I love the very authentic Canadian experience of telling international folks "I'm from Toronto. Well actually I'm from an hour outside of Toronto. Really I'm from Guelph" Why do we all do that?!
Toronto is more wekll known so it starts as the landmark so you can describe from there. I say I live in Ontario, it's 3.5 hrs north of Toronto so I actually live in northern Ontario. People find it easier to relate to Toronto geographically.
There's nothing authentically Canadian about the response. We all tend to tell people we're from the nearest, most easily recognized location. Then, a more specific location can be given. No big deal.
@@marklee1960 There's nothing authentically Canadian at all. Your entire national identity is either that you're not American or that you're actually French, depending.
Well clearly you cracked the code of the YT algorithm cause I found this channel about two weeks ago. Im HOOKED on Jamie and Julia. No idea about the movie but I know what Im watching this weekend 😂
I am hooked to this channel over the last few days. Binge watching the various recipes of Julia and Jamie. He seems like a standup guy, and I really like the off-the-cuff style. Same pet peeves btw. 😃😃
i just found him last week but man im obsessed its the type of cooking video i NEEDED and not some normie buzzfeed BA stuff yknow its fun its fresh its funky i love the content
I don’t think you are messy. When you are doing those mammoth cooks like you do there is no way around using lots of utensils etc. You always keep your station clean and clear. I’ve just discovered your channel and love it, thanks for all your hard work.
You have the right presence, the right drive and motivation, the right artist name, the natural talent, the right woman to support you, don't need Tosi's for anything, you'll get further. Wait, work, be patient as you seem to get to be and you'll get where you don't expect to be. You're right for this. Wish you luck!
You prolly dont give a damn but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the login password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Colten Coleman Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I know this video is from three years ago, but it was very interesting to hear your background. I too am from Toronto, although I know you said that you grew up in Guelph. I love your channel and the video that you had about using vanilla beans. It was so funny when you were scraping out the vanilla beans and thought you had to scrape up more with a cloth and get rid of them. I suppose an inexperienced cook would never have known that you need to vanilla beans to accent your food. I guess if you had never seen the inside of a built pod, you wouldn’t realize that the seeds for tiny black things and not large seeds like you said, a sweet pepper would have. I’m sure you have learned a lot of things by now and are more experience cooked. Every time you cook you learn something new about yourself. Keep on cooking and I hope you become a Director one day.
Been watching your videos for about a week and I can honestly say you are completely adorable. It was interesting to learn about your background with special effects which explains the “bowlies from heaven.” Very much enjoy your content, courage and humor. Thank you Jamie!
A really good RU-vid channel for cooking is Chef Jean Pierre. He makes things simple. He breaks them down. He’s funny just like you in a different way. Who knows if you check out his channel you may want to try a couple of the recipes that he’s done.
Ohhh Guelph! Very cool to hear you once lived in this neck of the woods, Jamie, a solid hello from Kitchener. I've been binge watching your videos lately because you have that wonderful balance between informative and entertaining. Nice to support a local guy!
A man after my own heart! I have made some terrible messes cooking. So bad that it probably would have been easier to move. I need your good attitude...desperately.
Ok I realize this video is two years old, but I just discovered your channel a few days ago. I am enjoying the hell out of them! I had the opportunity to live in Belgium for three years. I absolutely loved it. Definitely had its challenges, but all in all a wonderful life experience. Cheers!
My favourite youtubers all seem to be Canadians : Simply naillogical, Rachhloves and Anti-chef. I think I have to start planning a vacation in Canada. Thank you for your wholesome content. Greetings from Belgium :-)
Love hearing you reading the recipes out loud trying to figure them out, especially Julia’s! That’s exactly what’s going on in my head! Question:: who throws you the bowls? Just found this channel and went back to the beginning, and have enjoyed watching your journey. Hello, from Windsor…Ontario!
It's 2 at night here in India, and when I clicked on this video, I didn't expect it to get me motivated. But it did. Weird. Great video! I'm sure I'll be here one day thinking that I've been here when he had not so many followers! And Thankyou for answering my question! love Indiana Jones, too 😂 Also, please try Kulfi or Rasgulla if you're going for Indian desserts. ❤️ Try the channel Get curried if you want nice Indian dishes!
This is an older upload but only came across it today. I do enjoy your videos because you are so honest and real.- especially with your Julia Child series. Are you still in London? I have been living here for about 40 years from San Francisco. I also like cooking and learning about food - totally fascinating. My favourite Beatles song is also "A Day in the Life" Good luck to you.
Dude! I’ve been watching you for a few months now. Knew you were from Ontario but GUELPH! I’m in Guelph. Anyways, always exciting to see someone famous from here. ... you might be the only one. Lol. Love your videos and your papa johns pizza is still our go to recipe. Keep up the great content! 🌈
I just started watching your channel Jamie and now I'm addicted (I also love cooking and food)! I was surprised to learn that you're from Ontario. I'm also in Toronto and my boyfriend has worked in film for about 20yrs...in locations. Small world!
I also think a good idea for you channel would be to do a series trying all the technical bakes from the great british bake off. I think the new series starts soon so the algorithm may push those videos. Cody Ko was saying in his video he loves the show and he's American!
My daughter texted me a meme that said, "you know you're old when you have a favorite spatula." WTF? Doesn't EVERYONE have a favorite spatula? I'm glad you do!
Santorini is gorgeous! I had o e if the most incredible meals there. Restaurant on the beach, fresh caught fish with fried green tomatoes, and horiatiki with a side plate of olives. Beyond perfect!
My wife and I ran into a similar situation when we moved from Minnesota to Mexico. lots of documents, translated, stamped, revised, stamped again and fees for everything
Very refreshing video and channel man, I subscribed. Good luck with your channel Anti-chef, just started putting out stuff on my channel the last handful of months in quarantine.
Hi. Love the channel but I have one bugbear which I hope you don’t mind me voicing. I’m hard of hearing (since birth)and struggle with background music. You’re a film guy, and an excellent presenter. You don’t need it and it doesn’t add anything. Hope you don’t mind the feedback.
U tube PBS Julia Child French Chef program shows how to make croissants but get ready and strap in because WOW there's a lot to do! I'll never question price again!!!
Thank you!!!!!! Thank you!!!!! You are so cool and absolutely funny!!! Wish you success with your business! You will make it!!!! I know!!! You are not messy you are funny don't change anything. Please 🙏!!! Did you get comfortable living in London? How long do you guys going to stay there? Be safe!!! More videos 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thought we had a lot in common from your newer videos, I'm about an hour away from Toronto, my Birthday is off about 3 days, same year and month. I was going to go into Film School, even applied to Toronto but juggled the idea of even Van but started doing renovations and contracting.
I hitched a ride on a yacht from Oia to Ios once, many years ago, because I missed the ferry and had no money for a hotel or room. It was a family´s, doing the Greek Island sail-about, nothing shady. I was so crazy back then. Good times.
Hello Jamie. Please pardon me for referring to you as a . You're a joy to watch and listen. Those recipes are mostly complicated and you're always very willing dig in and finish up.
My grandfather on my dads side was born in Guelph lol. We are all in Whitby now. Good for you getting some adventures going … I’ve never been across the pond.
Crazy enough I was dating a girl from Guelph back in the early 2000s she worked at the country club in Guelph. Spent tons of time eating and going out In Toronto. Nobody mentions that town too often. Cool to hear it.
Great video. Darn I missed the call out for questions; we even follow you on Instagram and Twitter. You picked great questions. I'm messy in the kitchen too. Looks like a tornado blew through every meal lol-Shawna🍁
Oo I didn’t know you’re from Toronto !! Yaa!! Congrats 🇨🇦 another great natural resource made by you PS. My pups name was Ringo John Paul George. His brothers name is Eleanor Rigby 😊
Funny. Over the pandemic, my non-cooking self also used the time to learn how to cook better. Jamie chose Julia while I chose her disciple Jacques Pepin. He has/had a show called Fast Food My Way which was not about burgers & fries but elegant meals that take less than 20 minutes. I chose him over Julia partially because that &^%$* cookbook of hers could get complicated at times (I noticed those "Julia Child's _____ drove me to the brink of madness" videos so I'm glad I'm not the only one) and even in NYC I have a hard time finding some of the things she requires. No so with JP. I'm glad you're trying other chefs now too.
Messy? No way.. After I chop up onions and crush garlic there are skins all over the floor, even though I have the trash basket right there. I constantly clean. All part of the process. Enjoy your show.
a new sub here. and thank god you are not neat in your kitchen for your show. it would not be as fun to watch. now i know its because there are challenges cooking. keep challenging yourself!!! really enjoy your show. thank you~
Regarding those shipments of goodies you never received - I’m wondering whether they were confiscated by the border authorities. Some countries have pretty strict controls on imported foodstuffs. 😕
