Why I Love Papuan Carpet Pythons! - no. 166

Over the years Papuan Carpet Pythons were looked at as cheap, uninteresting, boring brown snakes. Contrary to old stereotypes, this could not be further from the truth! In fact, many people much like myself have become obsessed with them over the past decade. Their truly deep and richly varied color pallette makes for endless variety and dozens of notably distinguishable looks and phenotypes. The rabbit hole on this sub species runs deep and you owe it to yourself to look into adding some of these wonderful snakes to your populations! Of course I cannot squeeze my undying love into one short video so I hope you all enjoy this brief video and intro into my love for Papuan Carpet Pythons!
Cheers!

I just got my baby Papuan CP couple of weeks ago. I own a ball pythons and owned corn snakes/rat snakes and they are truly unique. Their pattern is very beautiful.

To quote Nick Mutton talking about Oenpelli Pythons, "lets be honest, its just a brown snake", well at night time (and various times during the day) mine are silver & mustard blotches!

Exactly! Look at them at night or different times of day and BOOM! Completely different looking animals. If only we could get Oenpelli here. What I would do for some of those….

Oh yeah! We’ve had some near freezing nights already and it hasn’t been warming up during the day most of the time. Great for cooling pythons!

@@Rileys-Reptiles maxing out my little guest room already! I do fantasize about owning g a home and keeping carpets in outdoor cages here in Thousand Oaks. Might need a drier species to consider though. Like diamonds. Isn’t there a keeper on SD area who does that?

Oh man home ownership in Central California is a pipe dream. If you can pull it off then I’d say do it. Yeah Brandon Wheeler keeps diamonds outside

I got this IJ male that I had since 2008. Would that be considered old age like to old to breed?
@Rileys-Reptiles
@Rileys-Reptiles 3 месяца назад
Not for a male. I wouldn’t be worried about letting him try to breed at his age. If anything he may just be too lazy and unmotivated
