix I don’t think it held as much as the individual levels so a more refined and polished version of it not only makes a for a very good top 10 at least it also kind of acts as a thank you for the impact of these levels and how the changed the game forever (aftermath not as much but still). So in the end I believe it is a good level it may be annoying to play it may be capitalising off of the success of these levels but I see it as a way to say goodbye to this serious because even if they are iconic at some point in the future they might not even be extremes anymore (don’t take this last one seriously we don’t know what’s gonna happen)

Personally, a space themed top 1 would be perfect, like ton 618, witch just sends shivers down your spine.

I would like hell themed levels like Slaughterhouse or GRIEF or Bloodlust more if they weren't so blatantly satanic That's why I don't mind levels like Bloodbath, because the "hell theme" is just a red color scheme. However, Slaughterhouse, GRIEF, Bloodlust, etc. include disturbing satanic imagery such as pentagrams and ram skulls, which, as a religious person, I do not appreciate how lightly they treat.

Flamewall feels like a perfect top 1, although it's borderline hell themed. It's still different enough to be one of the best top 1s in my eyes.

im also another person that thinks the silent clubstep deco feels a bit bland, but the difference between the silent clubstep redeco and the silent acropolis redeco is that silent clubstep is a MUCH more iconic impossible level, and doesnt need to be redecorated to make it look good, because it has its own identity. silent acropolis is a level that didnt get nearly as much attention. its nowhere near the level of popularity that silent clubstep has. and also, silent clubstep is a level made from the groud up, and despite being an impossible clubstep remake, it has a very different style than vanilla clubstep. silent acropolis has an EXTREMELY similar deco style to regular acropolis, to the point that i think it was made by someone who got an acropolis copyable and just added to it. the silent acropolis redeco makes it a much MUCH better looking level, and its defintitely iconic enough to make me remember it. also that apocalyptic trilogy take is INSANE. cataclysm and bloodbath are THE top 1s of geometry dash, and i think doing a redeco of them plus aftermath is a great love letter to the original top 1 gd levels. i cant speak on the gameplay, not a lot of us can, but i feel like if it were made purely for attention, it would not have been in the works for 7 years, and also have gone through multiple parts being redecorated to make sure theyre the best quality they can be. also i agree that grief is the best upcoming top 1 but #2 and #3 are apocalyptic trilogy and silent acropolis and im very hurt by your words gado........... also gl with the whole drama going on on twitter LMAO you got my support

Imo the best upcoming top 1s are grief and ath, amethyst is good but can get boring, same with APT and Flamewall, the biggest problem with flamewall imo is thats its soo long that its hard to keep interest in it. Even tho its a decent level, which also stands for Apt. Vehemence is good i just never gained a big interest in it. And orochi is forgotten lol. I am interested to see what happens with banshee tho.

This is such a based take, I'm going to go against the grain and say I love hell themed levels and their oppresive atmospheres. Yes, it's overused but I still love the style. I never want to say this because the general community consensus is that these levels are bad for that reason. I think when done right like in grief and some parts of apt, it's an amazing style

Although obviously the quality of a level is completely subjective but my personal favorite would be exasperation, I also disagree with some things said in the video such as the fact that the best theme for a top 1 is hell theme with which I do not agree, a An example of this is Zodiac or Sonic Wave Infinite which in my opinion are much better than all the other top 1s that came out later, which is why for me there is no such thing as "a best theme for a top 1" (as with grief in comparison with tidal wave, grief is in my opinion better than tidal wave, but not because of the theme but because of the quality of the 2 levels) And even though, as I already said, the quality of a level is subjective, grief does not seem like the best upcoming top 1 to me. And also the reasons why other upcoming top 1s are not as good seem little to me, especially with such good levels. Still I think it's a good video

I dont know which level I want to be top 1, vehemence or grief. Vehemence is special to me, because my first ever proper video game was terraria. Grief however is just really good on its own. Silent acropolis and banshee are honestly really cool too. God, there are so many amazing upcoming top 1s.

Your opinion is fine but another edgy hell as a top 1 is pretty unoriginal and I don’t see how people continue to like it, but it does give off the atmosphere of a top 1 which is kind of why people hate Tidal wave, more volcanic themes like Avernus would be nice but that’s still close to hell and I’d even take more dark themes like firework other a ton of hell level, but recently there’s been more levels heading for top 1 that are outside those themes that I like such as apocalyptic trilogy, Aquamarine (it’s a nine circles level but it’s getting a little credit because of the colors), ton 618 remake (I like idea of a black hole themed top1) and more.
