So are you suggesting the doctors hire health coaches or that the health coach charge the patient directly for the private coaching?

Great question! We can’t speak for Dr. Shaunna Menard, but we believe that health care professionals are doing the best they can to manage their patients’ needs. However there seems to be a need for additional support to assist patients in reaching their health goals, not to mention increase quality of life for happiness and longevity. A lot of doctors don’t have the time to sit down exclusively with each individual patient on an ongoing basis. So they are finding that they can work alongside Health Coaches to provide that one-on-one attention that may be needed. Some doctors hire Health Coaches to be a part of their staff, while some will partner with private Health Coaches on a referral basis. I hope that helps answer your question! Please feel free to email admissions@integrativenutrition.com with any additional questions!

Hi Zenergy Massage! What a coincidence! Surprisingly I happened upon this video just a day after you posted. I agree with IIN's response. I have seen this work both ways. Both are right answers. It very much depends on the practice and the individual doctor. Increasingly, more medical doctors are open to recommending/referring to health coaches ... in which case the health coach charges the patient directly and the doctor is not directly responsible for the health coach. That is usually easier for most doctors to recommend. A practice where the doctors hire health coaches is much less common but is also increasing - especially within holistic practices, naturopaths, functional medicine doctors and chiropractors. Thanks for asking.

Dr Shaunna thankyou. I am an RN and massage therapist and interested in coaching people with chronic pain and fibromyalgia. Going to be approaching local doctors soon about referrals to me. Just not sure how receptive, they will be.

@@ZenergyHQ Some doctors are definitely more receptive than others. I've taught previously at IIN about how to approach doctors. They can be an excellent referral source for health coaches (after all, that is where people go when they are looking to be healthy). Happy to connect for a quick call and share some ideas with you depending on what you are looking for. I touch on this subject in my book "Free to Heal: 9 Steps to a Successful, Soul-Satisfying Health Coaching Practice." Happy to give you a free copy if you would like. I am on FB as Shaunna Menard. ❤️
