Speaking as an atheist, I'm glad there aren't a bunch of intellectually insecure twits giving you grief for this. You are a vindication of the advice I give to people who come and seek out my perspective, when they are experiencing doubts about their religious beliefs. That being, follow your doubts to their conclusion. Regardless of what that conclusion is, you'll be happier for it. I have absolutely no idea why this video showed up on my recommended page, and I suspect this wasn't the type of comment you were expecting to receive. But, I wish you happiness.
Thank you for your kind words. I was borderline athiest in the past, so I am sympathetic to the athiestic worldview. I am quite familiar with the "twits" you're referring to (both athiest and Christian). Objectivity kept me Christian and brought me home to the Catholic Faith, and would love to chat should you ever want to.
Athiest here, I come from a evangelical background but I have multiple friends that are very devout Catholics (one of which just ditched all his plans for the future to become a priest) and I have alot of respect for the tradition and it's historic contributions to philosphy. Anyways I always love chatting about religion. I'm totally down to do a call or start a chain of comments if you are. As a Protestant, I love the Catholic Church and think there’s so much beauty in their way of understanding and connecting with God. I’ve always viewed denominations maybe differently than mainline Protestants - the truth of Christ is universal but the way we connect with God is different since we’re all so different. Proud of you for going on the journey to dig into your faith and find something that feels sincere and grounded for you. Love you man and I’m sticking around for your content.
I’ve noticed a huge shift recently of people leaving Protestant denominations and going instead to the Catholic Church. I suppose it really just depends on how great of an importance you place on the authority of the church vs the authority of scripture. Just always remember to never cease in prayer and study and the lord will lead you where he wants you. Wishing you best :)
God, I pray that you guide Jonathan on his faith. That he would walk in step with you as he is yoked with Jesus. That he would walk where the spirit leads himself. I pray you bless his life and that he would abound in love. Continue to remind him Lord as you have reminded me that he does not have a spirit of fear but a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. @LessOfJonathan well, if you take to true catholicism, then it is very worrisome. A basic teaching of theres is works save you. It is a really complex but boils down to that. Works have no gain in salvation. They are only a testimony that you are saved.
I believe many Catholics and Eastern Orthodox and Protestants will all be in heaven, but they all get a lot of stuff wrong. Your reasons for converting are more about you than they are about which one is more correct. Protestants Catholics and EO are all part of the body of Christ, and your comment about the holy Spirit teaching different groups different things is a fallacy
Well, since this is a real delicate matter, I am not coming out the gate guns blazing, I have many friends and family, pretty much my entire social circle is not Catholic. So I spoke to them why. I plan eventually to get technical as I hope to communicate truth to all I know.
@@nyutrig That's doubtful. The three major divisions of the Christian Church that we are discussing all agree on the fundamental requirements to be a Christian. All of the doctrinal differences and polity differences , while important, are not enough to say that these three different bodies are not part of the body of Christ. The historical method, archeology, some aspects of science, philosophy, and studies in comparative religion and probably other fields I'm not even considering while writing this post, all agree that it is reasonable to believe the Christian tenants, and that they are more likely true than they are not true. Yes we all have something wrong, whether it's specific doctrines and polity choices or something else, but the chance of any or all of us being completely wrong on the foundation of Christianity, Christ Jesus, is basically impossible.
@@nyutrig young earth isn't a required belief for one to be a believer of Jesus, and while the special creation of man in Adam and Eve is fundamental to Christianity as an organization, it is not fundamental to salvation. Salvation hinges on Jesus, not on whether or not God created man by means of specific special creation, or by evolution, which would still be special creation just over a long period of time by different means. There are plenty of things to read by scholars and protestantism Catholicism and Eastern orthodoxy, as well as church history on these topics. Science does not disprove God, belief in evolution or belief in young earth creationism are both tangential and may affect other doctrines that one believes, but they are not beliefs that are necessary for a particular stance in regards to salvation in Jesus Christ.
I am glad you are happy, but the Greek Orthodox Church predates the Roman Catholic church. They are also very similar by appearance, but have some different beliefs.
