i'm a full time solo parent of a 12 year old, he and i are the only family each other have in life i'm creating a path for him to become a pilot for his life because of your videos love from canada
I prefer to let the weather check me. I am sure predicting weather in PNG is near impossible due to micro-climates. In Lelystad, Netherlands, the Wx can change by the hour.
yes, the micro climates at first are hard to navigate, but after seeing the same patterns OVER and OVER, you get a good feel for how to navigate around all the Bad weather
The TAF in NL is usually pretty accurate to give a good idea what is going to happen. Also, don't forget to look at the trent.. At EHKD I can be good or bad, while 5km north or east or west it can be totally different.
A damp, dreich day in the Sepik! The flying in the Sepik Basin is such a contrast to the Highlands where you spend much of your time. I like the way you pilots help each other with weather information etc - just a shame HCM confirmed a mistaken QNH! Good of you to ask Moresby to relay the local QNH to SID when you couldn't raise him after landing - I'm sure he received it as that ATC lady seems to be extremely efficient. A good chance to see all the updated electronic information and navigation systems you have now - very impressive. The timelapse return to Goroka was great - gives a great sense of what it's like to fly over the Sepik and Ramu Rivers and the music was very apt. I've followed your channel for four years and have seen how over the years how you have learnt to really understand the clouds and weather systems in PNG and coming back from Wewak to Goroka despite the clouds you know in those conditions the Goroka or Asaloka Gaps will be open into a cloud free Goroka Valley. Superb content Ryan - thank you.
Beautiful final leg with the time lapse - sadly as a diabetic I will likely never be able to get a ppl so I will have to watch things like that and dream.
My dad considered flying for mission Aviation Fellowship after he retired from the navy in 1962. He had done his 20+ navy years and accumulated 9k all piston hours. What held him back was their requirement to have an A&P ticket. It would have been an adventure following him to distant shores at age 9.
Was in aviation for to many years owning a maintenance shop. When I would do something really stupid I would yell out give me a pilots license. You are one in a thousand pilots. I am impressed.
Been a fan a while, really beautiful places, waterfalls there Ryan. The asphalt runways look easier to land to me, the grass runways i always kinda wence when the grass is a little high, wet, animals, people; a lot to deal with, slope you do great at it. The most notable thing i notice is your impeccable detail for safety, always have plan B, C. :) You have to bush Pilot is a lot different than others. thanks for bringing usd along from SE Texas Bear ❤💯🙏
Do you think the previous pilot's instruments were not calibrated properly and that is why he gave you an incorrect QNH? What could cause it to be off that much?
They could I reckon but they have a special Medivac module which can be fitted to the seating track when some of the seats are removed which is usually a better solution. It was featured in a video Ryan made a few months back as I remember.
"without" got deleted on previous post. Sorry, no reparable pilot would ever say, "Why I fly without checking the weather." At 0:09 he informs us the weather is crummy at both locations.
Went to Tulsa Tech for my A&P...SUPER cheap. Plugged away building hrs and paying out of pocket, then became an instructor. If I did it again, I would have taken a school loan out and gone to a school so I could have got a job right out of school to build the hrs. Also, start before having kids. Much easier
