best beauty channel by far! most channels repeat the same things but i fee like with this one you can actually learn. i always thought certain things just looked more "right" but couldn't put into words why. thank you for the very detailed video and effort i bet it took alot of time and research to make!

Its kind of depressing all of these stylings are just trying to recreate an hourglass. Those with less prominent waist need to draw attention and those with a big tummy need to hide it in order to look good in clothes? Wear what you want ladies, lots of people think what others find unattractive is beautiful. You dont need to hide your tummy or fake a shape.

I mean it doesn't say you have to do it, it says for those who specifically want to minimize or maximize certain areas. I'm sure people know they can wear what they want, that's basically what this video is. There's nothing wrong with wanting to de-emphasize or emphasize certain features.

This video made me realize why some shirts make me want to cry. I have a very masculine body with super broad shoulders, narrow hips, smaller chest and butt, and a muscular physique. If I wear shirts with low, broad necklines, I feel elegant and glamorous. If I wear anything with a crew neck--especially if it's a tighter shirt--I literally look like a boy. I'm gonna mercilessly cull my closet and get rid of everything that makes me self conscious. Thank you so much for this video, peachie!

Same here. I am tall with broad shoulders and an athletic body. If I try to wear delicate-looking clothes, like spaghetti straps, I look absolutely ridiculous. Like a She-Hulk 😂. Over the years, I've learned a lot about dressing my odd figure, but it's taken a lot of research and time. I'm glad to see a video that can help people who struggle with the same thing! I've got a prominent belly that is a B shape when you ignore my bust; I've got a big bust, big butt and hips, and big/wide shoulders. I'm short (5'2") and also have a very short torso, so high waist pants look awful on me. I've also got wide calves and small feet, and I lean toward soft fabrics (knits) because it's a texture and comfort thing. I recently picked up sewing in order to make clothes that fit how I want, so this video was a really nice reminder. :)

Honestly this was super helpful, and I like the breakdown for the general body parts. I find the Kibbe system too restrictive because it doesn't take into account bellies and waists and hips. A lot of the other systems are about fitting your body into a set "Type" based on what's closest, but I found this was really great for practical tips on how to dress specific body parts. I also found that I was already using your recommendations intuitively, and it felt affirming to hear that I do, actually, already know how to dress my body. Great video! ♥
@user-iw4yl7fp9p

Chunkier shoes can make calves appear smaller by comparrison. Especially if you have smaller feet (which could make normal size calves/ankles appear bigger). A-shapes & dark bottoms~ I think it's flexible. For example, just make sure your top color is the same or lighter than the bottoms, it's not that you have to wear only super dark washes to balance out your figure ♡
@gchungus
@gchungus Год назад
Exactly this! I have big calves, and the recent chunky shoe trend has been amazing. Low profile shoes (like vans and ballet flats) made my small feet look tiny and my calves looking giant in comparison. Now I only wear platform shoes that also help me in the vertical department XD
@elisa4620
@elisa4620 Год назад
I honestly think this is the best body type system I have ever seen (not that I've seen that many but still XD)! I really love how comprehensive and "open-minded" this masterclass is! I love how you're not telling people how to wear clothes to achieve some arbitrary "beauty ideal"; but instead you're giving practical advices on how clothes (cut, fabrics, colors, etc.) work and will visually impact the body shape so people can make informed decisions based on THEIR personal preferences. You also break down everything, with clear explanations, visuals, and an impressive attention to details. The only thing it doesn't take into account is the overall heigh of a person and their vertical proportions. Or maybe I missed it from the video. I suspect people with the same body type but different heigh and vertical proportions might have different "challenges" when it come to clothing. For instance, I'm 4"11 and I have a shorter torso (around 1/3 torso, 2/3 bottom half) that will affect the overall visual aspect of clothing on my body differently than someone who is 5"3 or 6". You're one to something fantastic. You could probably develop it further by making one video for each specific body part, with more advices and more visual exemples/explanations. If you feel like it, of course. Congratulations and thank you PS: according to your system I'm a petite XSn or ASn. I already knew several of your tips but I still learned some and this comes from experience after YEARS of trials and errors. It's great to get some validation but also to learn more and to know some people won't have to struggle as much :)

Tip to measure how heads tall u are: measure your head size (not face only, the head length) and multiply to 8, if it doesn't match with your height try multiplying to 7.5 or 9, maybe u are shorter or taller than 8 heads tall ( if it's exactly your height or like 1-2cm away it's the one for u )

it's good to finally have a type that i somewhat fit into, but at the same time, as someone without a defined waist, i'm so tired of having "define the waist" as the main tip... i've been wearing clothes that kind of makes the waist smaller, but at the price of discomfort. trying to define a waist that's not really there is exhausting, and just leads to pushing myself towards a body that i don't have.
@Devi-gn2cs
@Devi-gn2cs Год назад
Trying to define a waist that isn't there is indeed counterproductive. Especially if the outfit creates a horizontal line at the waist: the waist will appear even wider. Instead, wear clothing that naturally follow the lines of your body. You will look more elegant this way.

Thanks for another comprehensive body proportion styling video! I’m an A-S-n when not bloated and an A-dB-n when bloated. I have been gaining weight and unsure of how to dress my new body shape. I realized I can wear crew neck tops as long as they’re drop shoulder or have a cut-out around the bust. And I’ve been right to avoid high necks and turtlenecks! I’m curious about the wide leg denim, though. I actually haven’t purchased jeans in over a year, but I have tried some on and they never fit over my butt or leave a big gap when they do. The v-curve yoke and waistband tips are a lifesaver! But as for the wide leg, I feel like straight cut pants that lean more tapered when actually worn would accentuate my big thighs. I have normal calves and a big bust so have been eyeing wide leg cuts to balance things out. I think trouser-wide jeans will still be okay, but extra wide will be a little too much. Hwasa is a great example of how wide leg jeans can still flatter A shape if it’s moderate and there’s balance on top. I also learned flare is a horrible cut on me. 😅

Love how detailed and pretty everything looks! But I would say that the shoulders instead of bust indicate your body shape. You could have a small bust and broad shoulders and be an hourglass. You can also have a big bust and be a pear figure. So I would say the original 5 body types are accurate but each body types bust, butt and waist might differ in size! I think however it would be good to use "emphasize" and "deemphasize" or "show off" and "minimize" (or similar language) instead of "do" and "don't," or "suitable" and "unsuitable." Sometimes people may want to emphasize parts of their body or not, depending. For example, I have large shoulders and sometimes I really like to show them off and sometimes not, but being told clothing is "unsuitable" makes them seem like they're a bad thing. Just semantics! DID ANYONE MISTYPED THEMSELVES LIKE ME? I'm a broad shouldered girlie but have always LOVED accentuating my wide shoulders. Imagine Seo Yea Ji's tailored two pieces fits with padded/extravagant shoulders. That's what I like. Always thought it's kinda weird how it looks really good and makes me more feminine instead of looking athletic/masculine. Especially because I look very masculine (inverted triangle) when I wear baggy shirts. Not to mention I'm hella skinny and my boob & ass are on the average size, so not flat but not really poking out. Always thought my body type is boyish, inverted triangle, no waist, no hip, sharp angles. While watching this vid I realized the bottom half of my arms never really sit straight on the side of my body despite my shoulders being wide as hell. Turns out I'm a pear after all. I got A body type from the front, yet I'm dB from the side. Never really considered being hourglass or even pear because people who better fit the stereotype are always around me (i.e. pear -> really wide hips, prominently curvy; hourglass -> straight T shoulder blades that could cut you, really tiny waist). Suddenly everything makes sense. I do have a waist after all. I look super masculine in baggy because my waist disappears AND my pear hip is only wider than my chest, not my shoulders, so they disappear as well. "Dramatic shoulder + A-line skirt/pants" look really good because I'm basically highlighting my dominant features to the T. Does that mean...I've loved my features before I know I have them? Lol. Now I wonder how it'd look if I try subduing/balancing them out.

I'm basically H-I-T and I prefer to wear more androgynous clothes and proportions, especially since my shoulders are too wide for most women's tops. I also have multiple medical conditions, the main one leading to "marfanoid body type" meaning long arms and legs, as well as long thing fingers. It means my joints stick out more (if you've seen someone with swollen joints due to arthritis, it's similar to that), and it also affects what I can wear. I can't wear anything with high heels or narrow toes, so I wear barefoot shoes only (Xero Shoes has been great). I mostly make my own stuff, and I for one am very glad that wider leg pants are in because they're more comfortable and work well on so many people, even though all of these outfits are way too girly and impractical for me. I'm mainly watching this as I'm looking at wedding fashion, and trying to get some ideas for what would look better on one of my A shaped friends as we're so different. I certainly have some better ideas now, as sometimes what one would think of helping, might not actually do what you want. Now I have a better idea of how draping comes into play.

This is very interesting but I think that what also should be considered is torso and leg length. I have a short torso which means that my breasts are not very far from my waist which is not very far from my hips. I cannot wear a belt around my waist and round necklines (versus deep cut) make it look like I have acres of fabric before my breasts protrude. I have to wear deep v or deep scoop tops to break up the tons of fabric between my neck and my breasts. With a short body and long legs I have learned that high waisted pants are a big no-no. Mid rise pants with my top tucked in makes my torso look longer and my longer lower body in more proportion to the rest.

I think measuring is better than just looking. My bust is only a few cm less than hips but since your hips tend to grow on sides and your bust grows on front I thought I had Pear shape

I have the same problem. I am X shape with a very large bust and hip measurement and very small waist in comparison (39 - 26 - 39) From the front, I am very curvy. HOWEVER, sadly, when I turn sideways, it doesn't look like it at all. All my butt fat goes to the side, and not the back. So I still have a relatively flat bum. I'm somewhere between a B and a P shape. Like a B with a smaller B on the bottom. Upside down snowman shape. hahahah

As a sculptor of the human form who actually uses calipers to measure the length of everything, most adults are 7.5 heads tall. Not 8. I’ve never measured someone who was an 8. I’ve even sculpted someone who was 6’7”. He was 7.5 heads tall. NOBODY is 9 heads tall unless they’ve been Photoshopped!

yea same. i have been testing wearing my shorts a bit lower by folding them and i find my waist more enhanced, and looks flatter on the front angle, however, it looks very weird on the side because i have fat all around my stomach and lower belly protrusion. so, i can't wear it when going outside even if i personally think it looks good on me

I’m a tiny girl with small proportions but I have a prominent hip dip even though my thighs aren’t super thicc. It kinda gives a false hourglass look (though I don’t have the boobs for that 🥲) but idk how I would class myself because of that. Maybe an X or an A my goal is to emphasize my hips even more though because I enjoy that look more. So I dunno.

"Stay safe", "avoid", "hide", etc. etc. the intention of this video may be genuinely nice, but holy sh*t the wording is negative. Listening to the hips/legs section made me feel bad about preferring dark trousers, as if i didn't like them because they make me look and feel good, but because they HIDE my ugly belly so my body is finally balanced and like everyone prefers it. It's like the video is trying to gaslight me into thinking i have a giant insecurity about my belly & am trying to fully hide & negate i ever hade one. Yuck.

This was super useful, thank you so much for making such a detailed and cohesive video!! ❤ Now i finally feel like i have the full picture covered to flatter my body and feel good about it 🥰

Ok but also I think it should be more commonplace to wear “ugly” clothes. Idk, maybe I’m just talking from a very punk perspective, but I don’t really care if my clothes make me look good, more just that they make me feel good. I don’t care if my body type “doesn’t work” with my favorite jacket, my favorite jacket is cool and I will wear it regardless of how I look in it. Maybe this video covers that, I’ve only watched the first couple segments

yes!!!! i am overweight right now and is working on towards my body goals, however, i would need a guide that would help me carry myself a little bit better while still carrying the fat around my belly. when im looking straight in the mirror i observe that i have less prominent waistline, so that makes me an H, same protrusion on the belly and bust, with protruded butt, making me dB, with A shaped hips and normal shoulders. However, the clothes suggested seems off as i think it would highlight other parts that i don't want to show such as my upper arm fat, yet it suggested halter tops/wide neckline with straps on shoulders, making my upper arms exposed. i could never, for the life of me, wear sleeveless tops outside, though some people argues that it looks ok

It's sooo hard! It took me a long time to figure it out because those cone,hourglass,apple,pear shapes aren't absolute, but NOW I know what I can and can't wear. My chest is too big for button down shirts, for example. It either will make me look frumpy or the bottons will pop open. Even if I use fashion tape, it'll leave a residue. Flannel shirts are A HARD no on me. It makes me look frumpy and bigger than I actually am. Actually, all patterns make me look bigger. Even vertical stripes 0_0. I'm also slightly knock kneed, so I stay away from shorts (unless it's a skort) unless it's sized up and fits looser. I also stay away from leggings, tight pants, tight jeans (bootcut,wide leg, and the Levi's 90s jeans are extremely flattering and give me the appearance of straight legs) they all emphasize my ugly legs and large thighs. My thighs rubbing together are what ruin most bottoms for me. It looks good on some people, but mixed with my leg shape and narrow hips? Easy for things to look unflattering on me. Skirts are my best friend because they highlight my shape while minimizing my problem areas.

Ok, but what do I do if I'm both A type of silhouette and dB type of silhouette? Some of my choices for pants seem to contradict each other. High-waisted pants would be great to hide wide hips, but then I'd accentuate my belly.

even though you say that this video is not to body shame, it wouldve been very nice if there was more effort put into giving more diverse example pictures. most of the pictures are of already-skinny people. Especially for sections like, 'de-accentuating your belly' it wouldve been nice if the examples werent all of people who have barely anything to de-accentuate if u know what i mean

The tips for the jeans were really helpful. I was always scared of wearing loose jeans because I thought I'd look frumpy but the jeans you recommended seem like a good inbetween. One thing I've always found high waisted jeans make me feel frumpy and steve urkle-ish lol. I avoid them even thought they're supposed to be good for my body shape.

This is the crap that makes women crazy. Somebody is always creating "rules" for women to be beautiful. Notice nobody ever does this to guys - it wouldn't work. Yet women will drive themselves nuts over their perceived imperfections.
