I love that your entire love and appreciation for the Monster Hunter series is predicated on Square Enix's refusal to release a digital version of Birth By Sleep of all things
Who ever thought that Port Tanzia’s final days would be Hatsune Miku, Micheal, and a raccoon arm wrestling and dancing while eating hairy tuna on a bagel served by a cat. That’s just not something you’d see in a lobby in helldivers.
I think Bherna will forever be my favorite. GU isnt even my favorite MonHun game, but theres something about eating fondue in the llama village on the steppe that just feels right. Also if you want a Sqenix action RPG that has some of that old fashioned movie magic love for the craft in it, I definitely recommend Harvestella. Its a hidden gem that you can tell the devs really cared about.
I remember the first pictures we got of MHX for the 3DS years ago. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the backgrounds for the online hub, in Bherna village. Very low res, but still impressive.
This is exactly why I want the farm system to return, with its minigames, it makes the village an even more fun place to be. The fact its just a menu now really takes me out of that village life feeling the old games had. (Of course keep the menu as an option for when you want to be quick.) Tanzia is so good. Possibly my favourite location in all of fiction.
Wonderful video! I was chilling in the hotsprings of Seliana's gathering hub when I got curioud if anyone else appreciates the Monster Hunter hub areas the same way I do, and this video happened to come out just one month ago haha. Keep making great content please! ❤
Algorithm sent me this video. Was surprised when I felt the quality of the video and saw this wasn't a 50k+ sub channel. Great work brother 💜Stay on it
Loc Lac holds a special place in my heart because it sold the idea of "online multiplayer". Offline gameplay was a quaint little fishing town that needed your help. Online gameplay was a huge city with massive gates bustling with activity (especially in the chat, which may as well have been a general chat). Then the actual city had housing for hunters, with better housing granted to higher ranked hunters, as if an incentive to keep promising hunters around.
Honestly, I love all these love letters to MH from community...whether from new hunters or old vets. It's hard to admit, but I believe it's thanks to World & Rise, 3U and 4U online hub's been sayonara, and Wilds sparks the joy back for next year ❤
Sadly, loc lac city from mhtri was not mentioned. But its good to see someone doing a video about how the villages and the feeling of immersion and peace it brings to each monster hunter game are so important to it. Loved the video. Keep up the good work!
Scene 1 You venture on the Desert hunting big ass Plesioth Giaprey that followed you from the distance paralyzed you followed by Plesioth's repeated hipchecks stunning you After a long 48 munites of chasing Plesioth....it slept... Not wasting this opportunity, you planted your shock trap and finally tranq balls Scene 2 At long last you get to go back to Pokke village and so you immediately headed straight to the Blacksmith... checking out what stuff you could do with the fresh materials you just obtained and then talk to Quest grandma by the rock and see what next quest you unlocked... While listening to Pokke's lovely tune Alas, you're home **u earned my sub the vid is lovely**
I've never played it, but I can feel how special it is thanks to your video. The amount of time you put into your scripts and editing is obvious. Keep up the excellent work!
When I played KH I would spend so much time just looking at the background and environments. Also with Fable and then Batman Arkham Asylum. I miss immersing myself like I used to in games. Any recs?
I always loved these tiny details, I always loved the small funny things the palicos do, I always loved how pretty it was to just look at it was I always felt passion oozing out of MonHun games its so freaking full of it and man I REALLY want to play some MH right now but idk why I also feel I really need to not play them at least until the next wilds trailer, like maybe it would sky rocket my hype meter and I wouldn't be able to wait if I played MH now
Surprisingly good video, great job man 🙂 hubs are Indeed a very important aspect of this series, I wonder how much more they could be if Capcom invested more on them. Also a small suggestion, next time try to tune the volume down a little bit, it's conflicting with your calm voice tone, just a few decibels would be enough imo
Great advice, I agree. But fortunately it’s not too bad as I’ve experienced on other channels. I’m definitely subscribing after having watched this video - really enjoyed it :D
I think there's a pretty clever design rationale here: how better to make your battles feel epic and heart-pumping, than to make the moments between the hunts peaceful to the point of serenity, and charming to the point of endearment? It's a great design, but it's delightfully ironic that often it ends up fueling the inverse!
when monster hunter was released in 2004, MMORPG was all the hype in gaming. games like Ragnarok Online ruled Asia. that's why monhun took off right away in japan and most of asia: gamers understand it right away: you chill and upgrade in the towns, then go "OUT" to hunt. now MMORPG isn't as huge as it was, but monhun will keep the tradition alive. they know how to make "towns" better than most other devs. btw some dedicated hunters just "revived" loclac (Tri), after so many years. just search for Tri uploads, you'll find plenty lately. so don't say goodbye tanzia just yet, possibly someday some hardcore hunters will dig them up and revived them as well.
Monster Hunter Fans are at different level of loyalty if you take something from them they WILL take it back, just look at Loc Lac city it took 10 years but we finally get it back
The Epitome of background in games for me is Chrono Cross... Is just something else. I never forget about those places, and whenever i want to think in the most peaceful place in the wolrd, Crono Cross always, instantly, come to my mind. MH villages gives me a similar feelling, that is one of the things that MH 3 catch my attention back on Wii.
Geez, next time give a warning, never saw that commercial before I almost vomit if I didn't cover my mouth in time 0:48 And I agree thought not my most personal favorite, Port Tanzia is the best hub that I've seen so far, it just works so great in a mechanical and gameplay design stand point that it has to be the #1 greatest hub of all time. Coming from Gen, to 4U and then after 3U went to GU and Rise I am just baffled why each new hub just wants to use a third of what Port Tanzia can do? Or more accurately what you can do in it, sadly without online that's going away. I reckon that only the PC ports of World and Rise might have Tanzia style features since I think Steam already has that covered. And yeah Port Tanzia was a party.
Ohhh my gahhh I remember your PSP, you always had that thing on hand! But Monster Hunter is synonymous with you, I love your deep appreciation for this game franchise.
How has the algorithm just not picked you up yet? you've cranked out 3 actual bangers in a row. Here since the "Online Friendships" video. I hope you get that recognition soon!
