Trucking can definitely be a blessing. My husband 404 Trucker was in trucking for almost 15 years and used that experience to land a federal career that still deals with trucking in a certain capacity. Yall be safe on those roads!!!!
Actually 15 years total with KK. 10yrs as a driver and 5yrs in management. I was able to purchase my first home at 26yrs old working for KK. I learned a lot over those years and overall it was a good experience.
I will be going back to a 9-5 but in tech. It's just not enough time for me to do what I need to do and what I like to do. I gotta be home in order for things to get done cause it's just me.
I actually went through the grant while I was working as a forklift operator at a warehouse. They’re picky about who they select and it’s not giving to a lot of people. It helps to have job stability as well as something good on your resume. I have an associate degree so that helped. Life ain’t the same after trucking. The financial freedom is great as well as the opportunity. God is good 🙏
Getting my AZ license (essentially CDL here in Canada) was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Looking back, I wish I had got it sooner considering how little time investment is required for how much return on investment it is. It cost me around $10k to get it (because I chose to learn manual as well) but I was able to get an education grant like you said and got a $2k refund at tax time so I only came $8k out of pocket.
Got my CDL Feb 15th through the company i work for now dot foods transportation. I just got my hazmat and tanker endorsements also. My plan is to get all of my endorsements. i encourage anyone to get your CDL if you want to quickly change your life around for the better.
TB says this all the time ain't nobody really walking away from trucking. Especially if you can find that sweet gig that fits. Trucking brings a sense of freedom.
Wow your story hits home Was a retail manager for att for 8 years, got laid off. I was lost during that time, but i was doing research and having your cdl you’re always guaranteed a job 1 month into trucking and it’s the best decision i have ever made. Little bit out of my comfort zone, but i’m so glad it all worked out.
Trucking is not a bad career choice. It has its politics within the industry it is better than a 9 to 5 .The Trucking industry has different areas find out what works best for you the individual and go from there goals ,dreams and future plans.
Keep up the great work, bro I love trucking and what is done for me and my family. I graduated college eight years ago and I wouldn’t change getting my CDL for nothing..
It sounds like you went the same route I did basically, I got my CDL through Pepsi as a CDL trainee. I have been in transportation management before and I agree with you the autonomy and flexibility is the best part about being a driver, I am comfortable with my job right now but maybe down the road when I finish my degree I may go back into managing drivers again, great content as always bro! 💪
Hi Anthony. I don’t know if you would read this or not but I need some guidance. I was a lead driver at a food company I had one accident and it caused me my job. I was on salary making good money. Anyways I have this new job completely different from food service. It’s a construction trucking job. I get payed 23an hour plus overtime but I really don’t like this job and I’m driving a class b Truck. It’s not the pay that I complain it’s more about the job. I love moving boxes and working hard. In this job I just sit in the truck all day. I really don’t like the new job I have. The only reason why I haven’t gone back to the food service game is because I’m worried I may get into another accident. I have an interview with Sysco on the 22nd of July. I’m pretty sure I’m not gonna have a set route which makes more likely to get into an accident. What should I do? Thank you!!!
Thanks for positive videos like this. I have my test on July 30 and a lot of negative people are saying that being a truck driver doesn't worth it and that I chose the wrong career. But then I watch your videos and it gives me hope. 💯💯
Yeah bro, there’s always going to be people who may have a different opinion or outlook on things but I wouldn’t let that deter you from pursuing something that you really want to do. My experience in trucking overall has been pretty good. I’m sure there are others who have the same sentiment. Good luck my guy 💪🏾
Not asking what exactly you make. But does someone like yourself with 6 years of experience make well over the $100k mark, when it seems a newbie can get to the century mark with food service? And do you see drivers leave food service due to injury? I've thought about food service, just not sure if my body can handle it. I grew up an athlete, and spent time in the Army doing some physical stuff. I still get out and play sports with my boys. But I turn 45 tmrw (June 27th) and know I have a partial tear in my rotator cuff. Just thinking out loud. I enjoy your videos.
If you’re concerned about hard labor with food service, look into getting your foot in the door in fuel hauling. I earn over 100k a year local fuel hauling in Texas and it’s not labor intensive at all. I still enjoy it.
@foshobmx I do have my X endorsement, TWIC and previous tanker experience. Just have some job hopping that has put me in a corner to some extent. Some of the hopping was necessary, and some wasn't. I'm in Plano, TX btw...
Great video . Just one question ❓ work trucking be a good carriage for a 62 year old to star I'll be retiring next year and always wanted to get my CDL anyone at my age checking this video out with similar goals?
I would get one of the part time or 40hrs or less trucking jobs if I was retiring. unless you're up for the crazy road hours pushing 60 to 70 hrs day or night, sacrificing sleep and lifestyle.
The problem that I’m facing right now is that I want to get my CDL and work with Gordon because I’m currently employed there, but they don’t do the CDL reimbursement nor offer training, so I would have to resign in order to go to school and wait six months in order to reapply. It’s not really a problem per se, I just don’t want to lose a job that I’ve tried so hard to get.
Trucking has been alright to me, coming from bus driving where driving was a bit easier and i had nice perks but trucking has been alright and hoping i can get into the 6 figure world from it soon
A few of my favorite podcasts are Diary of a CEO, Erica Taught Me, Jay Shetty, & Lewis Howes. Some of my favorite motivational speakers are Jim Rohn, Les Brown, Gary Vee, Earl Nightingale, Zig Ziglar, Eric Thomas, & Tony Robbins.
Mclane does still have Walmart accounts. ( depending on which route your on, usually the ones with more experience get more Walmarts stores on their route )
Can anyone here answer this question for me.. Does getting a Missed Weigh Station citation and ALSO Over Length citation..Do these citations ADD points on my driving record?? I’m worried this might affect future employment and or any additional citations and my CDL getting revoked..🙃
What's up brother I'm looking for a job I don't have a CDL just yet I'm working on that but I seen a job post from Gordon food that says they will hire you and give you 90 days to get your license just wondering if you know anything about that. And do you have a referral number
What’s good my guy.. I don’t know anything about that.. I don’t have a referral number. Just use my RU-vid channel name. They’ll know who you’re talking about..
@@imanthonytv man I’m 37 now now turn 38 in September..I took the permit test just going off my common sense but failed once I got 11 wrong but I got at least 25 right..time to hit the app again and get to it.
Instead of me giving my opinion. I’d rather give my recommendation. I would seek out a qualified professional for advice on bankruptcies. Filing for bankruptcy can have long term financial and legal consequences.
@@imanthonytvyo Anthony make a video about this. Like your own personal opinion on why some one should or not go into bankruptcy. Based on your life experiences so far. I think us the subscribers would find your take interesting.
Hey bro how many hours do you work a week running the chain account? I start the 10th and I’m coming from Sysco. I’m use to being routed for 14 a day and I was told it isn’t like that at GFS
I work 45-47hrs a week. Most chain account driver’s probably average around 55hrs a week. We’re on the 60hr rule at GFS so they don’t run drivers in the ground over here with working excessive amounts of hours.
@@imanthonytv is that 55 hours in 4 days? They got me on the 2 day route twice I week. I usually work 55 hours in 4 days at Sysco too but I have at least 15 stops minimum a day
@reesiemula No, 5 days. A lot of us work an extra day during the week. However, if you’re on the normal 4 day a week schedule then it’s more like 44-48hrs.
@@imanthonytv thanks man. My manager actually called me today and said I can actually start the 3rd. I’m excited. I hear great things about that location and I’m coming in with a route already. I can also already tell the culture is way different than Sysco
