Narendra Modi is expected to serve another term as Prime Minister of India, but with a significantly reduced majority.
He will have to partner up with other parties to form the next government.
His governing BJP failed to win a clear majority after a six-week-long parliamentary elections.
With this setback, many are now asking whether Modi's strategy to reshape India has backfired.

i fully agree. this time i think BJP has gone too far. by alienating your own muslim indian population and mind you some of the BJP leaders hate speech were really inflammatory in nature, it has caused many peace loving indians a lot of uneasiness especially when Modi seems to encourage it. This win is win for them. But it's also a win for Indian democracy, because now BJP cannot unilaterally strong arm bills through the legislative without tabling it with allies and opposition. It's a result that nipped the BJP from being authoritarian by strengthening other secular and regional parties and strengthened India's democratic checks and balances in the legislative process.
