I held my first one at the pet store today and am looking at picking up the baby soon, I have to say as baby's they are extremely soft 😂😂 like almost velvet like it shocked me but he was so calm
Can anyone explain what will be so different from having a coastal carpet python vs red tail boa ? As far as prey type size , who has best appetite? Which will appear larger cus i know they roughly get same size . Im getting a coastel carpet summer . I see alot these carpets in wild eat much much much larger prey regularly like they known for eating bigger prey for its size . Cus i see them eat monkeys , full grown adult chicken, in they seem to love possum , weasels, meerkats, skunks, rabbits, chinchilla, chipminks, raccon, ferrets, minks, etc . They do say these are snakes that will really eat any small mammal its not picky eater . In they do love birds. Lizards will eat fish etc. Also they are house cat eaters so watch out deffenetly will eat full grown adult house cat or small 🐕.
Hey homie,i would get that carpet python checked out. I dont believe thats a jungle.it looms for sure like a jungle jag,but definitely not a pure jungle.i have a jungle jag male about 5years old now looks pretty much exactly like yours and mine is jungle jag bred by us
Wondering where you got your carpet python? Looking at getting another. Had one years ago while in HS. But wanting to get back into it. Any information you can give me?
@@TheSnakeGawd I just set up a new enclosure for my baby JCP today. It's not nearly as good looking as anything you have going on. It's a 36x18x18 exo terra tank, but the hides are so small in comparison to the tank, it makes the whole thing look empty
Trust me mine isn't perfect! As the snake grows you'll make updates until you are satisfied. I like that they are active though they'll use the entire enclosure
@@TheSnakeGawd I hope so. She's still only a few months old so she is very small, we'll see how it goes. Thanks for all your helpful videos on snake keeping!
Will i be able to house adults in 125 gallon tank which is about 6 ft by 2 by 2 ? How big is she now ? Can she eat jumbo rats or gunea pigs ? And i see you have both snakes i really want this year blood pythons and carpets . But i know some people say both have good food response but what will you say has the strongest out bloods and carpets ? And i see alot carpets in wild take down huge prey compare to what captivity feeds . Large carpets wild 6ft plus monkeys , bats, possum, raccon , mink, weasel, chipmunk, squirrels , jumbo rats plus , them typa snakes eat foxes so cant have any small dogs housed pets or pet 🐈 that will end up dinner. I even think they will eat fish if giving . Also i want to know what grows faster out the two bloods and carpets if both babys and put on same prey size ? Also you say they seem too love birds in have taste for them but will they eat a bird like a maccaw parrot 🦜? Or will they eat a bird more like a African grey bird?
Hey buddy this is haywood greene if you remember mei feel bad tht i havent been as regular anymore been busy with my boas....gotta question tho how long should i let my baby carpet python go refusing food b4 i panic just got em a wk and a half better
Just got my first jungle carpet python but the next day he doesn’t seem as interested in the branches and basking spot he’s mostly hiding the first day I put him in his enclosure he was very active exploring he seemed to be loving it but could it be too hot since he’s not out
Just wondering if my info I been told is correct that carpets are similar size to dumerils boa in. They get upto 8-9 ft 15+ pounds . That's basically size of indigo snake just they are less girthy
Size can vary depending on species of carpet but jungles are known to reach average size of 6-8ft and females can get a little larger, but if we're talking coastal carpet pythons then they get a little bigger in the 8-9ft range.
I don't really see any types of carpets getting larger then 7.5 ft but I did afew but they rare it just takes them so long to grow to get 8-9 ft . In I want one for the summer as a hatchling that's why I'm finding out bout them . I had ball pythons in past was just too small for me but excellent snake
@@TheSnakeGawd is it better to feed a massive carpet xxxL rat weekly or 1 regular , normal size rabbit every other week ? Or 3 Jumbo's 10-14 days . One person told me his was 7.5 ft eating 3 Jumbo's every week in it made it obese , so will 3 be good for 10-14 days are just give it regular size rabbits every 2 weeks or 1 xxxL rat every week . I know Large balls python 5-6 ft will eat 1 jumbo per week in they are alot smaller so I figure a carpet 8-9 ft should do well on 3 Jumbo's 10- 14 days or will a normal size rabbit per 2 weeks be better ?
