For a game that was never on my radar, it's hands down the best value purchase I've made. The hours I've sunk in alone and it's still just as fun now as when I started 😅
The greatest part of this game is the developer is not tied down by shareholders. So besides Sony giving them soft deadlines and requirements related to patches and the like, theyre 100% in control of the game trajectory. It is most likely why this game is so fun, because they got the autonomy to make said game. Pay attention EA and Ubisoft, this is how it is done right
I love how the legend of Malevelon Creek lives as this epic super difficult invasion, where heroes lost their lifes to preserve democracy, but ultimately failed as Automaton forces were just too overwhelming and planet just too harsh. When in reality it was just players focusing bugs at that time and those who went to Malevelon just being absolutely unprepared to face bots :D. Once we returned we liberated it within few hours of it being major order
Grenade pistol is the goat. Just as good as the impact grenades which means you can use stuns or smokes and the grenade pistol. Takes out mediums. Bug holes. All manor of bots. And you get 8/9 rounds.
i would like to see some kind of " intrude " type mission . like youre squad must go underground into a tunnel system and keep pressing forward in a labyrinth of corridors to obtain a mcguffin . that would be so awesome
Or like spec ops mode.. where the game chooses map, objective, and load out.. then you go do the mission like a capture/ kill. Seek and destroy, or just recon..
Fun is the meta. I'm currently having fun with the Spear, 120MM, 380MM and walking orbital. Lobbing all 3 orbitals inside a huge bot base with fabricators, tanks, and hulks is so satisfying. Once the bombardment is over, it's kinda funny to see a single bot manning a turret. Oblivious to the fact that its base is now a parking lot.
@@tripod-gaming Or that single squadmate who, even after seeing the orbital screen and audio prompts, still runs inside the blast zone trying to be a hero but starts scrambling away once they see those explosions. Buddy, those are orbital bombardments. Not one of those pussy ass Eagle strikes.
This game takes strategy and tactics. Skill goes along with that. They've done a great job. I've said there's no meta since day 1. People just didn't really know what this game was, what it is.
Theres no big brand like star war, star trek etc with a game F2P like this. The more popular, the more expensive to play and keep up it is. Well done helldivers.
It also has almost zero marketing. Unlike triple A developers, they don't release fancy videos of upcoming stuff nor have hyped-up roadmaps. They just drop stuff in the game and let us discover them. Honestly, it's a breath of fresh air.
It really is and it just feels so awesome! Like we dropped in a few weeks back and suddenly shrieker nests were a thing, We did not expect to be getting dive bombed but it was so cool to experience for the first time in that way
I am totally hooked on this game, but I have one complaint: Mandatory fire tornadoes on extract site. Dumb mechanic. The Pelican pilot couldn't just land 30 yards over where the air is not on fire? As a dungeon master, for a joke I once rolled all my dice, picked up my screen and announced to my players they took that much "wandering damage". They didn't think it was funny either.
Oh dude you are spot on with that! So annoying when you get fire tornados on the extract or on objectives, yeah we'll just stand here and wait till you disappear so we can actually complete the mission!
Pretty much any loadout I choose to bring is meta. If I can complete solo Helldive with nothing but turrets and my secondary, your loadout really doesn't matter unless you're bringing the absolute worst stratagems or weapons (like the Scythe or the smoke orbital).
This is exactly what I tell people. There is no single meta loadout. I’ve done well with all major of loadouts. Changes based on the mission type. I’ve played with people that use the exact same loadout for every mission type and I’m always reviving them multiple times because the internets said “this is the best loadout blah blah blah”. Thank you for feeling this way man. I love the diversity when it comes to loadouts.
@@claydice1315I mean I use the same loadout for the most part but that’s not from the internet telling me but because it suits the playstyle I have formed/role I like to play. Load out is: - Some form of Light Armor( I really like the one that provides 2 extra stims or the recoil reduction passive - Sickle or Scorcher depending on bugs/ bots - 500KG bomb - Eagle Airstrike - Shield Backpack - Quasar Cannon I’m trying to branch out though to add spice to the game but that load out provides with me with a healthy level of independence and initiative to quickly take out the most painful enemies and manage the small crowds off me I have tried a lot of other stuff but anything that is damage over time is currently not working correctly and as such pretty useless and the marksman rifles as much as I would love to use them currently don’t perform well. Shotguns just are not my style but I love the new crossbow for good fun if I’m not grinding which I’m not anymore since I have max stack for all the super samples and all upgrades unlocked right now so now I’m just playing for fun on helldive mode
That’s the story behind the malevolent creeek? I thought it was because players ignored it whilst liberating other planters that it went into enemy control
They are known and hatedd for kind of good reason. Their commuinity is composed of memes and cringe roleplayers on tik tok...The creek players are among some of the most hyper toxic "players" in the game. they refuse to play any other mission. Even if there is a major order. Spam videos and media involving helldivers. with "we fight for the creek" and other such obnoxious garbage, Its not just like one or two. Its an entire community that actively rejects doing anything. other than spaming and cringe roleplaying on tik tok and in comment sections. They play the same map over and over. In the larger picture they do kind of harm the community. Both image wise and gameplay wise. They are also some of the biggest problem cases in terms of demanding you play meta or be kicked. They do this becouse the devs aknowlaged them positively. ONCE. now they think they are a big deal.
The creek memes were hilarious and really added to the reason many players flocked to the game. Don't think the tiktok stuff is that deep to be honest mate. It's a bit of fun
What i think would make this game even a little better is, that the Orders are only simple Text Massagen. A small Video like the "do you wnant to know more" Videos from stra ship troopers would be awesome
@@tripod-gaming No, that's what I mean haha. The only meta that matters in the game is having fun. What's the railgun's dps? Who cares, do you have fun using it?
I never experienced the kicking. I've been kicked once in almost 300hrs, and it was because I was the random in the group, and they were making room for their friend
@@tripod-gaming Yeah, maybe a vote to kick wouldn't be a bad idea. In my experience, people have been much less toxic in this game than ANY other multiplayer I've ever played. There's a sense of camaraderie. I'm sure there's always a few bad apples, but it's generally been good for me personally
The only thing I would like in this game is proper solo gameplay balance, it just sucks right now. (I'm talking about broken stealth and constantly dropping enemies)
Helldivers solution is just so good with the whole interactive map. Imagine the same thing with Mass Effect 3 reaper invasion or Warframe whole "New War" thing. Having a game managed by ppl (by gamers first) is just so good. Ppl get invested quickly. I don't think having a pass with cpntent each month is a good solution. maybe 6-7 weeks (so 1 mont and half) would be easier on the studio. IT's also less bloated. Imagine after 2 years the inane amount of content and its playtime needed.
Oof. This video kinda aged like milk. I was 100% on board with this take, and now? Welp, turns out Helldivers 2 isn't actually special. Just another game made by a company and published by a corporation, and fuck the players (and the game itself).
You also left out that you can be a lvl 10 and the game treats you as a lvl 100.. your skill lvl is what your limit.. the amount of team comms and co-op strategy building you use dictates you success..
Yeah I totally agree it's great that jumping on as a newer player doesn't affect your ability to dive with much higher levels!! Comms is massive though
Honestly I have never seen nor do I know anyone who's ever seen people kicked for bringing the 'non-meta' loadout. Guess that IGN article created some really strong mandela effect.
I just want them to make it so players who disconnect due to server overload keep the samples the team had at time of disconnect. Doing a 6-9 mission only to disconnect and be unable to get back in, on account of their server being absolutely slammed is fucking annoying. Quit until things are addressed.
Yeah this is definitely annoying but unfortunately that's the case with alot of games, for example if you are disconnected from a game on fifa, you get a loss, or if you disconnect from a cod match, no XP for you.
@@SplitFinn Samples are more valuable than EXP and requisition. If you can pick up samples and disconnect yet still keep them, players would abuse that method. It would also be frustrating for players who legit want to complete the mission and side objectives. Players joining your game only to intentionally disconnect after a few seconds to farm those samples your squad already has. That's just annoying.
Sony owns the IP, and even 3rd party devs are saying it isn't worth developing on Xbox, so it'll never happen. It's Microsoft fault for training their consumers to not buy games, and trying to demonize $70 games to slander PlayStation
This game is SECRET EARLY ACCESS! They do it so clever tho and get away with it Illuminate are not kept from us by lore reasons, they are simply not finished to begin with Mechs were also "Given" to us, as a reward for a story event, when they were FINISHED being produced. This is a clever illusion. Would they sell a game that felt complete with more than a 3rd of it's planned content cut and not call it early access? ofc not Looking at how HD1 has encyclopedia, highscore lists etc, and a functional war and a 3rd race and all, this is FAR from a complete game in any single way We are not drip fed NEW content, we are drip fed FUNDAMENTAL content as per any early access game and how they function
Thats surely a good thing though, most games these days are unfinished but they still charge £70 for them, this is half of that, feels very much finished, has free battle pass and in game currency you can earn simply from playing, and also has plenty of content to come.
@@tripod-gaming A good thing is being HONEST tho. An even better thing is not releasing something that is BROKEN, that people cannot enjoy fully. They should have been honest about it to that degree. How on earth you call that a "good thing" blows my mind, sounds like blind fanboyism if anything. You can love the game, even tho it's broken as hell, but don't come and call it a good thing
@@tripod-gaming I'll add this as well, yes the game is "free" and all that, right now it's pretty much a non issue for anyone playing rigidly and getting all the warbonds fast. But their plan is one warbond per month, in just a few months from now on any new player will feel overwhelmed by all the "micro dlc's", and how do you assume a new player would farm many thousands of super credits to get them all? You're truly not getting the full game at that point, and buying extra super credits will become more and more essential for getting all the content
Well I'm glad we 'BLEW YOUR MIND' hahah. How can people not just enjoy a game for what it is, what major issues are there? It's tonnes cheaper and feels/ plays amazing. Especially impressed that they are a much smaller studio who got very much overwhelmed by its popularity and are now doing really well with the game. Just ENJOY it mate, call it fanboyism, we call it enjoying a unique game rather than sulking its not exactly the way you want it.
When I hear "live service" I think Suicide Squad. And further, Sim City, Diablo 3, and you know... raw sewage. As far as I'm concerned , Helldivers 2 is good despite being a live service game.
There were many PVE games that could have changed the gaming industry DRG, Vermintide come to mind. And they were built off of Helldivers 1's concepts But i guess having Sony Money backing Marketing really works haha
Thanks buddy! Yeah I can see the issue for some people but to be fair we are unaffected as PlayStation/PC players who all linked our accounts from day one, so to us it's still our favourite game this year so far
Going to have to disagree, we've certainly found it much more than a distraction for a few weeks, plus the amount of content they are going to drop will keep it interesting for a long time
The last part. this community is as toxic as leauge or overwatch. the only diffrence is the devs are not woke. It will not last long though. the community is HYPER toxic. almost worse than the former two games combine.
Jesus is the only way to heaven Being a good person won’t get you there. “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 ESV Repent from your sin(disobedience to God) and turn to God and follow Him so that you will be saved “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 ESV “No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” Luke 13:3 ESV
It will probably be best coop game but not GOTY no, plenty of things that it needs to sort out, the balancing is still pretty bad, bugs/glitches there are lots... and the drama needs to settle.
Played the game, nice first 25 hours, then when its all unlocked its very flat. Mission all the same, weak weapon with no identity nor feeling got to be meta and in higher dif u just stealth and run, and get stuck in every rock. "Story" no. "Control over the narrative ? Its the same dude who attacjs and orders u, that make as much sense as playing chess alone and uncall it genius ? Its just getting frustrating and i play games for fun. Im from Deep Rock Galactic btw.
I disagree, the longer we play the better we get which automatically makes you up the intesity of the game, higher difficulties bring different challenges and with the like of Major orders there is always a different enemy advance to push back. The player do control the narrative because the more we play in a certain area the more another enemy can advance.
@@tripod-gaming if y enjoy it good for u but it factually lacks of content, at least for me. There is no narrative, what happend when you win ? Like cyberstan ? 3 days later they were back. And if you lose ? Nothing at all. It has no impact on the gameplay no restriction nor authorisation, just a twitter lore feed 😂 and a lot of passionate making the game alive. Once you ll get bored, it ll instantly die. I'll give it a new try in a couple of month to see new stuff but i dont have much hope
There's no way you get bored of this game after 25hrs. Playing on impossible or helldive difficulty makes every encounter feel different. The planet terrains play a role too, the different weapons, stratagem use. It's much more deeper than you're suggesting. Makes me think you didn't play it past Challenging difficulty
@@cell9899 well i got bored mate. I dont rly have time to enjoy the green, white or yellow deserts (veryyyyyyyyyy original btw, i wish their was neutral enemies or local life or ecosystem, feels very empty except if u worship rocks) when i get bumped by 3 hulks, 2 tanks, artillary and a bunch of devastators i cant argue with due to that poor range of weapon :/ Quasar and eruptor feels good but so slow i get killed 10 times before using them and after that i repop without, ennemies camping their location making it impossible to get it back. Feels more painful than even fair or fun. I dont enjoy that "challenge". I better like brutal facing games than kill accross the map then run to avoid conflict thats impossible to win or despawn ennemies ;). I can play fast but the weapon are so slow to deploy, switch, reload, stims activation, aiming, im litteraly cancelling so many action bc the game is "realistic" in other words for me not adapted to a fast pace gameplay when the amount of ennemy would require so. Im fine with the fact to be OS but in that case i shoud be able to do it too and this game as no balance around armor pen sooooo... Again if u enjoy playing this kind of game, go for it, but definitly not goty (weak gunplay, mission repetition, balance, overwhelming bugs) was more my POV, i know i wont convince u guys, got f by democracy invaded by illuminates ;p
The success: not falling for loud minorities. No sweet baby inc, no politics, no forced agenda. And the best: no greed like we know from "AAA" gaming For Super Earth!
