Description: A life of health anxiety is no life at all. These are the words my mentor told me that created enough dissatisfaction within me to begin turning around my life with health anxiety. Health anxiety (hypochondria) can be a consistent miserable emotional state of living if you allow it to grow without stopping the cycle.
In this video we'll dive deep into a number of very important principles to understand when it comes to health anxiety recovery. We'll discuss the 70/30 concept, where most health anxiety sufferers live throughout their day. We'll also touch on the checklist that hypochondriacs have before falling victim to the negative emotional states when those checklists aren't met.
Understanding this video will lead to immense clarity as to the most important question when it comes to health anxiety, and that is; 'How did I get myself in this cycle, and what keeps it going.' So begin today to take this powerful knowledge and gain a deeper connection to how it relates to your own health anxiety challenges. Action will always follow a well understood idea, and will be much more effective in turn.
Please Share This Powerful Video With Anyone Who Currently Is Going Through Health Anxiety Challenges, And Needs Guidance Towards Turning The Cycle Around.

Whenever that happens to me, I ask myself two questions: 1. Would I even have noticed this sensation if I just went about my life and didn't pay constant attention to my body or is this sensation bad enough that I would have noticed it anyway? 2. Will it get better if I sit down, drink some tea and tell myself it's just stress? If the answer to question 1 is no and to question 2 yes, I know it's purely psychological, and then the symptoms disappear. If they don't, I go to the doctor. That and telling myself that if something was REALLY wrong with my body, I'd absolutely 100% know it because it would feel way different, really helps.

What might help is a visualization. Imagine yourself talking to your doctor, she is smiling and telling you that "everything is fine." You are young and you will be ok. Try to imagine the details: the scents, sights, sounds of the experience. Your brain will respond as if it really happened, with the same chemical response, creating feelings of calm. This helps to rewrite a positive feeing over the fearful thoughts. Just like when you imagine the Dr telling you it's cancer and you feel it, an imagined positive experience can also feel as real. I've realized that as you face your fear and your anxiety and resolve one physical symptom, another symptom will pop up in a different part of your body, and so on. It's like chasing a ghost through a large house. It means you are making progress!

I’ve had health anxiety ever since my grandmother died when I was six years old. It was tolerable, until my father passed from pneumonia complications when I was 9. Since then, I’ve been going in and out of severe hypochondria. Big things I worry about are brain cancer, breast cancer, leukemia, lupus, heart attacks, blood clots, pneumonia, tumors in general, undiagnosed severe mental disorders and so much more. Everyday I constantly believe small symptoms mean I’m going to die. I have always been prone to headaches and around this time of year they are always more common, and I have convinced myself I have a brain tumor or an aneurysm. Even when I’m not anxious I convince myself it’s an advanced brain tumor messing with my thinking. I’m so scared of my life getting completely destroyed again. It sucks because I try to find help with anxiety but while I do have generalized anxiety, and experience it in all forms, health anxiety is the worst and I feel it isn’t talked about enough. A long comment lol, but thank you for making this video❤️

I'm the same way, I had a pain in my lower stomach for a while and I'm convinced it's cancer along with other things I found that I believe are cancer. I'm absolutely terrified of hospitals and doctors too, and I've never gotten anything checked out. I went once to the doctor and she said I was fine but she only did one test and I wasn't comfortable with telling her all the other problems I have. It's gotten to the point where I've lost close friends because of my fear. I don't even think I'll make it past this year, it must sound so silly but it's true. I'm constantly questioning what will happen in the future, I didn't sleep at all last night and I haven't gotten out of bed today. My parents say I'm just overreacting and don't have anxiety, but I'm pretty sure I do. I don't tell anyone about these little things because they'll complain about me overreacting and take me to the doctor and I don't want that.

Health anxiety when you have actual real scary diagnoses and health struggles is by far the most difficult thing I’ve ever dealt with. Your vitamins and adrenals get low and the cycle continues. I’m working on retraining my brain not to fear more pain and possible death, but finding the positives or small improvements and living in the moment. It takes a lot of reframing and effort. It was depressing me when it started. Fear of death was a what kicked mine off. It left me so low, lower than i've ever felt before. Like everything was pointless. I had ameeting with my doctor. She gave me a book to read "Staring At the Sun" by Irvin D Yalom. It was a great kick start but it wasn't enough. The depression was too strong. So I turned to music. I put Bon Jovi on and started trying to sing along as loud as possible. I danced when I was in teh middle of a jitter run. dancing and singing gave me a way to gain control over my body without havign to go for a walk. it also beat the shit out of my depression. Changing myself like that and my outlook in teh middle of depression forced my depression to end. I feel now liek life is worth living to the point that I'm thankful I got that first panic attack. it was the kick up the arse I needed. I've starte dplaying my bass guitar again, I've started long put aside DIY projects. I've got more involved in my family and friends, gone to gigs again and got on te bike again. While it was awful, the anxiety I have now is something that drives me to be better. Changing how i viewed it was the only way I could deal with it and it worked for me.

My problem is constant thinking that I have a heart issue despite numerous visits to doctors who all say that I'm perfectly healthy, yet for some odd reason no amount of logic will stop me from this thought process, and its especially made worse when I start to hyperventilate or get a pinch feeling in my heart area that barely lasts seconds, this may sound ridiculous to a 'normal' person but throw in the constant worrying about my health and I've got a problem.

Chloe Martin I used to have an average diet, wasn't too short on any nutrients thankfully, but even though it was confirmed to not be heart related and that everything is fine, the fear is definitely tipping me on a more healthier side of the spectrum, and don't worry, I enjoy a spoonful of nutella myself, if you personally enjoy dark chocolate then that is actually mostly beneficial, and even a new study shows that milk chocolate to a certain degree does reduce cardiovascular risk (here is the link: m.huffpost.com/us/entry/7595358)

This is very true. The moment I get lazy and begin allowing myself to sit around doing nothing, that is when I get inside my head and begin questioning EVERY little thing and then that leads to "researching"/googling things which almost always ends in disaster for me. I begin sentencing myself to death and the anxiety/panic starts. Usually ends in me having an attack that I eventually cannot handle myself and thinking the attack is caused by my "illness" that I now believe I have and me running to an emergency room where the doctors run a full battery of tests and tell me that they cannot find anything wrong. After they tell me this, all symptoms slowly go away. I just went through this same routine again this past week. It's time for me to recognize what is going on and take action.

This is such a beautiful video.. my pull is my daughter and my husband... I am in this journey post covid.. had medition for less than a month but wanted to do without meds.. took therapies.. last was a month ago.. my goal was to manage and distance my therapy sessions.. and I think I have crossed a month without sessions.. also the session or triggers are less frequent but it's there.. I am able to navigate through the discomfort..but at times I feel I was ok for long time then why again suddenly.. my triggers I have identified as others health news .. others situation.. and my own body discomfort.. as you said my mind is in constant guarding mode to not get triggered which is tiring.. but your videos have given me direction and ways to do better.. you are doing so much good you don't know .. blessings from all of us

I needed to hear this. I have had anxiety and depression for a long time. I drove to my dad's yesterday to see how he was doing. He wasn't in a good mood and triggered me by telling me to get lost and disappear. I dropped to the floor. Those words sent me into a full blown panic attack. I couldn't help but start to shake and cry. Next blow came from my mom. She knew I was there and told me to get it together and go rest, she sighed, said OMG I can't listen to this and hung up on me. They tag teamed me probably because they don't like each other. I don't know what I did to deserve such blatant disregard for my feelings by such horrible words and actions. I have not had sleep all night and many other nights. Those two actions in one day put me in a state of sheer unbelief. now feel that they were toxic for me. They cut me to the bone and blamed it on me and wondered why I WAS UPSET. I'm sickened and feel worthless. Long comment and too much info. You're words were speaking to me just when I needed to hear this. Do you give your opinions or advice? My parents don't deserve to listen to my problems but they brought it on and I will never hear an apology. Who's toxic here? Me or them. They act as if I'm a leapor when I'm close to the edge and can't get this out of my head.

My doctors have no explanation as to why. Only stating yes to the stroke showing in MRI and CT scan. Ive anxiety medication for the last 6 months. I’ve been battling this since March of this year. Your video makes complete sense it’s just so hard I don’t know where to start

I'm a "mind over matter" thinker. Well. I was that. Thanks to you, I'm thinking differently. I'm just beginning my journey, but have seen some significant differences in my life. I came across your video on affirmations for anxiety and it has helped some. I have severe health anxiety that now is manifesting physically not just thoughts. I understand now a little more through your videos that this is something that happens when we concentrate on what we are feeling. I went to a reg GP had all types of blood work and I was fine, I was referred to a psychiatrist which prescribed meds and I never took them. I know I can manage this through more natural methods, and your videos have helped tremendously. Being a single mom of 3, and having health anxiety has really affected even my children. Thank you again

I have health anxiety since 2016. It all started when a baseball ball hit on my face at beach (yes at the beach..) and from that I had terrible vertigos. The sense of spining around all the time and all day had crushed me out and make me give up on life. After the summer holidays I was gone to so many doctors and they diagnosed I have BBPV. My vertigos are still ruining sometimes the quality of life and that gives more anxiety to the fact I think I'll this way all my life. The problem didn't sto p there I was developing heart racing problems and palpitations. I have visual snow and tinnitus also. I'm only 17 years old the this year is the most important for me because here in Greece we take exams for University. The depression and anxiety keep some days hostage in my own mind and the thoughts hunting me... I'm so alone kn this journey. My parents laugh at me sometimes because the think I overreact. I feel so alone..

Vivian Viti You have no idea how close this msg got to me . I'm 18 , and I began to have severe health anxiety 6 months ago when I developed Visual snow , during my anxiety I devolved healthy anxiety about my heart racing . I started to really start worrying about my heart , my heart rate , my breathing 24/7 non stop ... my anxiety turned to depression and constant stress about my heart , I then began to develop pains , and that only worsened my anxiety 100x ... all I could do is think and worry about my health and pains ... all day long non stop .. it has gotten so bad that Iam now afraid to even get out of bed and do any physical activity , because when I do I worry and stress about my heart . It has become living hell ... the doctors day I'm fine and it's anxiety and depression ... you're NOT alone .. keep fighting . Its okay to seek help for your anxiety . I hope you're doing well . Bless

Plus ... my parents were he same ... they don't believe in mental health issues . But the doctors saw how bad my anxiety was and they're educated on it now ... they're just miss informed . Don't be afraid to talk to them like I was , they'll try in help once they realize what's going on Im sure ..

Wow this is your best video! I want to make a list of all my reasons for getting over my anxiety. I’m always saying no I don’t want this anymore. I’m actually tired of it, cooped up ! It’s been a bit better lately, so many changes in my life. I am afraid of getting symptoms for sure each day, and I spend the 70% in it. I do wish it would just stop of course, who doesn’t. I’m in uncharted territory I feel. I never thought about the reasons I have to overcome this, it’s real. Your words are so in tact with the truth of what anxiety people go through. I got to point where I don’t want to drive or go to work, but in order to pay bills I have to. It’s a challenge road. I want to feel confident and stress free!

You are unbelievably amazing. It is as though you are speaking about me in all of your videos with the different situations and thoughts. It is exactly how I feel and think in many instances that you describe. I was doing so well for about 2 years and all of a sudden recently, I had a huge panic attack a few weeks ago that lasted for about 10 minutes. I did not though turn back and go home. I instead completed my errands and felt great about not giving into my anxiety. I have since been having panic attacks more often and am trying to let them pass and just ignore them. I will sign up for your program since I love your approach. I look forward to committing for 3 months. XOXOXO Soriah

I lost my dad due to Covid-19 last year and 5 months after I lost my youngest brother. Since than I’ve been thinking will I be next? Recently I was diagnosed with frequent UTIs and I’ve been doing all these tests to find out why. I’ve been overthinking a lot and recently had my first anxiety and panic attack and I also think I have depression because one day I’m ok and next day I’m down. I think this caused me by having anxiety and it’s scary. I know my God will heal me from this🙏

Dennis its hard to find reasons when a life time of exercise (72 yrs) has contained anxiety and its not an option anymore. Your kids are grown and are overseas with your grand children. Your partner does not know how to be supportive wont read up on anxiety and avoids too much interaction. I feel out on a limb totally alone in this struggle and stuck and although the survival mode has changed, frustration and depression has taken its place. Age was never a factor neither death I am 77 soon and cant see the light which I always saw in the past no matter my circumstances and there have been tough times but running was the mask. I want to exercise. I was exercise I cant see a future without it. Is there anyone out there my age who has overcome. Is there still time. I know I am healthy that everything is a symptom of anxiety not a disease yet its a daily struggle. I feel thank all you great advice is for younger people. People my age accept losing various functions I never have until now. Dont know where to take this feeling it's too foreign.

I couldn't sleep on my left side(where your heart is) because I was afraid I would have a heart attack. I never took medications. Eventually it went away. Rarely I'll feel this way again. Suffering many years from severe health anxious and Ocd I struggle so much to live each day without collapsing. I have troubles living my Life , ho outside, socialize etc. My Life has really become difficult and miserable. I try not to focus on my symptoms but staying at home with my toddler alone many hours a Day fuels my depression and anxiety cycle. I noticed that when my minds forgets my physical symptoms for a while it seems I don't even have them and then I go back and they are there again louder and worse. Do you also get this thing?? I generally believe that when we are not satisfied with our reality our minds focus on everything weird to make us obsess and being afraid of something. Wish you all the best to your healing journey?

Your videos are so very helpful and genuine. You help me a lot through this everyday struggle. I’m currently going through the worst health anxiety and I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life. I’m only 31 but most days I feel 90 and like I’m dying. I know it’s my mind but always end up believing something is medically wrong with me. All day everyday... currently I’m dealing with extreme daily gas/bloating and haven’t gotten any answers from doctors due to my lack of insurance most wont run any tests. My constant gas is the latest symptom in my list of many that seems to take over my day and life. Is this just another a symptom of anxiety? Is constant gas and bloating a symptom for some? Wish I could get over this, every day I feel so close to it clicking that it’s just anxiety and then a few days later I’m back to being constantly overwhelmed.... thank you for your videos

I am 53 years old and have struggled with aniexity and panic since I was 18. My Father had it so bad he became an alcoholic. I have tried so many things to remedy This. I went thru the panic away program and it helped a little. I get it mostly at night and first thing in the morning. Heart racing.. Blood pressure up... Horrible feeling of panic. I won't go anywhere far from a hospital because I feel as if I could die. Even though nothing ever happens. I don't die. My body is so worn out after all the years of aniexity. I started juicing and taking supplements. Magnesium and potassium. B complex. Last night when I got home from. Work I decided I did not care what aniexity was going to do to me I was just going to get on with my life. I was like.... Fine just kill me. Of course it diddent. Lol. I put my headphones on and listened to old 80s music and did some knitting. For some reason. That really helped. When I sit and think about the fear it just makes it worse. I want to go to a new years eve party with my husband out of town and I keep obsessing about it. What if I panic??? So on and so forth ... You know the conversation that goes on. In going to try what you said here. Thanks

Yesterday I decided to start fighting (again, another attempt). I was full of hope, doing okayish but after some time I had another health anxiety attack (my bf wants to take me to a roller coaster place on the weekend) and as much as I don´t fear high speed or falling out of it, I worry about another thing that is connected with my high myopia... I´m sure that such a roller coaster ride will cause so called retinal detachment. I cannot get rid of this thought. I want to try, have fun and not to think about what may or may not happen.. Today my health anxiety free journey begins again..I will try again.. Keep your fingers crossed for me

i constantly fight with feeling like my fight or flight response is fucked. this past thursday,i went to a job interview/job fair, and sat in a room with about 15 - 20 other people. it was quiet, except for some low playing music on a computer in the room,60's - 70's classic rock or whatever. as im waiting for my name to be called for the interview,i start freaking out in my head, breathing kinda heavy, but not to where it shows,my heart was racing like crazy, and feeling like i needed to get out of there, now. i kept looking at the floor, hardly looking up. i couldnt look near or close to the persons who where sitting next to me,about arms length away, maybe closer. in the end,i ended up closing my eyes, putting my head down, and counting down from 100. all while this is happening, the people around me are watching/looking at me,thinking ether woe i cant believe hes sleeping while waiting for an interview,or... what the hells wrong with this dude? after i left(got the job, start on tuesday) i felt so much better, but i felt so fucking mad at myself/sad... i wanted to relax, and be ok,but my own mind and body feel like i cant even control it when it comes to being around or near people.... i hate this shit.

I feel like the past few days I've been getting the 70/30 rule but 40/60. 40% of the time (usually an hour or 2 after waking up and before going to bed) I'm completely in my head, not engaging with anything, just thinking about my symptoms or anxiety. I can be doing things trying to keep my mind of the anxiety, but really I'm still mostly in my head, not really thinking about what I'm doing. But after waking up a little bit and clearing my head, I get back to my normal self and can engage with things, which is how I am for 60% of the day. My health anxiety only really started around a week ago, and I can remember the exact moment it all started, so I've been using some advice I got from your videos and been going back on that memory of that moment and thinking it over, imagining how I would have liked to react, and using knowledge I've gained since that moment to reassure myself. It's helped out a lot, and I think I'll be doing this for a lot of other things.

Wendy Lock Absolutely Wendy, here’s one recent podcast episode to get caught up on: theanxietyguy.com/childhood-trauma-turns-into-an-anxiety-disorder/ In terms of programs I would recommend the end the anxiety program here: theanxietyguy.com/my-program/ ❤️
