Why I left the Jehovah's Witnesses Religion (The Truth) 

One thing that pisses me off is, who I would have been if I would of been brought up normal. The way of thinking that they taught. from infancy. Even tho Ive been awake for yrs I still catch myself thinking like them.

Always more testimonials, always more activism, always more videos, always more voluntary withdrawals. The Watchtower Society is breaking down from year to year. The end is coming but not the end hoped for by the Watchtower. Thank you for your testimony which is added to the thousands of others. Today the exjw become a large crowd that no one can stop.

IT'S NOT THE TRUTH, BUT FALSE DOCTORINE.

I’m 75 years now and I left in 2016, I couldn’t be in a place where abusing a child I hided and people are forced to swallow their tongue and act like nothing happened! Is that love? Is that what Jesus preached ? After leaving, and when I had my freedom back, and I started to do research is when a Pandora Box was open and I learned that I was in a cult, where people are abused! That is not a new thing, that is their modus operandi! We were in a corporation, a business, where we were working for that people! I’m so glad I’m out, Jesus saved me, I don’t have to keep working for my salvation! I’m glad yo too opened your eyes to the truth about the “truth”.

I just wanted to say that I liken my past as a JW as being in a relationship with someone I loved and trusted with my very life only to find out one day that they had lied to me about everything and the relationship was not what I thought it was....it was a waste of my time and energy. Many have been hurt and put up with so much while in the organization, and all under the guise of it being “The Truth”. This is why I do not have any good feelings or positivity regarding it. However, I am glad that you had a pleasant time and that you were not miserable like so many. The bad outweighed the good for me....it’s a long story I hope to tell one day. Thank you for sharing. You will help many.

Greetings. Thank you for your voice. I personally appreciate that you found value in that religion, so these next words are in no way intended to negate those positive words. The reason why some have a hard time finding something positive to say, has been likened to someone being lured and kidnapped and raised by their kidnappers for years. The analogy goes like this: “After you’ve finally been released from your captors, would you feel impelled to praise them that they taught you how to cook, let you use the main house bathroom anytime you needed, or read bedtime stories to you as they tucked you in at night? Or would those things be eclipsed by the mere act of kid napping you and stealing years of your life from your real family?’” Why people withdraw their support from that religion is very individual, so well-done for being courageous enough to act on your reasons, AND at such a young age. Bravo!! Here’s what I’d like to add. Love among strangers is absolutely not unique to that religion, and its only after you’ve had fair exposure to life outside of that religion that you’ll be able to see abundant proof of that. There are loving and unloving people in and outside of that religion. And there is this: you are very generous in the percentage you’ve assigned to the truth value of that religion, and I can only guess that the value is based on your personal experience to the doctrine. My numbers are not as generous, but my analysis comes from my own experience which spans several decades, and only after I’ve reversed engineered the religion so see what its built on, made of and patched up with. It’s a mess. It is repairable though, in my opinion, but it’ll take a LOT of work, and metric tons of humility on the part of the GB, which at this point seems to be sorely lacking. 😁That's really good to be objective and not focus on the negative. People have usually been unfairly put through the wringer on the way out. Or they have been out long enough before deciding to share to know those things arent nearly as uncommon as assumed. Credit were credit is due...above average but not exceptional. "Worldly" people who do these things see it as natural to *cautiously* do so. It's not expected but not particularly noteworthy either. Still it's all new to you at this point no doubt. Glad you were able to be honest enough with yourself and learn. So much to learn. It never ends and thats a good thing....so much happier myself with who I am today. All I can say is welcome to the real truth. I wasnt a generation Witness but I was taught the truth at a young age. Got baptized at 14. Woke up recently out of this so called truth and now my real life begins. Happy you woke up. I too appreciate the good stuff I picked up from the organization but sad that I wasted so much of my precious time with a lie. I wish you the best on your new found freedom. i was recently disfellowshipped for the 2nd time, i understand everything you’re saying. it’s a terrible religion to be in. it’s brainwashing. it’s manipulating. i love how you started off saying what you appreciated :) very nice!

I was born in and almost a year ago I stopped attending their meetings .I always have felt something was not quite right but finally after almost 45 years I got the bravery I needed to start new and leave that organization.

And I agreed with you of course there were good things why Else would we have stayed as long as we did? But good on you for sticking to good values and seeing beyond the front of the org.

1971,I was told by an older lady jehovahs witness not to pursue college education. The end is right around the corner.did i listen to her? Yes.she terrified me and convinced me and changed my pursue of a career.I am 67 yrs old now and regret lisening to such nonsense. I have had a miserable life having to go work in hard labor jobs.so thank u jws.I will never abandon my love for Almighty Father in heaven and his Son and Holy spirit.

Jehovah's Witnesses really need to learn how to quit saying that other people's religions and cultures are sins

If you fall into their ideal picture and they see you as the poster good association then yea your points are valid. The truth is many are very very poor and in need, I was from a family that struggled financially our entire lives and my dad worked hard and was told that Jehovah would magically provide for us if he found a part time job and both my parents spent more time in service.. nope we got further in debt until dad finally said enough and it took years to just catch up to being able to eat more than one hot bowl of noodles a day. Oh and they don't just use the don't take your brother to court they ACTUALLY FIRST AND FOREMOST use the "there must be more than one witness, otherwise known as the two witness rule so if a child comes forward they are told since they have no other witnesses to the abuse they cannot proceed with any further action". The victim is made to recount the abuse WITH THE ABUSER in the room, the abuser is allowed to not only say their peace but also make the victim feel as if they "misunderstood" or are just "confused or hormonal" . They blame the victim, shame the and worst of all ask then inappropriate questions like "did he put his mouth on your *insert part here* ? " when he did this, did you enjoy the way it felt?" I'm not joking these are real fucking questions! In front of the fucking abuser! I was born in and wanted 23 years in this shit but I'll be dammed if I ever set foot in a kh again.

I went to the bathroom in the kingdom Hall in 2006! I didn't know that my dress was up in the back and when I walked in the seating area of the kingdom hall a sister pulled my dress down and I'm happy she did but she gave me a mean look and acted like I did it on purpose! I was embarrassed because I was surprised that she didn't see that as an accident! I was going to school in that area at the time and the sister and brother picked me up on Tuesday evenings for meetings and on Sundays! I was not a baptised witness I was just studying at the time! I don't study anymore because the faith is one big lie

I think that over all people are bitter and have resentment because of the sacrifices they made and so a lot of videos peoples are saying negative things..... yes there are positives but the negative out weights in to be honest...... your videos is beautiful and it’s nice that you have found peace to move on with your life

Girl, ain't nothing "true" about "the truth." The truth keeps changing. Their Bible ain't even translated right. But I wholeheartedly agree with you on the ability to talk to strangers, hold an intelligent conversation, public speaking skills, the diversity of being able to interact with different ethnicities are all good things I gained from being raised in the cult. I too am/was a 3rd Generation JW... I asked to be disfellowshipped from their organization about 30+ years ago. Like Yourself, there are some things that I am appreciative about, very much similar to your experience, however, my personal experience has left me (for the most part) virtually alienated from my entire family (3 Siblings, & too numerous to mention, aunt's, uncle's cousin's & friend's). I'm not invited to weddings of close relatives & was blatantly shunned at my Mother's funeral service at the Kingdom Hall. I have no malice in my heart, & pray that my family will see the light, however, for now they remain 🙊🙉🙈 to anything negative pertaining to the organization. I have read (cover to cover) the entire Bible, & Have yet to never found a solid brick that supports "disfellowshipping". It's tantamount to emotional black mail. I'm blessed though, because my alienation has not only caused me to seek YAH, for myself, but has also enabled me to strengthen my personal relationship with HIM. I am truly grateful in being raised not to sallute a flag, or to celebrate any of these paganism holidays, & also for the most part, having an early yearning for Bible knowledge. Be blessed my young sister in your uncompromising, unadulterated quest for Truth...as the Bible instructs us to search for it like fine treasure. UnConditional 💖

Kirby I appreciate that you have positives about your time as a Jehovah’s Witness. What I most appreciated was the community and sisterhood and brotherhood. I didn’t look for perfection but after hearing for so many years “wait on Jehovah” to right some wrongs I felt quite disturbed by the changes in “understanding” of various scriptures. If Jehovah revealed an “understanding” on say a prophecy which then the GB say there is new light - did that mean Jehovah revealed it incorrectly the first time. Further investigation brought me to the conclusion that this was not “The Truth” as claimed. All the best in your forward journey.

Hey Trish, thank you for sharing your personal experience. There are many wonderful experiences i had with many of the brothers & sisters in this organization. Many treated me with love kindness & respect. But there was another side of the coin & the opposite happened. I share similar experiences like yourself. I too learned alot from the ministr.y. Little do you know that the org deceived us to deceive the householder thinking its the truth...Ponder on that statement for a while.. Very refreshing I was a JW for 40 years. Very sad to wake up to imposter Anointed GB. I diss myself 18 months ago. Started waking up 2 years ago. When I joined bought that we in generation that wouldn't pass away. Not even 3 million JWs WW when I contacted. But we were innocent was like a family wherever I travelled in world always welcomed stayed with strangers who opened homes up to me. Camaraderie at conventions helping out. Have very happy memories some sisters called on a family member living in Italy for 20 years even though she never converted. The members were so loving problem was with leadership!. They like any corporation you are fodder for the evil slave class. We were the slaves working for hours for free plus free labour on KH builds for WT to sell them under members noses! GB/WT mocks trusting members. All those poor older Bethelites laid off after 40 years free service without a penny! Now looking for young fit Bethelites to rep!ace them so they can waste their lives! WT got charity status but don't know meaning of the word it's truly despicable! I don't really regret my life choices it's all a learning curve!

This is very disheartening to see I was brought up a witness 2nd gen and I didn’t have a childhood no happy memories it was a nightmare something I promised I would never put my kids through. I thank you and truthfully appreciate your video. There are many good things about the Organization. You're brave being a 3rd generation witness. I am not leaving the Organization because I know that Satan infiltrated it so people will leave. Only reason I'm staying is for the %100 truth. I no longer turn in field service time, I work for Jehovah not Watchtower Bible Tract Society. I need to hear a religion uplifting Jehovah's name and as Hebrews 4:12 states I will not forsake the gathering of myself together with like minded people. I am confused but I know Jehovah will deal with it. I still practice Bible principles although I struggle with loneliness.

I left the Org in 1983. For over 30 years I had no contact with the organization and never met an exjw. When I connected with the exjws, I heard people that had Just left having been told the same thing I had been told way back then. "Don't go to the authorities because we don't want to tarnish the reputation of the organization. " When I heard that, I was furious! Those phrases like, "Jehovah will fix it", are just cop outs! Being too lazy and uncaring to fix what God would want THEM to correct. God used to send a prophet to tell them to change their ways or face His fury! THEY had to change things! They didn't wait for God to fix things! Where people got the idea that God will do it, I'm not sure. Waiting on God didn't have to do with sex abusers or rapist, or filth. Research that!! I un-indoctrinated myself through slow research. I got out way before internet. But still I had thought that over those years that the organization would do Something to fix those issues! Nope! I found it was 10 times worse in my absence! People were being damaged worse. More people were suffering also! We all can say we learned something good while in there, but those good things are only used to hide more filth. After 1975 went by, it was then, that they started saying, " Well, it could be any day now." Which turned into, "Just around the corner. " Ugh! Happy journey! Peace to you and yours!

If I was a JW I'd tell my kids:1) Don't get baptized cos you a kid. 2) When you 18, find your own truth. 3) If you decide the world sucks, you can come back.

Hi..Happy to "meet" you..I agree with you to remember the positive. Ive always said that I know there was some Good out of all the Bad. We were all color blind. No racism. That was a wonderful aspect. Also I did learn Bible principles, and probably why Im honest and have a strong conscience. And some of the most kindest, caring, honest people ive known were JW's. Thats why it broke my heart finding out how bad the cult is. Honestly im in anger mode now. But i know most witnesses are just victims. The GB KNOWS though and they need to be taken down! A lot of people have good info, they just use it for their own reasons. I also was drawn by the social connection, because that is hard to find, but when people use their love for you to control you do you really want those kind of connections. All ever the door to door experience would help you develop confidence to talk to strangers which is good. I pray your social experiences will make you a true friend.

Congrats on your escape of the hellish cult. The longer you are out the more you will realize and discover about it. It will be a bit rough but keep in mind they made it rough for anyone to leave. Your best signal to them and others is that it wasn't enough to make you go back. If you go back you will just give them feedback that their tactics do work. Don't do that. I have been out 35 years and never once regretted it. Each year got better and better. I partially shunned my family just because I didn't want to hear them talk about the cult all the time and know they are looking down their noses at you for leaving. That's toxic and when my daughter was born we decided to extremely limit her exposure to my side of the family. That was long before the directive to shun even family.

Great video. There is no true religion and every religion has good and bad practices. Some are just worst than others. Overall Jehovah witness have some good teachings.

Believe it or not there are true Christians in other churchs,devoted to do what the bible says.I have been a Christian for most of my life and i dont want to be a sinner but i am and if it wasnt for Jesus and his beautiful sacrifice and resurrection i would not have the hope of eternity with him.Y ou are on a difficult journey, your courage and thist for truth has sat you free from an organization that holds you captive.😊

I was brought up a Southern Baptist-I know the difference between a Baptist or Christendom as they say, and the Jehovah’s Witnesses Organization-!! I appreciated the Jehovah’s Witness Organization better than the Baptist Religion-The Baptist Religion really didn’t make sense to me. I’ve always appreciated the Jehovah’s Witnesses Organization-However, towards the end of me leaving the Organization, there was a change in the Organization. The Witnesses started changing for the worse because the Governing Body started to change. I noticed that towards the end of me leaving the Organization, the Watchtower had changed their Doctrines. I noticed that they had the perfect man Job as being White and Job was an Oriental. I noticed little changes like that . I noticed that the Witnesses became more distant and mean spirited. I also noticed that there was a lot more child abuse towards the end of me leaving. I know that a lot of people will disagree with me, but I believe that Satan and his wicked demons took over the Organization I know that Satan has taken over every Religion because he is trying to keep mankind from serving Jehovah. When I first started with the Witnesses, I knew nothing about child abuse. I know that in every Religion, Jehovah has His people and believe me, Satan has his people sitting side by side with us. I can’t blame the Religion, because I do think it is the Truth, however, demons have entered the Religion making it more confusing and chaotic. I’ve also noticed that there are a lot more people leaving the Organization and this is exactly what Satan wants. Satan doesn’t want us serving God, Satan wants us to serve him. I’m like you, I’ve had wonderful experiences in the Organization, but because Satan has speeded up his work, the Organization has become more evil. Let me give you an example, in 2003, an Elder killed his whole family and then killed himself and he had been active in the Organization-We couldn’t understand what was going on, but like I said, Satan has speeded up his work. People don’t want me to blame Satan, but it is true, Satan has speeded up his work, which is causing a lot of discord in the Organization.

I'm a exjw and through Jehovah having pity on me he showed me what the truth really is also I still have a family member who is still blinded and it pains i me a few months ago I was born again I started reading the Bible myself not going to church just prayer and reading the Bible and once I repented fully and gave my life to Jesus everything changed I prayed for knowledge and understanding and to know the truth and Jehovah opened my eyes because I searched for Him and let me tell you when you are born again this physically happens to you John 14:21, 23 (KJV) He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. Now the organization are lying to everyone they changed scriptures from greek and changed them when they made the NWT Bible and once I found proof that helped me search for Jehovah Himself not no organization here is the proof the organization lies 1 God cannot Lie 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 2nd timothy 3:16-17 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. Mathew 7:16-20 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. The watchtower organization used The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures to make their NWT Bible I know this because it's public information and I bought a copy of one and you can plainly see they literally changed John 1:1 and John 8:58. The original Greek says for John 1:1 says "καὶ Θεὸς ἦν ὁ Λόγος" in English that is "and God was the Word" And in John 8:58 the end of that verse it's says "πρὶν Ἀβραὰμ γενέσθαι ἐγὼ εἰμί" in English that says "before Abraham was I Am" Now since all scripture is inspired by God what gives them the right to change and delete God's word. And as I said before The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures is what they used Greek with the English translation on the left side and the NWT Translation on the right and you can see line for line what it originally says and what they changed. I would encourage everyone to purchase their translation so you can see for yourself that they are lying to everyone leading the sheep astray Watchtower Bible and tract society 👆👆 Jehovah's Word should always be first in our lives their name says it all Blessed be Jehovah Praise Jesus Christ the Lord to the Glory of God the Father

Hello, thanks for your video. You did a nice job outlining the aspects of the org that you found beneficial. I was a born-in too but it's hard for me to reconcile the small bits of good in comparison to ALL the bad. The training in public speaking is certainly a transferrable skill, but the ultimate goal was not for us to be excellent communicators on a personal or professional level, but to further Watchtower interest. Either way we're glad you've woken up; you are seemingly young, so you have a lot to look forward to without the autocratic constraints of Watchtower. You have my best!! BTW, the "world" has many excellent public speaking programs. One I know of is called Toastmasters...just thought I'd share.

Thank you for starting your video off with positive comments about growing up as a Jehovah's Witness. When we remember the benefits, such as having a biblical foundation to build on for further spiritual growth, that helps us to heal and maintain our faith in God (Yahuah).

I like how you started out on the positive side of this religion. I do appreciate how the older man made my feel welcome and a younger brother to them. Being a black man growing up in the hood of nyc was hard. But I had admired how clean, educated and kind the brothers at the congregation where. I looked up to them as a posed to the gangstas, drug dealers and wannabes in my neighborhood. I was impressed to see JW families, especially black ones, showing affection and a sense of unity. I felt that it was my life goal to achieve this so call "ideal life" for myself and serve the most high. So, yes I agree. I liked the love and support that the witnesses gave. Unfortunately, nevertheless, it comes with a heavy price. That price is to live with a lie. Pretending that this made up religion is the one and only "truth" that God interacts with directly. I cant, i just couldn't anymore. Its not the strict and unworldly rules implodes on its members that bothers me, its this lie and the brainwashed tactics to keep us to believe in the lie and then spreading it to others. Smh. No more 😩. I am 37 years old. I wish I had warned my 21 old self to not get attached to this cult.

I would like to point out that I have also noticed people mostly speaking about all the Bad and not highlighting any of the good in the organization. I understand people are in different stages of grief or anger but to say it’s all bad is disingenuous and actually makes a person look foolish for even being a witness in the first place. I think you had a very grounded approach in your mindset! So happy to hear that you still have a relationship with God and it gets so much more amazing now without the baggage from the watchtower. Hi. I woke up a year ago because of the same thing! It was very devastating for me! I ended up just fading; however, I still believe in God and in His son Jesus Christ! Child sexual abuse is a crime, and when I found out that it was happening in the organization, and NOT being reported to the police, I was LIVID, I was HURT, I was traumatized! I left " the Truth" but the truth hasn't left me. I still believe in Jehovah though. Maybe I'm a Jew and just don't KNOW it.

Good video . I get where you’re coming from as to how JW helped on your spiritual journey . Me too . I liked the my book of Bible stories . Helped simplify what’s in the Bible . But overall there were too many negatives that were unbearable, especially the false notion of working for your salvation . It’s a service oriented organization in which you find yourself thirsting for the “ water” they give you . Jesus’ yoke is light and we should find refreshments.

When you find the truth of Jesus Christ you will have righteous indignation. He is calling you sister! I understand you completely saying this is the heartbreak of your life.

Thank you for making this video. I appreciate the knowledge you shared and bravery in making your personal feelings public for the betterment of others and help for those still in the Cult. I for one would love to hear more of your experiences growing up as a JW, and also if you’d ever be so inclined, to hear your advice in speaking with JWs who come to the door or mail you a letter or any JW encounter. I would love to help them escape their high control group to a life of their own free will choices and escape all of the lies and harm of cult life on the trajectory of ones life. This is a gracious exit story. Good advice to draw on the what you appreciated and how you benefited first before speaking of the negatives and the hurt. It helps you not to feel totally foolish or that you've completely wasted your life. And it helps to give consideration to good relationships that you've left behind even though most of them would not speak to you or would look the other way when they see you today. Of course I do understand why many of the ex JWs have come out swinging with their story, the hurt can be deep and truly personal is it is based on falsehood. I hope that you are happy today and found spiritual comfort.

The government body keep on coming with new light ,because the source of their light is not truly God,They call themself the truth, when Jesus is the truth.

I appreciate your video I am not disfellowshipped but I chose to walk away from the Jehovah’s Witness religion. Honestly just like you I appreciate the way I was raised to be diverse and to love everyone but at the same time I feel like since I was raised in the” truth” there was a lot of things in the world that I didn’t know once I got out there I felt really naïve about a lot of things. I also share the same feeling that harboring people who abuse kids is not OK. I also left because I felt like the whole dating rules with chaperone the stuff that was a lot for me to handle. I sort of feel like the rules there were too much to be able to put up with. Because no one is perfect so I felt personally that I couldn’t live up to those rules.

I would love to talk! I am an inactive JW. I had a shepherding call and then never went back.

I’m so sorry you’ve had to find out about this stuff. I accidentally found out and as painful as it is, I still understand why people stay in so it’s hard but I empathize with both sides of the craziness.
