To anyone new to guns, the build up of residue happens way faster than you'd expect. I bought 100 rounds of the cheapest 9mm ammo after buying my first gun and I couldn't believe just how dirty that stuff got. I've moved up to better quality ammunition since then for a cleaner experience, but you'll want to buy a cleaning kit and oil/grease right away with your first gun.
Weapon's maintenance is paramount in proper function. As a retired gunsmith and police armourer of 30 years, 75% of all repairs brought to me were due to a total lack of maintenance. I cannot understand the mentality of never cleaning a weapon. But many do just that. Putting it bluntly, that's really stupid.😒
