You and I have alot in common. I wanted another John Deere tractor as well, when I went tractor shopping. And just like you, I got sticker shock. And I WANTED another John Deere. But just as yourself , I came to the conclusion that for me, I just wasnt gonna spend that kind of money. And just like you, to get what I wanted,.it was going to be in a bigger frame size than I needed , and then a bunch of add ons after the initial purchase. Spot on with the video. Take care, and be safe.

The competition is what is needed to get some of this pricing under control. But the quality is also suffering allot. Thank you and thanks for watching. We appreciate it.

I couldn’t agree more with you about the quality of John Deere E series… my daddy has two 100 horse Deere E series and while they are good tractors I’m just disappointed every time I get in the cab. I can’t get him to see it. He bleeds green. And I admit I do to but I’ve definitely started to realize in this size tractor there’s better out there. He bought his pre-pandemic so the prices weren’t near as bad but my goodness John Deere and kubota have just gone out of sight as far as pricing!

I agree. It is disappointing to see the quality drop in a lot of things. I don’t know what the 100 hp E tractor would cost but for the price of these tractors you should expect MORE. Deere and Kubota are good tractors but I feel they are taking advantage of many people. Thanks for watching.

I've got a 5085E and I bleed green, I do agree with your points. A few years ago, Deere was the king, I remember getting a quote for a premium cab 5075E with a loader for 59k. But they really increased pricing, and since then LS and Kioti caught up really fast. I found myself in a kioti dealer buying a implement they had, and I looked at the tractors, I've gotta say, its really compelling for someone who's getting a new tractor, they are built good, they're missing a few options but they're like 30% cheaper than comparable Deere. My biggest thing was the dealer support, but my local dealer is great and I can actually get the tractor service. I'm definitely gonna be watching Kioti and where they go, so many have been popping up where I am, its nice to see some companies give Deere a run for its money.

First thanks for watching and for your comment. Deere makes a good tractor for sure. This is the first time I have ever bought a New tractor. I have had used ones and normally older units. So you can imagine my sticker shock. That is when I started to dig deep into a lot of other brands and options. Kioti is definitely nice Check out the HX series NICE tractor but over 100hp. For me I did not want or need anything over 75hp ( also the cut off before DEF is required). That is when LS MT 573 caught my eye. Thanks again

Thanks for telling it like it is. I remember when Kubota came to America. They took sales away from JD based on price & standard features. Quality? Yep, “orange” had that too. Of course now that Kubota has broken into the market & is in demand, their prices have crept up to almost the same as JD. For the average person, these prices are unaffordable. Too many other bills to pay. Now the various brands, many made in South Korea, but assembled by your neighbors here in America, are taking sales away from both green & orange. Why? You found out: price & standard features. Folks who are buying South Korean tractors because they’re the best they can afford are discovering that their quality is good, their warranties are good (or better) and the dealers are interested in a long-term relationship after the sale. You can’t afford to compete w/ JD by selling junk & not standing behind your machines. Competition is good for us. Let’s see how it works out for companies that continue to overprice & underdeliver on standard features. My job is to be loyal to my family’s $$. Not a brand.

Thanks for your comment. Sounds like you don’t mind saying it like it is as well👍. I also remember Kubota and people saying you don’t want to buy that tractor because it was not made in the US. If we like it or not we are a VERY global world now. I just don’t think that anything we buy that is mechanical especially with electronics involved is made exclusively in the United States. Parts come from all over the world now. And I really think people would be surprised at how much of our American made products are not made in America. Don’t get me wrong. I am for buying American made but sometimes you just can’t. Many of these South Korean Tractors have a very good reputation in their country and a growing positive reputation here in the United States. I believe they are giving these other brands a real run for their money. Not everyone can afford to make a house payment on a tractor. That had a major influence on me choosing the LS over these other brands and So far the LS has been a great tractor. Thanks again

I have a LS XR3140HC. Paid right at $30,000 in 2020. The comparable Kubota was $42,500 and John Deere was $46,500. All while the LS had better specs and more standard features. My dealer is awesome as well. I wanted a cab and the only way I could afford one was stay away from the green and orange. At the time I considered it a little gamble to get the LS but it has been great! Deere and kubota are seeing their market share get just a little less each year. My frien has a Kioti and it has been great as well, with slightly better fit and finish than my LS I think. He also could not afford the other big 2. Great video sir.

I don't know which JD Dealer you were working with but I traded in a 2016 OC 5075E with 200 hrs, against a 2024 JD 5075E with Premium Cab, 3 remotes, 2 in the back and 1 in the front. The dealer gave me more for my trade against a substantially lower price than you were quoted. Coupled with 0% financing and I couldnt go wrong. Every deal and every dealer is different though and the LS sounds like a great tractor but where I live the closest LS dealer is an hour and a half away. I'm 10 minutes from my JD dealer. That was the difference for me. If you get good support and service from your LS, it will be a winner.

@@3DFarmingLife Thanks for the reply, my local dealer does not have any of these in stock so i rely on your videos. I will have to order the MT 774 blind. Do you have a video comparison or picture comparison of the MT 573 VS MT 774? I really think the cost difference between the 2 tractors is a no brainer to step up to the larger frame. What are your thoughts on the R14 tires vs the standard R1? Thanks again for all your assistance!! Keep up the good work.

Well you bet me on those two videos.😂 Very much planning on both of these video. The tire video is already in process. But is not finished. The R 14 are a great tire. It is like the best of both worlds between R1 and 4 As far as the MT 573 v 774. This is a tough one. Truly depends on your needs. The heavier loader on the 774 is a HUGE plus. Also the High low on the shifter. You lose a SCV remote BUT that can be added. Just my 2 cents. Thanks again

Good, valid points. I own the Kioti RX 7320 cab, and commented on your video on the comparison video that you did on that vs. the LS as well. I could also appreciate the comparison you did on that one. I'm not the guy that will claim just because I own something that it's "the best". I'll listen to all valid points, just like you've given here. Good video.

Thanks I truly appreciate it. I definitely like Kioti. I ran into the owner of one of our Kioti dealerships yesterday ( really good guy ). We had a chance to talk for awhile. He knows I bought a LS. I would say that if Kioti set up the RX more like they have with there HX (maybe not exactly) they would make a huge impact in the 75 hp utility tractor world. Just my opinion. Thank you for watching and for your comments.

I know this is a older post! I think your info is great! I to purchase the Ls Mt5 73 . I went through months of tractor shopping i looked at jd, Kubota, new Holland, case, Ls and a few others. I was pretty specific with wanting a tractor in 70hp range with a cab. No matter what i always kept coming back to the Ls tractor. My dealer was not shy about say climb in the cab run the tractor. That was huge for me! I work field service for a large log equipment company not gonna give out the name. So mechanics is my everyday job.I also have a shop at home where i do tons of tractor work so i get the opportunity to run alot of different brands. A few month before my purchase i work on a Kubota M7060 and jd 75e both were good tractors but when i got in the Lsmt5 73 it was a completely different machine!!! There was a power difference the Ls was loaded with power the other two just simply didn't have . The hydraulic were smother it was like a Cadillac compared to Kubota or jd. Now look i know the Mafia is gonna go nuts but the truth is the truth! For me a small time farmer that tends to small 40 acres farm and a few large hunting leases i couldn't see any good form spending all my money on less for a color everyone approved of!!

I truly understand I don’t even know how long I researched, looked,drove and compared brands, specs and prices. Not counting that many of the dealers did not have much inventory. I have noticed that the power of this tractor is very noticeable. The cab layout is great except the loader joystick ( At least for me). I like most everything about my 573. I bought mine at the end of 2023 and we are only at 120hrs but we are about to put out the 100hr review soon. I like most brands of tractors but just can’t afford to buy the paint. Thanks for your comment and for watching. Keep us informed on your experience with your 573.

I love that their is competition to keep Deere trying. But it’s the service from the many local dealers around me that makes John Deere my choice. Another aspect is the 30 year cost of ownership. I’ve always purchased low hour, good used John Deere equipment. But even if I did buy new, they go up in value, not down on a long term basis. Other brands do also, but no name brands that don’t exist anymore, do go to zero.

@3DFarmingLife
@3DFarmingLife 6 месяцев назад
I got my pricing from John Deere. Not all dealers are the same sometimes but it also depends on the options. Also I did not proceed with any more negotiation once I started seeing the numbers climbing. I could not see the numbers going down enough to make it worth my while anymore. In order for me to get the numbers down enough to consider buying the Deere I would need to go to an open station and maybe a smaller tractor. I had the Deere priced as premium cab/w loader and a few options. That pushed the cost up. I don’t know if the price you have is good or bad I did not price out a 100hp. In My case and budget just couldn’t justify the cost. I hope your experience is better and your pricing is much better. I would not wish anything less.

Very good and detailed comparison between the ls and Deere. I personally would have went for a used tractor. For example, I'm looking at a 2020 m4 Kubota. Same horsepower, similar specification for 55000 with only 280 hours. I'm sure the ls is a great tractor but it's depreciation is enough to turn me off them.

I looked at the M4D but none where on the lots in our area at the time. Nice tractors. That tractor new was was around 72-76k, depending on options. Sounds like you are looking at a nice unit and I hope it works out good for you. Thanks for watching and your comments

I cannot speak for your specific size and specification but the competition in the US Tractor market right now is absolutely crazy high between Kubota, Massey Ferguson, Case IH, Kioti I'm sure I'm missing a dozen others. Trying to get into such a market is really hard right now but yes, one way to do this is by offering up an actual value proposition instead of the Space Shuttle Atlantis everytime someone wanting to get in the business of row cropping or brush control or ahem *"rock farming"* or snow removal which is of late where most are now using these really expensive machines. Is Allis Chalmers even around anymore? Anyhow interresting product good for them you're given them a review. The sudden emegence of pure BEV equipment has forced the entire Industry excepting the US car vehicle Industry to either adapt or become the next Allis Chalmers or David Brown. And that's really good news as the parts from the parts bin are now actually available for the first time probably for the first time since the Korean War. This Industry understands that a pure BEV truck or Class 8 semi is taking dead aim at the diesel power market and not a gasoline powered performance machine. I'm not sure how big pure BEV can get but if you can reliably power a Class 8 that's more than enough to power a full size Tractor or piece of construction equipmemt. For something specific this has created an absolute *BOOM* in small formfactor diesel engine units like for a Kubota side by side as they knkw Tesla can build at will a full sive ATV and in massive numbers anytime they want now and we all know how valuable...and overpriced...that market. I've seen Polaris side by sides go for $50,000 us dollars if you want to talk crazy. People buy em though "gotta have em!" no idea why.
@3DFarmingLife
@3DFarmingLife 7 месяцев назад
A lot to unpack here. The tractor market is crazy but really not much different than the automobile market except everyone drives a car, not everyone needs a tractor. I don’t know what the tractor market will look like 10-20 years from now. It is more specialized. The BEV is something that is being pushed but has been around for a while especially in some industry and warehousing. (Electric Forklifts, maintenance carts, and some styles of towing equipment and much more). I don’t know if the electric tractor market will go for the big farmers. Pulling a heavy plow all day trying to beat the rain or whatever. He does not have time to stop and charge a tractor for 8 hours nor has the money to have several tractors or Batteries and equipment to change those batteries. We want even get into the power requirements that are required to charge these batteries. Nor the actual process of building batteries, storage, maintenance, voltage regulators, computer management systems nor the amount of heat that comes from 1 bad connection, and the cost of repairs. I do like my LS so far, I do have some concerns mostly of the unknowns, but LS has been in the tractor market for over 40 years and have been growing. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

Where does extra weight in JD come from if all the steel is thinner?
@3DFarmingLife
@3DFarmingLife 6 месяцев назад
I appreciate the response but I only pointed out a Couple of things on the tractor that were lighter gage. Not the whole tractor. I said NOTHING about any other part of the tractor. The weight difference is not that much to start with. Also I used the shipping weight for Deere from their site to get my number. That May have given Deere an advantage because it was the heavier weight that I could find. Other places said that it a little over 5700lbs. I also have found different numbers in cost and other things because options drive the cost as well. So it was overall not what I was going to pay. So that is why I did not choose Deere. I did not go into negotiations or anything farther after this because it was not going to be in a budget I could afford. It is also very important to note that I only talked about the 5075E and NO other model. I never said that John Deere was bad but I did point out what IMO were deal breakers for that kinda of money. I felt the Deere was a company with a reputation of quality that was better than this.

I'm going to go ahead and apologize for the length of this comment before I even start writing it. I'm sorry. Growing up in the Columbia Basin in Central WA everyone was a farmer, or worked for the ag industry. Everyone was a "farm kid." and you either owned John Deere or you didn't. Our small town had 2 dealerships, one New Holland, and the other was JD. The New Holland had tractors, but I'm fairly certain they never sold any. People went to the NH dealership for bailer parts. Needless to say, the Columbia Basin in the 80's and 90's was dominated by John Deere, and my family was no exception. However, I can count on one hand how many times we went to the local JD dealership for parts. Purchasing a new tractor was unheard of since we were not about financing anything, our current tractors were "good enough," and if it broke, we fixed the part. Mix that with the fact that JD tractors were pretty much bullet proof back then, there was simply no real need to go into the dealership. I'll come back to this dealership in a bit. Just wanted to set the tone. When I left the farm, the farm dissolved. My father had passed away years ago. My grandpa was the main farmer, and it was him and I working the farm together for as long as I could remember. I left the farm for the Marines, and while enlisted, my grandpa passed away. By that time we had leased the land and had sold much of the equipment. The farm was passed on to me, and I simply kept the contracts with tenant farmers, some of whom are family members: cousins, uncles, friends, etc. Shortly after my enlistment, I went to work for a JD dealership as a mechanic. It was a love/hate relationship. I loved working on tractors (and still do!) but didn't care for my particular dealership. Nothing against JD, but rather the people at the dealership I worked at, we simply didn't along. But I did use my employment to experience the different tractors, quality, and features that JD had to offer. But because of that dealership (this is not the one from my hometown) I decided to leave and find employment elsewhere. Then I met my wife, and in figuring out what our future might look like, she made it very clear that she would not be a poor farmers wife living in Central WA. We decided to put down roots out in the country near a larger city. And I needed a tractor. Having the experience from my childhood and working for John Deere, there was no question as to what color my new tractor would be. I saved up about $30k (again, don't believe in financing) and went to the large city John Deere dealership. I found out quickly that my $30k wouldn't get me much. Working with a salesman, who was very competent and knowledgeable, helped me decide what John Deere tractor was right for me. I honestly don't remember which one, but I do remember the base price was just north of $40k, and then the extras, options, features, and a few basic implements were tagged on. We were up to well over $50k when I pretty much stopped paying attention. This was also back in 2016-17, before the nonsense. I was flabbergasted by how little these tractors came with. Everything was optional and not included. I complained about my experience to a friend, who let me use his little Mahindra tractor from time to time. My friend said that I should start shopping other brands. "Take a look at Mahindra, its made in India and has been a great little tractor for me. Only cost $15k!" His little 20hp Mahindra was cute, no frills, 4 wheel drive tractor. I know I'm going to need something bigger, but ok, lets go look at Mahindra. So my friend took me to the same dealership where he purchased his tractor. Only problem was this small "mom 'n pop" dealership stopped selling Mahindra and picked up a new tractor brand called LS. The salesman showed me his lineup, and I noticed that pretty much EVERYTHING was included in the price. But I can't just buy today, no no no, that's not my style. I'm the type of person that if I don't know what I'm looking at, have never heard of that brand, I'm going to pour a TON of research into it, especially if its something expensive. So, I took this LS Tractor info and started looking at other brands too. New Holland, Mahindra (at a new dealership), Kubota, Koiti, and back to JD. This dang LS kept beating them all. After doing a few months of shopping around, reading websites, watching RU-vid, I discovered a few things. The first was there was very little information for the tractor I was leaning towards: The LS XR40xx. What little there was, was mostly negative (break downs, failures, dealership issues, etc) The John Deere Mafia is real, and real proud of the color green, LS makes tractors for New Holland, and this new emissions garbage sucks! A regeneration every 5 hours! But, I'm in serious need of a tractor. Back to the LS dealership. I sat down with the same salesman as before and laid out what I wanted. He tried, bless him, he tried, and tried to sell me a smaller (less expensive) tractor on his lot, but I wasn't having it. I wanted that XR40 model. Its the right size, and from what I can tell, the right price. I was sold on the XR40 without a cab. The salesman started talking about the new XR41 series, with a better engine that has more time between regen cycles. He wrote up 3 deals, the XR40xx, the XR4145 without a cab, and one with a cab. This new 41 with a cab is intriguing! The price difference is not that much. If I choose the XR4145C (cab) I get all these "extra" features, plus 2 implements (a box blade and 6ft Woods tiller) right at the top of my budget. I had to dip into a bit more of my savings to make it work, but it was right about $35k. I'm sold, write it up. And a few weeks later, it was all delivered. I decided the moment it arrived to make a RU-vid video about it, since it was a newer model, and there was NOTHING on RU-vid about it. I wanted to share it. My channel was around, but nothing about tractors, so I reinvented my RU-vid channel featuring the LS tractor. My family caught wind of my channel, the ones back home on the farm, the ones who belong to the John Deere Mafia and bleed green, the ones I haven't heard from in a few years, they contacted me to tell me how much of a mistake it was buying something other than John Deere. I heard every argument there was: not made in America. Uses cheap Chinese steel. No dealer support. I need to add soy sauce to the fuel. Good luck with warranty issues. It wont last. Its not GREEN! I don't typically like to argue, especially with family and especially with objects they will likely never use, but I did anyway. Not made in America, like most things, but some are and likely this one is assembled in America. The steel is thick and strong where it counts. I don't know where its smelted, but if it holds up to my abuse, I don't care. The dealership in town is growing and expanding. If they go under, there is another one the next town over. Stop being silly about the soy sauce. Besides, I love Asian cuisine! We will see about the warranty, and yes, Its blue, not green. A common argument the color brand mobsters argue about is always the dealership network. And for the most part, they are correct. But honestly, its their only argument at this point. And it seems to get weaker every year, as corporations like LS continue to grow in the US. The small town John Deere dealership in my small hometown closed its doors a few years ago. They moved to a different, larger city about 45 minutes away. Doesn't really matter anyway since those green tractors are so bullet proof, why would they need that support? I know the reason, obviously, but if they were doing so well in that small farming community, why did they move? Driving though Central WA now, you will see mostly JD tractors, they are still king. But you will see blue, red, orange, and even white tractors. I'm not sure where the nearest Lamborghini dealership is, but if dealership support is so important to the color brand mobsters, then you'd think they would have dealerships close by, not moving away. The warranty. I had a few issues with my LS that were fixed under warranty no problem. One issue that I had, that was covered under warranty, I did the work myself! The dealership would have come out to fix it themselves, but were too busy to get to me in a timely manor. They sent the parts and I did the work, all covered. I think that's pretty good support right there. In all, I am very happy with my choice. John Deere does make really good tractors! So does many other brands. As I always say: do your research and purchase what you can afford that will work for you. Don't make a major decision without doing your homework and keeping an open mind. I make LS tractor videos showing off the tractor. Its an okay channel, but my most viewed videos are those of breakdowns. I try not to focus on the negative as so many other content creators do, but rather highlight the positives. Looks like that's what you're doing too. Keep the great work! And again, sorry for the long comment.

All good Allot to absorb. Thanks for the comment and for the compliment it is MUCH appreciated. I have taken some flack but like you said there is a lot of people who have it all figured out and stay inside a little box. One thing I have not done is call out any brand as junk or a glorified lawn mower or anything to run a brand down. I have shown facts and reasons that helped me make up my mind and pull the trigger on a LS. I did a tremendous amount of research. (Some of That is coming I hope soon.) BUT i have been told all those bad things and more about LS. You kinda just shake your head. I will not say all but I believe many are just saying things that they have heard through the grapevine. The funny thing that I am finding out is if you mention any of these tractors that are made in South Korea you get allot of negative comments. What I see is they are working hard to establish themselves while two other colors are already established now and they feel they will just skate along and people will buy from them without question or research. While that is going on these other companies have the opportunity to sneak in the back door. MY LS so far has been great. I look forward to putting out more on it soon. They are not a off brand or a Cheap in quality tractor. I appreciate you watching and commenting I also appreciate your channel and you content. Now I just need more time to work my tractor. John Deere is an international company. They have factories all over the world. They build equipment in the United States, Germany, India, Mexico, China, Brazil, Australia, etc. They build specific tractors where the demand for that size tractor is the greatest and then ship the tractors to other markets. As an example, the 6 series tractors (6MC, 6RC, 6M, 6R) are made in Mannheim, Germany. Sugar cane harvesters are made in Brazil, and rice harvesters are made in China. You can't fault the manufacturer for having factories in other countries.
@3DFarmingLife
@3DFarmingLife 8 месяцев назад
Thanks for your comment. I never faulted them for that, many good tractor brands are made globally. The issue is that I have been told MANY times to buy something only made in America. I do try but today’s market is very global. With that said it was only to say that the tractor is not made in America but assembled in America like many other tractors and equipment. The old saying is that John Deere is made in America. I have heard this for years. If I was going to use that as a fault against John Deere then I would have NEVER bought a Korean made tractor. So it was not a fault but pointing out that it and many other brands are NOT exclusively made in America. Sorry you took that as a fault. Just pointing out a fact and maybe stopping the argument before it happened Look I appreciate your comment and it is true. But again it was pointing out facts to try to avoid the “You are not buying American made tractor.”

Pretty much all modern JD's sold in the U.S. at minimum are put together in the U.S. A 5E and many others are assembled at a huge JD factory in Augusta (Grovetown) GA that employees 1,000's of Americans. Most of your machined components are made in India, but many of the electrical components are labeled "made in U.S.A." Plus you're JD's whose metal components are cast, stamped, and machined in India aren't done by some outside manufacturer who JD contracts to make tractors for them. (like some MF are made by TAFE, or some Ford/NH/CIH is made by LS, or Shibaura, or TYM makes tractors for this other brand, etc) The Indian plant that build JD's is a JD owned and controlled plant. They aren't TAFE tractors. JD makes all their own tractors, even if they use Yanmar engines in all their compact tractors, or Cat or Cummins or Detroit or whatever in some of their large equipment. Name a more American tractor in this class than a JD. Mahindra is probably the closest. Name a tractor company who employs more Americans than JD, or even close to how many that JD employs.
@3DFarmingLife
@3DFarmingLife 7 месяцев назад
@@JROC734 I understand your information and appreciate your comment. I did say that there is NO arguing that they are assembled in the USA and that they are an American company. I hope I made that clear. I also agree with you on many of your points so like I have said I think John Deere make a good tractor and have for many years. I was not comparing any other tractor that John Deere makes only the 5075E. This was my opinion and first impression of that tractor. The biggest problem with shopping for a tractor or any machinery is that you only have a few minutes to look at and test drive something that you may use and own for many years. Also budget plays a huge row in the purchase as well. The cost of the tractor helped drive me away. Also if I could have bought a JD it would have been the 5075m and not the E. I can have a JD mechanic with parts on my farm next day in most cases. Can LS do that? Nope!! I’m looking at another cab tractor. I’m looking at a MF 4707 or another JD 5075E. Both are under 75k. Dealer support and dealer network are the main reasons you go with JD or MF.

First, thank you for your comment. I know it’s hard to believe, but that is the price that John Deere gave me. Your reaction in your comment was basically my reaction when I got the price tag. I did not try to negotiate the price. It was already just too high. I couldn’t see how I can negotiate the price down that far. I like the Massey Ferguson 4707. I did look at them VERY hard. I had a price on paper for $76,000. I don’t know if it’s just our area or what. I do think John Deere makes an excellent tractor. I also think Massey Ferguson makes an excellent tractor. I can not speak for their service I am sure it is good. I have had extremely good service with our LS dealer here and would recommend them to anyone. You talk about the thinner steel on the JD, but it weighs more than the LS. Do you know why the JD weighs more than the LS? Maybe they are using thicker steel where it actually matters. If the steps on the JD are thinner but are still engineered correctly and stand up properly, what difference does it make. Again, I would like to know where the extra steel is used on the JD that ends up making it weigh more. They also weigh more than the comparable Kubota. I am not sure why though either.
@3DFarmingLife
@3DFarmingLife 5 месяцев назад
Sorry for the long response I am not going to try to say where JD makes up the weight difference because I don’t know. I will say that the weight of the JD was based on Shipping weight and not actual weight of the Tractor. I was VERY cautious saying anything else about it because JD did not provide any other information ( that I could find) on the weight of the JD 5075E so I went with the shipping weight. As far as steps and other items on the JD those were things that jumped out at me right away. If you look at their 6 series they are much heavier built. My comparison was only based on the 5E series. The 5M is better built in my opinion. I never said JD was a BAD tractor. I just couldn’t afford that price. We are a small farm and needed around 75 hp. To try to set the record straight JD has a reputation of quality and there is no denying that. I was just not impressed with the 5E series. LS will have a lot to live up to in order to earn the respect that JD has. So far my 73 Hp LS tractor is doing great. Thanks for your comment and I respect your opinion.

@@3DFarmingLife I am looking at the 6130M. I am comparing that to the Kubota M6-131. The JD is still heavier but as you said, I am a bit unsure about comparing the weights because they might not be comparing apples to apples with respect to certain options or other things. I think you would have to put them on a scale to be sure. The JD seems very expensive though. Their MSRP is also bogus. The MSRP number is crazy high and it comes down like 30k as soon as you start questioning it or say that you are paying cash. The price of the Kubota is listed online which is nice and it seems more accurate.

I can’t just run out and buy the “biggest and best tractor there is” especially just based on color There are several factors come into play. Affordability, functionality, reliability, and service ability. For the small guy that just has a little bit of land and just trying to maintain that land and the lifestyle some of these Tractors are just out of his price range. There are allot of those out there that think that you should ONLY buy from 2 brands. Well IMO that is not true all these brands are global now pieces and parts come from everywhere. I actually believe that TYM,LS, Kioti and many more including yanmar ( not in my area that I know of) are starting to cut into the tractor business. I think many people are missing the point that the competition is needed otherwise these companies will and are changing astronomical prices. But people will just go down and buy them because that is what you do. I don’t know what the future holds for any of these brands including LS but I do see a company that is growing and trying to lay its roots down just like many other companies have done in the past. Example a few years ago you would have gotten the same criticism for buying a Kubota. Look at them now GREAT tractor ( I own one ) BUT when shopping I saw allot of buy from us because we are Kubota. When it comes to a choice between this and an E Series, sadly, there was no good option. I understand how disappointed you are with the LS, but I can't say the 'Deere would have done much better. Old 'Deere's are nice. Newer ones, not so much. Speaking of "no good option", though... The older a piece of used equipment gets, the more entropy starts to kick in. Things tend to fail slowly, and then all at once. I'll spare you the fanboy schtick, but New Holland and Versatile, warts and all, are starting to look better and better, eh? May be "value" brands, and light on features, but they're easy to fix when they inevitably break down. Parts are cheaper than their competitors, too. Nothing out there these days is built to last, so it's down to finding the one that will disappoint you the least.

I get what your saying and can appreciate the fact that older equipment quality is better. Although they do come with their own set of challenges,lots of hours and a lot of worn out parts. It gets to the point that rebuilding them can be challenging as well and become very costly. However you are right about the true attention to quality of the older machines as well as the simplicity of the machines. I hope that the comments that I have made about the plastics are not taken wrong. It is far from the most important part of the function of the tractor but I am paying a LOT of money for a tractor and I don’t won’t the cab, that I spend many hours in, falling apart. The levers, buttons and controls need to function and function well for Hopefully many years. The older cabs had a lot of steel in them even the controls and lever many times used heavier plastic or steel. A lot of the newer tractors have a much more automotive feel to them now, as well as a Lot of electronics and computers that all need to work for the tractor to function. That is all I am saying and if the outside quality is not there, then I begin to wonder about what is under everything that I can not see. I am not just looking for lipstick on a pig. No disrespect to old iron, but these new tractors are light years ahead. My tractor is whisper quiet in the cab, the engine is smooth and quiet, the hydraulics are fantastic, it is built tough and is exponentially more efficient than the "old iron" that you speak of. The plastic that you are talking about, I don't know what you are talking about, or who told you they were plastic. My tractor is all heavy steel. Yes, the control knobs, steering wheel, and cab liner inside are plastic (like every other tractor on earth) but as far as the business end, it's all heavy steel. Good luck doing the tasks I do in the woods on an old 100hp row crop machine.
