I got my ppl at 17. I got a flight scholarship in Civil Air Patrol, I then joined the Air Force where I became a B52 Gunner. I became disabled in my late 30s and could no longer afford to fly, and am now only able to get my aviation fix by living vicariously through people like Mike, and I fly in Microsoft flight simulator every day. Michael here has done more by 24 than I’ve done in my life keep it up!
went to high school with this man. his love for aviation was no joke and he's been nothing but humble and driven. i'm so happy for him! it was fun to see his journey from start to this video now- didn't know it went this deep! good stuff
That was my thought watching the man talk simply impressive. If I had the resources I would invest in these fellas business. I have seen their website and many of their videos and you can tell they have love and passion in them.
Just an old white privaledged dude .. But I use to build shadow box models and paint pictures, build RC balsa wood models .. Most crashed .. while now you guys get to fly computerized virtual flight models. But at even my age .. I live the passion and want you to live yours. I fly a M20A & Stearman. The Mooney is such a gentleman's airplane. Best to you. Your parents have blessed you, know it. Your love of a pc 12 is shared and much appreciayed. They are sweet to the soul of any pilot. Bless be your dreams.
Big thanks for sharing your story. Very inspiring and encouraging to a father & son who are interested in starting this journey. Much props to you and your parents who support you and your dreams!
My own early path mimics your own..... except I allowed young girls to pull me off my ultimate goal! You are living PROOF of what actually having BOTH parents & their support can do to make a difference. Love them !
Young Man THAT is an OUTSTANDING story! Follow your passion. And if have any inclination of possibly joining the military to fly…do consider it. You would do incredibly well! But if not….you will do anything you set your mind to. You carry yourself with confidence beyond your years! Great video! Nicely Done ✅
Greetings from a fellow New Jersey pilot! I’m based at 3N6. I think you should consider making the airlines your top priority and and be laser-focused and try to get there as quickly as possible for a couple of reasons. First, in the U.S., the major airlines are a seniority-based system. Your seniority is EVERYTHING. It determines what airplane you fly, when you fly (Christmas? Thanksgiving ?), your pay, etc. The longer it takes, the more you give up. Second, once you are an airline pilot, you’ll be in a position to “give back”. You’ll have the time and $ so you can mentor others, be an example, offer job recommendations, and even run a side business. There is plenty of down time in this industry (once you are in it) where you can do their things. I know pilots at my airline who do everything from aircraft sales to farming to distilleries. Good luck!
Nice to meet you! Please welcome myself an aspiring pilot.. Mojo Mike has flown me far. I hope your journey also inspires my dreams! Carry on young soul…
I loved your story, thx for sharing. You hit the nail on the head, i.e. PASSION! Passion is what drove / motivated you to accomplish these great things. You're an outstanding role model and I'm sure you inspire everyone you meet. God has blessed you. Your parents must be exceedingly proud of you. Keep going, keep flying. Your greatest contributions are the lives, hearts and minds you touch.
Somewhere there’s a kid watching this and wondering if he’s wasting his time on flight sims. Stay with it! I was a sim OG going back to the early 2000’s and now I’m about to have my Private Pilot cert. Checkride this month. Sims are invaluable for teaching you about the language and flow of flying airplanes. Once you get up in the sky for real you will be forever hooked and can begin to adjust your life goals and resources to make it happen just like this young man. Keep dreaming and doing, folks.
Recently fallen in love the PC-24 myself👌🏻 i was watching LA Flights live stream last night and i think they filmed a PC-12 land in LAX but not 100% sure, hope he gets one 👍🏻💪🏻
Great plan!!! You remind me of a young man that came to our family reunion in Texas, Drumgoole Family Reunion. I will make inquiries and see if he is still in aviation.
Godbless you Michael! Stay the course. God has great things in your path. I love that you want to give back and its clear where your heart is. You said it over and over and I'm rooting for you. My goal is to obtain my PPL and instrument by the beginning of summer so I can also take up young kids for free who never would have that opportunity. Id like to inspire others to reach their goals and show them that anything is possible. God bless brother!
I can't see when this video was made and am curious how Michael Colley is doing today. Did he consider flying military? He's like me, wanting to fly from early childhood. Great idea to start as a lineman because, as he says, opportunities present themself. This is a great story for youngsters. Do like Michael and start working, for free if you must, washing aircraft or towing aircraft. Well done.
An interestin story the gud has. Even more all 3 of us are named Michael. We def should all network, collab, & start a aviation business soon. I'm to start one myself as is once the time permits. & also shoutout to brotha Max Maxwell & the rest of the crew. #salute!!!!!!
Very Proud of you guys. With all this talk of what we Blacks can't do and who's being held back. You guys and your families have proved what how great how great America really is the land of opportunity. If you fucking dream it and live it you can do it ✌my aviation brothers. Stay safe
I would like to meet you Michael. I own a Mooney, would love to own a Bonanza and I currently fly a Pilatus PC-12. We have a lot in common. I have another suggestion on future employment if you want to take it to the next level. 😃
I want to fly planes for fun and make videos, no representation of black community in this sphere at all. I want more of us out there. I guess I should go to Atlanta aka wakanda, to learn from one of us and start my own journey. It’s lackluster watching folks like Matt guthmiller bc he just doesn’t seem relatable. Definitely taking this guys advice and thanks to MG for this video
The mooney is not a great 1st trainer for everyone, with the RG & variable pitch prop & cowl flaps theres more for a new guy to get wrong, It has unpredictable stall characteristics & is not spin certified so in canada you would have to do your fight test in a different A/C (spin entry & recovery are flight test items for CPL here...). They are great X/C planes & I have trained a guy on a M20c but he is a personal friend & I felt he could handle it. I still love how easy full rudder deflection and how much authority you have compared to how hard you have to press in say...a diamond. Fanstatic plane but it is called "The doctor killer" for a good reason. Not very forgiving to the ab inito guy.
I’ve flown an M20E and nothing about that wing felt unpredictable in the stall to me. It’s a slippery airplane and probably not the best trainer but it’s no bonanza doctor killer.
@@hobie1613That's cool, I guess the stall characteristics aren't exactly what I would be worried about , its inadvertent spin entry because of the light (but surprisingly effective) rudder combined wth wing drop could get a student in trouble quick. I never really pushed the Mooney around too much because it is a cruiser more than a trainer, Its a great time builder.
Recommend you consider giving back to America by serving a few years in the military. Great flying careers, USAF, USN, USA, USMC, USCG. I’m a retired Marine who flew and won’t ever regret my service. I share your passion and now own my airplane. Took delivery 3/19/20 of a new Cirrus. Imagine my journey because of my passion from the mule and plow, cotton fields, to fighter jets. After retiring from USMC, a corporate career with worldwide responsibilities and now ranching. All because I was born in an imperfect country but a Great Country nonetheless. You are an example of good parenting, I commend you parents for raising you right. In the word of LtGen Frank Petersen Jr, “keep pushin”. Gen Petersen was the 1st black pilot in The Marine Corps and a personal friend..
