So many of you have been asking for an episode about cold water immersion therapy. Most days here at ‪@MappertonLive‬, I go for a dip in the reflecting pool. Afterwards, I feel so energised and ready to tackle anything throughout the day.
It might look 'bonkers' - my new favorite word - but it has been proven to be really good for you. I have to mention that if you want to try this, take it easy at first and do your research!
So what are you waiting for? Go and do your dunk!

What's wonderful about you, Julie, is that you put your positive, lively and caring personal energy into all the nooks and crannies of Mapperton. People like you give stately homes life in a very powerful and lasting way.

I cold water swim in Michigan, all 12 months of the year. Your experience with cold water is the same as mine. I've reached a point where I crave doing it. Wife thinks I'm nuts.

True that about Kathryn Hepburn and i've always thought that it contributed to her longevity. She actually swam in the sea by her house in Old Saybrook CT

At spas I've been too on vacas, they rave about cold water immersion therapy. And correct: Katharine Hepburn tried to swim everyday.

That is how thermoregulation works. First you feel the drop in your core temperature, then all the compensatory processes are turned on in order to keep the core. That is a way to workout your cardiovascular system.

I have doing cold water immersion therapy without knowing it, I love swimming in cold water, whatever I go to the beach or countryside I always give it a try, I thought what I was doing was dangerous and that something could happen, glad to know is not! I'll fully enjoy it now!

Love it! Similar effects with a daily cold shower, if immersion isn‘t an option. Also allows wimpier sorts (me 🙄) to work up to it, until it becomes a full body habit. Glorious, ancient pool - I‘d be down there, too. So lovely to see it used this way. 💗

Been doing this for 20+yrs. Started for vanities sake. Dr Phil's wife Robyn, said this was her fountain of youth. You do get use to it and I do believe cold water is better for my skin than hot water.

That's great! My great grandmother did this! Speaking of research, A few years ago, we met a guy named Wim Hoff at a tai chi seminar. He stayed submerged in ice for an hour and runs marathons in the arctic in only a loin cloth. Check him out if you get time. 💜

Julie best regards from Austria. Why don't you take little groups in your house to teach them how to live and eat healthy, jump in cold water, yoga and all the other things you know to stay healthy? Im pretty sure a lot of people would book this special holiday at Mapperton House.
