Silly presentation. He presented it as though all Tiger 800's don't have any of the features he mentioned as his excuses for selling it. 1. Transition bike - he should have just gotten the bike he wanted to start with! 2 &4: No cruise control or ABS - he got an old bike. He didn't say what year it was, but it was first generation 2011-2014 - and he bought it in 2021 - which is likely why it was "cheap!" If he had gotten a 2nd gen Tiger 800, he could have had cruise control and ABS! 6. Brakes: 3rd Generation 2018-20 had Brembo brakes - should have gotten that. Regarding Spoked Wheels: He could have gotten the XC model from whatever year his bike was, and then he would have had spoked wheels. All the rest is non-sense. Comfort and handlebars could have easily been replaced if they were truly an issue. And RE: "front end not stable" - LOL! He presented the bike as though all Tiger 800's are lacking, and the same model year GS he was replacing it with was superior in all these ways. In reality he was probably upgrading to a more late model GS, and since he didn't even get the right model Tiger 800 for his needs, it's not really a fair presentation of the Tiger 800. Waste of time to watch

Thanks for your truly honest video review. I like the look of the bike, the engine response but that front handling is something that I have heard of before. Thanks again.

Thanks for the great feedback. Yeah it was my major gripe. Some people say it should have been adjusted for my weight, but I never had an issue like this before on a bike. Atleast not this noticeable. Cornering was really scary.... Ride safe!

Well, I have also had this bike for 18 months here in UK and I agree that it is a great all round bike for the money. I also bought it so my wife could ride with me, although I find her weight helps with stability. I have yet to try it with full panniers. I quite fancy a GS but that is somewhat heavier and not cheap here in UK. I shall keep following you and see how you get on with yours. No pressure! I wish you luck with it! Ride Safe.

Haha. Yes I’m interested to see how the transition goes. I will still be a lifelong fan of the tiger. Glad to have you along for the journey. See you on the pavement.

I just rode one, delivering for a friend. I ride a '15 FJR 1300. I was very impressed with it. The engine is lively, it feels light and cruised 75-80mph for about 50 miles. Very capable bike, it is alittle buzzy being a 3 cylinder. All in all i like it.

Yeah it has a very unique sound and feel. It was a very smooth engine. I’d love to try the 900. Thanks for your comment! Ride safe

I wouldn’t call the GS an upgrade just because its bigger. Bigger isn’t always better though I’m European so I can understand that concept…! Haha
@AmericanAbroad1
@AmericanAbroad1 2 года назад
As you can see there are many other reasons not just engine size. Also the tech improvements that have happened over 8years is a big upgrade. If you want to hear the numerous upgrades you can watch my GS review. Maybe that will close the gap in the story for you.

@@andrewtaylor6410 sooo what do you consider an upgrade?
@AmericanAbroad1
@AmericanAbroad1 2 года назад
@@spangoz1000 very true. I like the tech for comfort reasons. I can have a comfy ride when I want for long stretches of highway or make the suspension more aggressive for twisties. Also, cornering ABS is a big safety feature. Breaking power also is way better in the GS. Of course many like a bare bones approach. I would love to try the T7 world raid if I wanted less tech.

This is the bike I am looking at after I finish my safety training courses as my first bike. I am kinda scared it's too big, but I have a drivers license for 20 years, so my thinking is that I can handle a bigger bike with caution and responsibility, and considering paying attention to trafic is second nature to me. I am also fairly high, 185cm, so I am thinking I can handle it, and grow into it in ~2 years. Personally I don't think I want to go higher than this tbh...
@AmericanAbroad1
@AmericanAbroad1 Год назад
Hahaha I started to read “I’m fairly high” I was like well don’t smoke and ride hahah. This tiger is very manageable. Maybe try riding it a bit and see how it feels. You are 5cm taller than me, but I didn’t have any issues with height.

@csakzozo
@csakzozo Год назад
@@AmericanAbroad1 Yeah, I hate being high in general, so definitely no smoking and riding for me 😂 Here in Europe we are required to do the driving course, so I will have some experience before I sit on my bike, but this seemed a bit heavy, but ofc I have no idea what I need to do with that weight, and if I ever need to oppose it in any way(hopefully not). Seems like a great bike, not sure what I could ask about it, I just want a good one at a decent price(used ofc). I have patience, I know now is not the best time of the year to buy a bike, everyone is buying now...

@@csakzozo Yeah, its definately an under rated bike. Normally you can get it very cheap also. I have a review I did for the bike on here also. If you can get a bit of a newer model I would. This particuler one was the very first ideration and they always refine best after the first. I loved it becasue it was easy to move aorund the garage even being off the bike. Also when your sitiing on the bike it feels very light. I had teh comfort seat in its lowest setting. I like to sit down ina bike and not on top of it. If you can spring for a Tiger after 2013 would be good. www.autoscout24.com/offers/triumph-tiger-800-xrt-gasoline-white-c9fd86c7-cfa7-40ed-9c4c-c2c2644e47ee?sort=standard&desc=0&lastSeenGuidPresent=false&cldtidx=1&position=1&search_id=21v8gtysirr&source_otp=t30&source=listpage_search-results&order_bucket=unknown Above is an example.

Looking at the country side and I'm thinking to myself, that looks familiar. Then you said "Bom Dia". Ah.... Portugal. Been there many times. Absolutely beautiful country. Even the highways are gorgeous. As for the Tiger, we all have our reasons. I'm going the other way. Getting rid of my BMW and buying the Tiger 800 XCa which has cruise and heated seat and grips. But the GS is a solid choice as well. incidentally, if you look at the stone pavers your bike is sitting on, that is most likely 2000 year old Roman road material.

@@AmericanAbroad1 They look like motorcycles. Even the old, air-cooled Tigers looked like a motorcycle. These new Tigers and other motorcycles from other manufacturers don't look like motorcycles Husqvarna for one. The older ones with the silver frames and red gas tanks, aluminum fenders were beautiful. I wish that their designers and engineers would improve. The pre-2020 Tigers sound good though. They sound like my H-1 Kawasaki but in 4 stroke. As is often shouted in unison upon the streets of Kyoto, Japan: " Hey! " RU-vid video: 2017.3.26京都橘高校吹奏楽部京都さくらパレード交款コンサートパーカッション

Great reasons, all. I’m happy for you and hope the next adventure is even better! ... I just bought this bike in the 2016 model year 800 XR with factory cruise control. Will add heated grips. I am coming from a larger bike, a Yamaha super Tenere 1200. In my opinion, as fun it is to have the bigger bike and feel more planted with lower-down weight, the overall weight is substantial, agility decreases, and the number of times of carrying a pilion is very few. That was a deal breaker for me. I decided not to stick with it and preferred the smaller engine displacement of a midsize adventuring machine like the tiger. The GS of course is amazing, but cost of ownership is a concern, secondary market prices tend toward unrealistic. I hope you get a great deal on one, and ride the heck out of it, and form your own conclusions. Of course, having a 1200 AND an 800 would be the best of both worlds! Good to have goals, right?
@AmericanAbroad1
@AmericanAbroad1 2 года назад
Totally agree. I absolutely loved the time I spent on the Tenere 1200es. It’s like a budget GS that’s got better reliability. I believe if I have a newer Tiger I may not make the change at all. The trips I have done on the GS have just sold me on power and comfort. Also, the maneuverability, but I haven’t “lived” with one before. So let’s see. If I jump ship from a BMW it would be back to Triumph for sure. Thanks for ur comment. I always enjoy peoples perspectives. Stay in touch

Why these bikes don’t hold their value?
@AmericanAbroad1
@AmericanAbroad1 Год назад
Probably a few factors; 1. Triumph was a huge brand back in the day with scrambler style bikes, but notorious for having issues. 2. British made. Land Rover is British made and also notorious for having mechanical issues. But triumph has come a long way from its former glory and I believe they made phenomenal bikes.
