Thank you for sharing your experiences they have helped me and my family make our decision to move to South Africa. We will still visit countries throughout the continent once we move. Just to mention America has load shedding as well. We have lived in US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico which are apart of the United States and outlying islands and we experience load shedding and it is not scheduled as it is in South Africa, many people may be surprised that load shedding exist in the United States but it does. Both islands are beautiful, but Puerto Rico is the most affordable for expats that need a break from mainland United States, and saving to get to Africa. Learn some Spanish because that is the 1st language spoken in Puerto Rico, but they speak English as well. So family if you need to save but don't want to deal with the stress of mainland US while you save think of Puerto Rico! Until you can get to Africa!

With all the shortcomings we have like loadshedimg etc but you still chose South Africa. You are surely going to reap the rewards when we inevitably turn the corner. Excuse me each country has it's traditions and cultures specific to it. We are popularly known as a rainbow nation which means we have various cultures and we accept and embraces the differences shared within those cultures. Some of those are African cultures, Western cultures and Eastern cultures. The westerners and easterners due to naturalisation are here so does that mean they should not recognize their own cultures. Jan Van Reebeck and Simone Van De Stel could not take a break from the sea by stopping in Tanzania because it is not en route with the spices they seemed in the East.

I always enjoy your presentations and I love the fact that you always take time to research and prepare some points before you record your videos. Now I know Southies can be quite intense on social media, but I do think that when it comes to politics you should not be too hesitant to touch some of the topics. Of course do your diligent research as you always do and maybe approach things from an angle of trying to learn more. People can sometimes fall into a trap of getting into a country, listening to one extremist and then taking whatever narrative they were fed and going with it. As a result end up spreading misinformation and receiving all the backlash. I think that if there's anyone that would know just how to handle some of the sensitive topics without upsetting everyone and getting cancelled😅, it's you. But... maybe it doesn't even align with your brand. I do encourage you to learn more though and have those conversations with your close friends. We consider you one of us at this point❤

@mfezekoMatshoba Well said, you have simplified what I wanted to comment on. Information can be distorted without you knowing. That is the reason we are where we are today. It should not have taken this for Americans and others outside Africa to know the truth about the continent. I'm a bit concerned about africans in the continent, what Ashley alluded earlier in one of her videos, "colonising Africa" The enemy did a good job in executing her plan (segregating Africa) WAKE UP AFRICA 🌍 and the rest of other Africans outside Africa. YOUR TIME IS NOW. This opportunity will not present itself again. Let us stop furthering chaos than what it is. Above all, let us be truthful with our conduct in everything we do. Let's practice what is good and with that only, Africa will thrive. Let us be realistic and be honest. I understand this is a wide and deep wound and can take years to heal. The sooner we wake up, the sooner we'll be free from our own slavery. Let's stop talking petty issues who is better who is not.....

Thoughtful leaders who think Sustainability and Environmentally Sound business models rather than quick fixes. Please consider lecturing and bridge that knowledge GAP. You are good with words and information sharing. Business Schools and Post-graduate Schools do take specilists expats for adhoc classes. You can even develop your own curriculum and have it approved by SAIQA on a particular subject. Development Finance and 21st Century Entrepreneurship Imagined can benefit from your experiences. Hi Ashley. I think you wanted to mean there weren't so many tribal languages spoken in Tanzania as compared to South Africa. Tanzania has over 100 tribes but you will find that only the older generations are able to speak indigenous languages. The rest of the population only speak swahili. I think the medium of instruction in Tanzania is swahili if am not mistaken hence many people do not speak English save for a few young ones. In SA, there are a few tribes and people still speak indigenous languages while English is the medium of education in most schools. Here you will find almost everybody speaking more than two languages including English hence it is easier for foreigners to communicate, find their way and not feel so isolated. So for SAns wanting to visit Tanzania (Tz) try to learn some basic swahili. You will be okay.
@davidngwesa
@davidngwesa 10 месяцев назад
The medium of instruction in schools is English except that it is not stressed enough and the standard is very poor. We learn all subjects in English except Swahili subject. Chemistry, Biology, Accounts, Physics, Economics, etc, etc are all taught in English!!

@franmdleleni6520 10 месяцев назад

@@franmdleleni6520 In public primary schools all subjects are taught in Swahili, of course, except the English subject. However, in secondary schools all subjects are taught in English except the Swahili subject. It's a different story atogether with private primary schools which have emphasis on the English language as the medium of instruction, which most Tanzanians can't afford. The standard of English is generally poor in Tz though. Most people can get by with English but can't hold a discussion or serious debate in it, even uni graduates.

This is so dishonest. There are many African immigrants who have assimilated into South African cultures and speak either Zulu or even Sesotho. Zimbabweans particularly excel in this despite their different accent. Malawians speak our languages. Mozambicans speak our languages. It's actually a given when it comes to Southern Africans. West Africans may be a bit of an outlier but I have come across East Africans such as Somalis and Ethiopians who have adapted to local lingos as well as Central Africans such as the Congolese mainly. I believe we can commend Ashely, as an American woman, without throwing other Africans under the bus and making disingenuous arguments because even some South Africans themselves barely learn other local languages. Do not even get me started on white South Africans. It really just depends on someone. You may not be aware of this, but there are also many Americans who struggle to adapt or assimilate when in foreign countries (including that of Africa). I wouldn't pedestalize them in spite of appreciating their efforts to integrate in our societies, whether it is Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Sierra Leone or right here in South Africa.

Nairobi claimed the top spot in the cities rankings, followed by Paris (France) and Montreal (Canada) respectively. I would like to comment on the idea of Tanzania not having strong culture and the language problem. SA and TZ are almost same size with same population around 60m. TZ have by far more ethnic groups and languages than SA, the difference between TZ and all Africa countries is that, it is the only nation using African language Swahili as a medium of instruction. Mwalimu Nyerere used Kiswahili to unite Tanganyika and Zanzibar to form TZ and under TZ all the 120 mini nations were united into one nation. Something we could not do in Kenya though everybody speaks Swahili but we still have Luo, Kikuyu, Luhya and Somali nations, just like SA still has nations like Zulu, Xhosa and others. It means to create one nation the mini nations had to give up a little bit of their traditions in favor of one nation, it means TZ is the least tribal (I hate this word) country in Africa and thus no tribal animosity, favoritism or tribal civil wars. Tanzania is also the only African country that is using Swahili as official medium of instruction from primary school to tertiary level education, is sad Mama Samia Suluhu is trying to change into English. The idea of Swahili as a pan-African language was pushed in the 1960s by Tanzania's first President Julius Nyerere, who used Swahili to unify his nation after independence. That dream is picking up, more countries in Africa are picking Swahili, even outside, Columbia is now teaching Swahili in schools. The East African coastal (Pwani) culture is very different from the interior (Bara), in other words Dar has more similarities with Mombasa just like Mwanza in TZ has more similarities with Kisumu Kenya. Non EAans who reside in Dar or Mombasa will get impression that Kenya and TZ are predominantly Muslim countries with Islamic conservatism when the opposite is the case. That is why Joburg is more reflective of SA than Dar is of TZ. It is also important to note that due to high rates of urbanization in Southern and western countries in Africa, the urban areas reflect the demographic and cultures of the whole country, what do I mean, cities like Lagos in Nigeria (urbanization rate 53%) and Joburg in SA (urbanization rate 70%) reflect the demographic of the country unlike Dar Tanzania (urbanization rate 34%). When it come the future, I will pick TZ and DRC over any other country including my on Kenya, estimate of the wealth under DRC soil is 25 trillion USD, TZ coastline is nothing but natural gas, plenty of Lithium near Kilimanjaro. Whatever minerals were to be found in SA has already been found and depleted. The economical system in Sa is like US not favorable to black people. To undo the system, it will have to go down before it can pounce back. Always look for trend, not where we are but are trending going up or down. What has not been developed in TZ and DRC is human resource and good government system. Otherwise I love my people in SA, the are very talented, creative and beautify, they need to support EFF to make the changes that are needed.. My advise to our AA brothers and sisters is that in Africa undeveloped means potentials opportunities, the Europeans and Asians understand this soo should you
