Interesting that the narrator was never told why humans in a low gravity ship need a workout regimen as it's needed to prevent muscle and bone atrophy.

Kind of like the "Andromeda" series where Dylan grew up on a high gravity world. Good show, another by Roddenberry.

What would you call an Avian species' equivalent to one of our furries? Cause damn if this guy doesn't have human-fever.

Good Question, they are called 'Oscine'. Which is an actual bird species and subspecies.

The furry community has in the past made jokes about furries are the equivalent to them for humans. Usually, they are called "fleshies." Not a fan of the term myself, but it is what they have used.

At this time, humans have accepted and practice the Unity of One, which holds that all life is connected and while there may be conflict among Sentients, there must be understanding that we are all one, as certain proponents of the human *String Theory* hold. All of the Strings that make up each atomic and subatomic presence in the Universe were part and descendant of the initial “Primary String,” that exploded into infinite sub parts during the creation of each Universe.

While I found some of the grammar and word choice odd, I feel the story entertaining. While the opinions of some is negative, at least in regards to the less-than-stellar behaviour of some of our fellow humans, I both think and feel that this story served its purpose, which is to entertain. Subsequent to that, I took the subtly offered opportunity to look to the stated opinions of the narrating alien to consider I might be viewed from such a perspective. Such is the power of stories. To the writer: please carry on in creating new stories.

Probably AI generated story, but anyway, the rule of translation. If the story is from the perspective of an alien, it has to be a faulty translation device, definitely not the author.

"cannot deny the undeniable" You don't say?

No but I can try!

It's a figure of speech, and I like it very much. One of the core mental capabilities of humans is the ability to, indeed, deny the undeniable and obvious. The ability to simultaneously believe two or more completely contradictory concepts, called cognitive dissonance, is related.

I can't shake the impression that the narrator is an Argonian!

Awe, awe, awe, awe. Dude, there are more words to describe something. ‘I can’t deny the undeniable’? We all know by now the humans are the best in the universe: the most honest, the smartest, loyal etc. Doyou ‘writers’ ever take a look at the world? What in the world of 2024 makes you think so highly about humanity?

The genre name, "HFY", is an acronym that stands for "Humanity, Fuck Yeah!". Specifically, it refers to stories, usually science fiction or fantasy, that intend to go against the cynical and pessimistic grain of mainstream media that masturbates over how powerless and pathetic and evil we are and instead asks "what if humans were actually the cool ones?" If you intend to continue to find existential pleasure in the slow yet inevitable decline of the human race, I suggest you avoid any content with this tag in the future.

What you're thinking about is Humanity's past compared to a possible future at this current time people advertise our flaws way too much we need to start recognizing that we are both our flaws and our strengths at the same time

This is pap dude. A literary human centipede - 'humans are the good guys' as a plot point in actually alright scifi stories written with thought and incorporating some life experience from the author, trickling down to modern pulp sci fi, trickling down into a bunch of channels going 'Whoa! The Navi are a bunch of savages! The Imperium of Man kicks ass!' until its a thing on youtube, trickling down to this. This is not a story - it reads like the alien is editing a DBZ Wikia article with power levels. The framing as a letter to his family is all but nonexistent. If the concept of exercising is so foreign to this alien, and nothing exists in his culture that would lead to it, why does he admire and respect it? This applies to a variety of points lionizing humanity in the 'story' with no narrative. It's a breathless redditor going on about biology facts, with the slightest window dressing of an alien talking about humans in space. And a mild case of scifi/fantasy too-many-goofy-names-for-things-itis. Read some books homie.

It is a long lived and popular genre of literature and media. 80s action movies, 50s cowboy movies, dime novels of the 1800s, pulp fiction, it has existed since print was invented. People enjoy relating to the good guy and watching the bad guy get defeated. Not every story, novel, or movie has to be Citizen Cane, people can enjoy Top Gun 2 as a fun romp that makes you feel good. They both evoke feelings.
