This is one of those. This is my story about my motivation to move abroad.

Kudos to you for leaving your small community to seek more opportunities abroad. Many people only wish for that without making any effort and spend their lives without growth and discovering what their lives could have been had they just taken that chance.

I could never relocate overseas. Why would I want to live like a 2nd class citizen in place that's more expensive than where I live, and the weather is shittier and the people aren't as friendly? No thanks. But good luck on your journey. I hope you found what you were looking for.

I don't know why people act like living overseas is a binary choice. It doesn't have to be one or the other. I'm a British citizen of West African heritage. I live btw London, Joburg, Lagos & dip into the US for a couple of months at a time. They all have positives & negatives. I get the best of all worlds as do my kids. SA has nice weather, low cost of living, good food, nice cheap homes, UK has a great cultural vibe, more liveable cities, is more cosmopolitan, better job opportunities, much higher salaries, is a gateway to Europe and has a huge choice of amazing schools. Lagos has amazing commercial opportunities, amazing food & vibrant, inspiring people with superb energy. The US is like 10 countries in one. Amazing cities, great seascapes, outdoors, food, cheap shopping. And I get the benefit of all. I have never felt like a "2nd class citizen" anywhere, and I have actually found black south africans the least friendly to foreigners of all the countries I lived in as well as the most insular & underexposed

@@rvlng7265 Everyone has to start somewhere. You work yourself into a position to live such a life. However more opportunities abound for young residents of SA than people imagine. My own kids have leveraged a South African prep & high school education to get places in top UK & US universities. They have no work experience but have the exposure & support to successfully position themselves & they're now interning & working respectively at top global companies, getting global exposure. It is the OPs provincial mindset that I take issue with. Already dismissing the prospect of living overseas without clearly having ever lived overseas. It is a worryingly small & limiting mindset, devoid of real curiousity or ambition I find uniquely in black south africans. And it is disturbing

People move to these places because there's less violent crime, wanton murders, burglaries, corruption...you conveniently forgot to mention these things.

"I knew these things would follow me wherever I go, because I am still black." It hurts my heart that this is the reality of the world. But important for people to be aware of. You are a wonderful storyteller and human being.

❤My dear, this world is the same all over. Different sightings, people, cultures, faiths, political systems, goods, and evils. Be careful you don't become identified with the passing world. The thing is everybody wants to be happy. So their minds are always dissatisfied. It is so hard to trust that God will take care of the future, and we must focus on being present, accepting what is, and living righteous the best we can. I find there is safety when I do this. May each day we try to go with the flow. 🙏🏽♥️ Regards, From the Ben Noach side

You've obviously read this plenty of times but Nolu, you're a phenomenonal storyteller 👏👊❤️. This particular video resonates so much with me cause I absolutely love unfamiliar spaces, the joy of discovering things and meeting new people and tasting good food. Aah, can't wait for my feet to kiss the SoKo soil 😁😁.

South africa will always be my home. it's where I was born. it's where you don't need to explain certain cultural differences . But due to the escalating violence and so many things, I immigrated. Best decision I have ever made. I can travel the world. I feel a sense of peace, not having to look over my shoulder continuously. In no way am I saying that where I am now, there's no violence , there is violence everywhere but different. Growing up in South Africa has made me a survivor, made me a strong, made me more vigilant and aware of my surroundings, and for that, I thank my home country. Once I left my bubble is when I truly realised my worth and potential.

Such a beautiful and bright soul Now I will have to go read about South Africa. I’m so interested. I have heard the food is amazing I grew up in Louisiana with creole food. It’s a combination with Haitian food as French I was told Jambalaya which is one of the things I make well is Similar to some SOUTH AFRICAN dishes What’s cool is when I was looking to learn a unique new language. I started to study Afrikaans. I hope I spelled it correctly. I am not the best speller shy 🙈 ☺️

Before anyone thinks about leaving their homeland, please learn to fight. Even starting with the basics: Wrestling, Boxing, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, or Jiu Jitsu will make a world of difference when presented a physical altercation in foreign land; unarmed. Don't join the body count...
