Why I’m CAUTIOUSLY Optimistic About The New Jurassic Park Movie 

So I rewatched the first 3 over the last month. Jurassic Park is awesome. Great movie, really well done. The Lost World has issues but it’s still really well made and has some great kills and feels like a quality Spielberg experience. Loved Roland Tembo. Jurassic Park 3 was shockingly wild at how sharp of a decline it was in terms of storytelling. Almost like a B-Movie. Now I’m kinda not sure what to expect haha

I hope they go back to a more horror oriented aesthetic. Dominion at times felt a bit too err friendly. There's a reason the Therizinosaurus scene was actually pretty good. I want the heart pumping tension that the Kitchen scene from Jurassic Park or the Cliff scene from The Lost World had. Also just better writing would be appreciated!!

I’m really hoping this next movie is Lost World-ish. I really like the dark tone for Jurassic.

The fact that this would be the shortest time gap of having a new Jurassic Park trilogy coming soon is both wild and admittedly a bit concerning. I’m still a longtime fan of the franchise and while I’m one of those who doesn’t dislike Dominion, I’m hoping the next movie will learn from its mistakes from the previous movie and go in a direction that will be interesting.

Okay, you got me with "Super easy, barely an inconvenience" I love when some of my favorite creators reference each other.

4:29 This was the biggest problem with the last film. The status quo at the end of Fallen Kingdom was 'dinosausrs now live on the mainland, so humans will have to learn to live with them.' The status quo at the end of Dominion is 'dinosausrs now live on the mainland, so humans will have to learn to live with them. Also mutant locusts exist in our dinosaur franchise, but not anymore cuz we got rid of them.' A new film could do almost anything since the last film did basically nothing.

I really want for this new movie to go back to having this edgy, 90s feel to it that actually is scary makes dinosaurs the main threat again that remain faithful to the consequences for dinosaurs being on the mainland like Michael Crichton originally envisioned. No stupid insect plot, don’t make it like a Hallmark movie with dinosaurs, ignore Camp Cretaceous. And most importantly, no making the T. rex look like a scrub and introducing another bigger badder Dino again, I’m legit sick of that nonsense, give us a new badass T. rex that showcases why it’s the king of the dinosaurs and have it kill a Spino easily with no help and no intervention because I want a new male T. rex that could be the King Kong or the Godzilla of this franchise. And another thing I want to see, bring back the JP The Game Troodon, novel accurate Carnotaurus that can camouflage and a full grown Dilophosaurus.

Man I wish that could do a prequel… events after the Lost World or JP 1 would be great. Dominion looked like Disney got involved with the series.

I think what made the JP movies better than the JW movies is having the dinosaurs as the focal antagonists instead of humans. Sure, there were Nedry and Ludlow in the first two films, but their villainy was more of a catalyst than the focus. Whereas Hoskins, Eli Mills, and Biosyn stole the spotlight and made the dinosaurs mostly incidental (as you mentioned). I say keep it focused on the dinosaurs and let the terror happen methodically.

Less action and more horror. That's all I want. And a flashback sequence

I can't imagine the next movie will carry on from Dominion at all. That movie was insanely unpopular and the studio know the extent of that. The upcoming film will most likely be a standalone entry, something that can be watched by people who didn't go see Dominion. I bet it'll even be called "Park" instead of "World".

I think Dominion’s biggest problem was it jumped the shark too many times and added really stupid elements for nothing more than a surprise. We need a more grounded story like the first movie no more evil corporations, no more hybrids, no more globe trotting, and especially no more dinosaur grudge matches

The need to do a Planet of the Apes style movie where the Dinosaurs have brought with them diseases that has decimated the human race with with the remaining humans fighting for their own existence. I'd love Speilberg to either return as Director or get Chistopher Nolan to direct but I don't think either of those will two will direct it tbh.

Idk if too many people are aware but David Koepp just wrote a movie that premiered at Sundance film festival called “Presence” which is being hailed as one of the scariest movies of all time, so I can definitely see this upcoming jurassic movie having horror elements

The crazy thing about Jurassic Park is that it doesn’t even need to be this giant world building thing that dominion tried to be. Think of fallen kingdom, where all the action happens in a mansion, or the original Jurassic Park, where the most tense points in the movie are in the visitor center. If they scaled this down a little and made us care about individual characters in danger, while focusing on our favorite dinosaurs, it’ll be great! If it’s another anti-capitalistic message powered by a Kathleen Kennedy type, then we’re screwed.

Pretty Awesome video on the new Jurassic Movie and nice points you’ve made on the video. I’m actually surprised that Steve Brusatte is back as a consultant and helping David Koepp and other filmmakers get a pulse on what we really know about dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures in general. Still can’t wait to see what they’re going for with all this and it’s about to get WILD and Life Definitely Finds A Way. I personally think Dominion should have been a Part 2 movie, while the extended version is better, it feels like two movies crammed into one. I'm glad David Koepp is coming back to write the new movie, and I would personally love to see Lex and Tim come back

I'm just hoping that the new movie will be much more epic than Jurassic World Dominion! I mean, to be completely honest, Dominion was okay. I just wished it had more...thrill and violence! Klayton, absolutely epic video today! Loved it! Keep up the great work! You're the best!

I hope that he new movie taps into the horror aspect of the books, and like you said, try to incorporate some missing scenes from the books. I also do feel like having a sub plot about chasing down Soyona would be good, but only if it is a sub plot and it doesn't cover the whole movie.

I really hope this installment is a lot darker than the most recent trilogy. I would like the studio to learn from Marvel and give us a mature rated addition to the franchise.

Idk, the last movie was more “ass” than Jurassic.

I'd like to see how much the baby Rex from Lost World has grown up and maybe take over from Rexy as the prime Rex since he's still young.

Tim, Alex, Spinosaurs and Isla Sorna i want to see. I would prefer a prequel of JP1 though where they show the problems of raising dino babys, the big beast killing her siblings, how they build the park, what kind of accidents happened etc.

I’d think it be cool if they were to bring in aspects from scrapped JP3: Extinction script and do a sizable time jump. This way if the dinosaurs passed a disease or virus to people it puts the remaining humans in a dinosaur overrun world. No matter what I’d like new dinosaur designs that capture the same likeness/quality as the original trilogy.

I’d be game for a Jurassic World movie about people and dinosaurs coexisting. Kind’ve like the movie Dominion’s marketing campaign promised us. I’d also enjoy a Jaws style Mosasaurus movie that takes place almost entirely at sea.

As a fan of this franchise I am hoping that this new movie will be headed into a much better direction. New dinosaurs but still bring back very familiar dinosaurs from previous movies. And hopefully that will change for the better.

If there is something I feel when I read Michael Crichton's books, it is this feeling of human impotence in the face of a greater "natural" force (although dinosaurs are a "human creation" in the story). The combination of "dense forest" and "ferocious dinosaurs lurking" is something exciting. You really transport yourself to story and imagine what it would be like to be in that extremely risky situation. And this happens not only because of the scenery, but because of the possibility of being eaten alive. Let's just remember Muldoon's death in the first film and Dr. Wu's death in the book (not to mention the description of the unrestrained killing that the group of Velociraptors promotes in the second book, etc.). The Jurassic World films suffer from the same problem as the Fast & Furious series: There is no danger for the main characters. Dinosaurs are just pets that surround the main plot, eventually eating, off-camera, some supporting character. It's ridiculous. And if this new film follows this formula, I'd rather it not be made at all.

I'd love to see either a prequel to Jurassic Park, or a movie set right after the events of Jurassic Park (like the new game).

If they do a new film, I want to see the Spinosaurus come back, if not that one, then maybe the hybrid SpinoRaptor. Another way they could go is the human dinosaur hybrid idea. I would imagine these being primarily used by the military, and that could lead into a planet of the apes type thing. Love your videos as always man, keep them coming.

Honestly, I would love a prequel movie, or trilogy. I think an off-shoot prequel movie would be epic, like how Rouge One was to the main timeline of Star Wars. And I think the premise that would be great would be how they got Jurassic Park and Sorna back under control for Jurassic World. Thats my dream film. However, realistically i think this is just gonna be another sequel series to JW and I just hope they give us good, scary, dinosaur interactions. And PLEASEEEE bring back spinosaurus to film lol

It could be great if Spielberg directs it... But the story is my main concern. What are they going to do with the plot NOW???? Agree that Koepp's writing will inherently be more compelling than whatever the heck Dominion was.

Honestly I think the Jurassic franchise needs to return to site b. We’ve been to Nublar 3 times we’ve seen them on the mainland but we haven’t seen site b for 23 years. I think Jurassic Park works best when it’s focused on dinosaurs and escaping the island. Dominion was bold as it tried something not really seen in the franchise as dinosaurs were all over the world again but as we all saw that movie didn’t really work out. I believe David Koepp can write a plausible and compelling story for the next movie without putting a lot of unnecessary crap into it

This really boosts my spirits. I like Dominion well enough, just not as the end of the whole series. It felt like an in-between episode. I'm glad there's going to be more.

Calling it now, we're getting Raptor Man, Ultimasaurus, and Doomsday Rex.

I think it will be more in line with what us fans want, I trust they heard feedback and are on course correction.

I definitely want a new movie because it would be pretty bad to leave the franchise with Dominion. I would want it to be about Sorna, as I always felt it was under-used and that diving into the lore of it could be really cool. I'm cautious about the film as well, but it would be hard to do worse than Dominion

Maybe for the next film they could use some inspiration from underrated dinosaur games like “Primal Carnage” or “The Isle”.

A part of me kinda hopes that they'll pull a Halloween h20 and just remove jp3-dominion from canon,not that I hate those movies, it's just that I'd like to see David Koepp's version of a Jurassic Park 3.

Hey Klayton, I’ve been watching your stuff for quite some time, as a fellow JP nut, but I’ve gotta say, it’s been a breath of fresh air to hear from a fellow JP nut who’s *also* a brother in Christ! 😁 if you ever want to talk some theological turkey-and perhaps its intersection with paleontology-let me know!

Klayton my brother, I really want another great JP film. However, with the way that Hollywood is today, my expectations are very low. Long story short: Everything's woke and sucks. Most of my childhood franchises have been ruined because of that. Knowing that Koepp helped to write Dial of Destiny fuels my skepticism with the new Jurassic film, but he did write the first two Jurassic films (which are my favorite) so there might be some hope left. Hopefully, Koepp hasn't succumbed to modern Hollywood thinking and will make the next Jurassic film like the first two.

Jurassic Park 7 (Jurassic World 4) must have dinosaurs terrorizing cities and threatening humans and the ecosystem. They spread a deadly disease called DX that humans get after getting bitten by dinosaurs, and it extends to other people. Our heroes (whoever they'll be) need to find a cure before humans become extinct while also killing off the dinosaurs. Plot A has some of the main characters dealing with the dinosaurs, while plot B focuses on the scientists finding a cure for DX. Michael Crichton would love to see a film like this.

I would love to see this movie. When I heard David Koepp was back on the screenwriting I shouted in excitement. I have been following your channel as the Jurassic World series unfolded. I watched all of your videos on the updates, all the book excerpts you put out and all of your various material. I have to say your thoughts on the hang gliders being attacked by the Pteranodons, the river raft scene from the first film would be my top picks for a future movie. I was really let down by the last film; I watched it twice and I thought about it and then watched it a few more times. I began to look more into the DX virus and think that could be the drive for this film in part. I also think that if they do decide to bring back Henry Wu they might do him in. I mean he did work on the destroying the bugs. I think this could be a vital thing in the movie at this point for it could set up him in the next act seeing some kind of horrific event and maybe having that moment of gross vanity. I mean Koepp is back and he did such an amazing job on the first two films. I think that we could get a really good follow up. I would like to see a more diverse realm of animals like we did get with the awesome Dimetrodon scene and maybe some other stuff. Yet, I would like to see this film becoming a darker feel like we had in some of the first Jurassic Park and the Lost World. I would like to see him write more characters maybe with the traits of Doc Thorne and maybe some of the characters not used. Bring some of the older unused novel characters that were not seen in the films. I like your idea of a planet of the apes deal that would be rather interesting. I was rather interested in the black market thing they did but to be honest that film was indeed a bit oddly paced and was kind of all over the place. Yet, they had some very interesting parts to it that made me think. I was not a total loss in my mind. I am thinking that there is more to Dominion than meets the eye. This is just my opinion. I think it would be awesome to see a tie into this film and make it a true sequel. If they do the island thing it maybe to do something with the DX virus. I would like to not see any sanctuary or island personally I would like to see it change the gear a bit to were it is not like what we have previously seen. I have followed all of what you have put out on Jurassic Park and have had some deep conversations with your topics as subject and there is a lot they could do. My friends agree that the hang gliders, the river raft would be great. I would like to see something other than the main Rex and I would like to see various raptors. Maybe a different breed; we have the Atrociraptors and maybe they could have bread with some other raptor and maybe more terrible than the main raptors. Maybe through out they could be stalking some humans and be reoccurring creature. I would like to see something like the raptors being the way they were in the first two. Don't get me wrong I love Blue and Beta but I think for the sake of argument we need to move off from the trained animals and get on to the deeper issues that could come up. This is just my two cents but this is what I think it should be. I mean I have read the books before the films dropped. I got a special two book binding and read them before the release of Fallen Kingdom and Dominion. I had to say it was kind of a fool's errand to make a few of the predictions I did. Yet, my hope it that they will eventually come true. As you stated Koepp had many scenes that were not used. Jurassic is known for recycling many of the scenes from the books and the films. Koepp did this for the beginning of The Lost World which was indeed taken from the first book so there is hope maybe a scrapped idea or two could wind up in there. Knowing his record this could be a winning formula. He was there from the beginning and I hope that he was able to get a hold of the Jurassic Park III stuff and the Jurassic World data and can bringing back from near extinction (pun intended). Yet, I agree with the idea of cautious optimism. There could be a good chance this could be pulled off. Yet, after the way the last one went it has yet to be scene.

I actually hope they do a prequel. Or a reboot. Dinosaurs free in the world doesn’t work. It’s cartoony. Part of what made the early JP films feel the way they did, was a sense of isolation. Atmosphere was what made JP and Sorna feel so good. True Lost Worlds, is part of the adventure. That’s why islands worked so well. As Ian said, taking dinosaurs off this island is the worst idea, in the long sad history of bad ideas.

I think this and many other franchises would do well to step away from legacy characters. Write something new with new characters

You're spot on about the bits left out of the two books. Especially the segment with the Buck T-Rex scent marking the vehicle was such a cool piece. Maybe this is why Koepp has been working behind the scenes on the script, and who knows, will no7 be known as part of the Koepp trilogy? Or maybe Quadology?

I think events in between the films could be a great scenario to make another movie with. How Biosyn picked up their slack after losing the embryos, for example, and how they were able to resurrect the Giga of all things. God bless!

I would love a “planet of the apes” type of Jurassic movie. Where the dinosaurs have taken over and the humans are trying to survive. Need to put the dinosaurs back as the villains no more partnering with them. They are hunting the humans and they are just trying to survive

Battle at Bog Rock was so cool and suspenseful. They could make an entire movie like that I’d be so on board!!

I'd realy like to see the 90's aesthetic back. Big boxes, thick wires, jeans with pockets and smoky scenarios. But with actually some concept and not just an overdose of nostalgia bait - as we've been seeing recently. The movie don't even have to be in the 90's, but could "feel" like it. Also, iconic scenes, realistic characters and that type of horror the first movie had... something brutal even without blood, where the characters killed felt like an actual person, not a ragdoll made to be torn apart. That only preceded and accompanied by a deep feeling of awe that is much more than just high quality CGI spilled on the screen.

We are quite frankly in an era of regression as far as cinema entertainment goes RU-vid and other platforms like that, content is a hit But most shows now and all movies are getting worse partially due to the lack of new ideas, the over and misuse of beloved franchises like J-Park and Star Wars, etc., and plain bad writing We need help people, not "new old ideas" that are going to be garbage We need help Who can save pop culture today?

Honestly I think they could makes some money from trying to make the kids from the past movies come back, it would be really cool to see them again It would be cool to see how some of them could get over their ptsd from the Dino’s I don’t know how they could get together to fight the Dino’s, maybe they just think that they can finally end the age of the dinosaurs and join a new like task force that is set on killing all Dino’s or trapping them or smt. At this point they shoud 100% pull a "Rogue One" and do an off-shoot of the original Park movies but from a different perspective. But it seems they may end up going full blown 'Rise of Skywalker" on us 😂

I think my pitch would be a prequel, the fall of isla sorna. At the start of the movie, we see how it worked before the original park collapsed, but as the disaster in nublar start to happen and they lost communication with the park, the hurricane hits sorna and causes a black out and some of the fences. The back up generators come back shortly after, but the damage is already done. Everything goes out of control, and a rag tag team of survivors tries to retake control of the installations or get out of the island.

i don't want a movie going off from something that happened in dominion. i want something new, new characters, new themes (or return to old themes)

"These creatures were here before us. And if we're not careful... they're gonna be here after." That's it. That's the plot. That's all they gotta do.

I hope this new Jurassic Park film brings the DX Virus into the franchise and ignores Dominion. I also really hope it makes the terrible elements that everyone hated from JW Dominion decanonized. So many things in that film made no sense at all.

I wanna go back to the timeline of the original 3 movies. No more Jurassic World, no dinosaurs loose all over the world. As HISHE said in their Fallen Kingdom video "Without a park, the story is lame." I want a proper fourth Jurassic Park movie that retcons the World films. But that's just me.

BRING IT ALL BACK TO THE ISLAND. The island aesthetics makes the movie, having dinosaurs in a city just aint it.

Ik, As the 1993 rex (rexy/roberta) fan boy. She needs rest, she has done her part, i am happy with rexy's ending,same with blue they need their rest after what they have been through like the indom,scropious,indoraptor,tarbo and the giga ya they have been through enough. Its time for a new rex and velo to take the spot light.

I love the nod to Ryan George with the "super easy, barely an inconvenience!" I'm hoping that they don't continue the chronology post-Dominion, especially with any JW characters. I really disliked how Trevorrow created his characters; Owen and Claire had no chemistry, Owen was almost "too perfect" of a hero, and the bad guys/sidekicks were pretty "meh." I found Vic Hoskins pretty cheesy (and a complete waste of D'Onofrio's talent); Zia and Franklin didn't really seem to have any real purpose (and also, Franklin just gets a job with the CIA without going to a 6+ month long academy, and is entrusted with all that info like a week after he tells Claire about it? The hell is that?); Delacourt and Santos didn't stick around long enough for anyone to really even remember them, etc. I think a really cool story would basically be a cinematic retelling of Jurassic Park: The Game (2011) by TellTale, or possibly a similar plot to what it looks like Jurassic Park Survival will be like. Some sort of a 1993 Isla Nublar incident adventure, involving a character that we didn't see in the 1993 film. Possibly some interactions with island creatures that were present during the film, but stayed off camera (e.g., Herrerasaurus, Metriacanthosaurus, etc?) To me, nothing matches that "Jurassic Park" feel quite like the stormy nighttime on Isla Nublar in '93. Feed me those, 'Member Berries!

I don’t know if I want a JP7, I would love movies that went back in time more.

It’s not just the writing they need to return to form, it’s the CG that needs to be toned down, use animatronics properly and settle the story down to something more heartfelt with little to no CRAZY action or subtle horror and intensity for scenes that need it. No Men on bikes riding away from or with Raptors in Malta. No Dialogue like “he slid into my DMs.” And more of scenes like Petticoat Lane, I mean that scene is so cosy and lovely with Hammond and Ellie, we haven’t seen that since the first. Koepp can write he just needs to right team, keep Trevorrow away. I enjoy the World trilogy (especially World) but I see the lack of tension, well rounded characters suspense and stellar writing every time-it’s lost what makes Jurassic so special.

I don't know how to feel about this, the Jurassic World era movies were absolutely horrible. David Koepp is awesome and a legend because the first 2 Jurassic park movies are bangers, but without Michael Crichton laying the brilliant ground work there is no guarantee Koepp can truely deliver. Only Crichton and Spielberg could show dinosaurs as actual animals just doing what they do, in a way that was compelling, fascinating, and at times terrifying. All other writers keep making them into either constantly roaring monsters hellbent on "hating" the main characters for some reason or weird, marvel wannabe super hero's/villains. And if Trevorrow directs again there is literally zero hope. It will be shit.

I question whether it will be a remake or just different step into the new prehistoric dominion. And by different I mean not following in the steps of Dominion.

Honestly if they do make another movie I think they should do one showing what happened before the original Jurassic Park film. How John Hammond got the idea and creating the park. People trying to tell him not to do it. All the accidents/kills that happened. They could end it with him having to contact Grant, Sattler & Malcolm to get them to sign off on the park. Basically end it where Jurassic Park begins.

One thing I would like to see in the new Jurassic World movie is to see the fully grown adult Dilophosaurus mixed with a bit of Horror and more aquatic creatures with some more horror elements with the pterosaurs and add the other novel dinosaurs in the next film. That is what i would like to see.

When explaining this upcoming movie to people, I'm comparing it to what the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is in relation to the Andy Serkis Apes trilogy. Same canon, past events will be reflected in the plot, but all new characters and a future forward storyline. I just want a director and title announcement at this point. If this thing is really filming this summer, we'll be getting cast/crew reveals in the immediate future.

I hope this is an R rated reboot. I want to see a trilogy or even a 4 film series using the novels as the screen play/script. That was the Jurassic Park I wanted to see in theaters when it originally released, and I'm still wanting it now.
