I ALWAYS wear my gear, helmet, boots, gloves jacket....long road, biking protector trousers. It is too hot sometimes....the aircon does'nt always work in hospitals.

I only wear gear on the parts of my body I care about.

Wearing gear is up to you man. I'll wear a jacket, helmet, gloves and boots every time I ride, but I gotta say that gearing up is a schlep of note. I've low sided once, and had one accident, and the gear that helped the most was the helmet, gloves and boots. The jacket stopped some road rash, but my jeans stopped none of it. Either way as long as you have a helmet you're protecting the most important bit. Also, gear just mitigates injury, it doesn't prevent it.

Shit its not always about you you could be going 50 have a blow out or something and you hit that pavement you gonna regret not wearing gear

I'll be honest, I don't were gear because I don't want to have to put all my shit on and off every time I go forna ride. What sealed the deal was when summer hit, haven't worn gear since. Still wear riding shoes and gloves though every time

Your rationalization is wrong! We ride partly because we want to become better riders and master riding. In order to become better riders we practice, often at the edge of our current abilities, this means we make rider errors and then we are going to need protection. People who don't wear protection don't take riding seriously and this means they don't get to be the riders they can become. Then an emergency happens and they don't posses the adequate skills to react properly and they get hurt. Often they die. Gearing up comes with the territory of riding. It's just the way it is. Like wearing a basketball uniform instead of a tuxedo in a basketball match.

I've been saying this same thing for years. Shorts and T-shirt makes me a safer rider.

Wearing gear all the time is such a stupid thing, only makes you look silly unless you're actually riding fast and leaning on curves. If you're just riding inside the city, not going fast, then it's not worth. I guess the whole debate on wearing gear only happens on countries where bikes are a huge minority and traffic is not very aggressive, which is a big irony. I'm from Brazil, where traffic is very aggressive, and there are a lot of bikers anywhere you go. We don't use full gear here on most cases (except for the case I mentioned previously). Heavy traffic has taught us precious skills on bikes.
