Right on! For a while my Model S was my only vehicle and it worked very well for us for everything we needed. Until we got our travel trailer which is far too heavy for the Model S to tow obviously. We then purchased a truck, but 95+% of the miles put on it are only when towing that trailer. I still tow our smaller trailer with the Model S instead of using the truck bed because the Model S is so much cheaper to operate and fun to drive! Especially now that I'm towing my Talaria ebike around I'm towing a lot more with the Model S these days. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KAFndulU_yg.html
Great videos on the installation. Just bought my hitch directly from TorqLift and got it today...7/12/22. Cost $492.99!!!! So, prices have increased quite a bit. I "squawked" a little bit and they were nice enough to apply a $25 discount. I'll be following your installation video (again) in a few days. I have a 2013 Tesla P85. Wish me luck!!!!
7/13/22 Update: Started at 8pm and got to the hanging of hitch onto the bolts by 10:30pm. The most difficult part (IMHO) was the removal of the T-25 screws at the upper edges of the bumper covers. I'll bet I spent 30 minutes figuring out the way to get to the silly things!! LOL Now, I think the bumper hitch may have been redesigned as the only way it seems to fit is using 8 bolts and nuts. I'd send a photo but it doesn't allow that on RU-vid. I'm going to watch your video again. Thank you!!!!!!!
Plus they're relatively quiet! I'll be speaking more to them in the video I'll be uploading about them specifically in a couple weeks. Subscribe if you haven't already to get notified!
Great info that’s the hitch I’m planning to get for my new/used 2017 model S. I’m worried it may void my Tesla CPO 4 yr warranty though. The Tesla SC folks are not very helpful or informative on the topic sadly... thanks for the video!
From what a mobile technician told me and comments online which yes I recognize the lack of official nature of any of these sources...a warranty will only be voided if the problem was deemed to have been caused due to the warranty infraction in this case towing. So even if I am towing but there is a problem with the stereo it would not void the warranty of the stereo because there's no way that that problem is caused from towing. Unless I install trailer wiring and mess with the wires really bad and then they deem that being caused by the trailer wiring installation. And for sure it wouldn't all of a sudden void the entire warranty of the entire car it only voids the component that has early failure due to the modification. I installed my trailer hitch with one year of CPO warranty remaining. I have had my car in for service since it was installed and they replaced a taillight that had dust inside so they definitely saw the trailer wiring and they never said anything.
Anthony Dunster Appreciated the reply and I’m sure you’re right, intuitively that does make sense; I tend to worry too much, I’m a hand wringer by nature. Looking forward to your Culyber truck review one day!
Thanks for the very well done video. Picking up a 2013 P85 Model S next week. 126,000 mi. Was thinking about getting a hitch because I got a 6x10 trailer. Another question The jumper seats would you highly recommend them? I had found a set here in Florida for about $1,000.
We love our rear facing jump seats! I'm not sure how hard it is to add them after market. Also consider that from the factory there's an extra crash bar in the rear bumper when the car was built to have the rear facing seats. Maybe adding the trailer hitch is sufficient. I don't know.
Hmmmmm....I'm pretty sure mine has been redesigned and no longer uses the support brackets. The ONLY way this thing seems to fit is using all 8 bolts extending out from the car. It is just hanging on there now with a few bolts finger tight. I'll know more tomorrow....I'm a little frustrated at this point. Grrrrr. LOL
@@ElectricTechAdventures I will read them tomorrow...I did this evening's work strictly by your video. It wasn't until I tried hanging it on the bolts that I realized that I can't just use the lower 6 bolts. There are 8 holes on my hitch. I'll keep you posted!! LOL
