I'm going out filming with a very special guest in the next few days so stay tuned for that 😁 (insert bramble emoji here). I hope you're all fine and dandy and staying suitably hydrated. Much love - Hazy . ps, I've just removed a tic from my nipple so please keep an eye out for the little salad dodgers. ✌️
Just listened to your podcast with matt Morgan how did you manage to get on that lol been watching you a few months now but been listening to his podcasts with russel and noel for years now it was a great listen.
I can confirm that with the US version, the top piece turns into a day bag. Super handy for hiking into a base camp then taking smaller trips further up the mountain or something.
Hi Haze - with the ice axe, if you drop the handle through the bottom loop, until the head is resting in it and stopping it from falling through, then flip it up 180 degrees before attaching the handle to the bag , it will support the axe head better at the bottom.
I have this same backpack. The European version. When I bought it I really thought that I was going crazy when I wanted to bring the daypack with me. Indeed I throwed it over my shoulder. Love this bag. Have it already for many bushcraft and hiking trips tru out Netherland, Belgium, France, Germany and Sweden.
It's not a pack for everyone. There's nothing *wrong* with it, but it weighs 2.3kg and I don't need *any* of the extra features. Now I've gone UL, my entire tent + sleep system doesn't weight that much. It's still a fantastic bag and if I didn't already have a Marmot for heavy carries I'd be all over it!
Interesting top tips on this one that I can use on my Atmos 65 AG. I LOVE that bag too. Thanks Haze. Always a smile when someone enthuses nerd about a backpack 🙂
I purchased from abroad (The Brain on my back, turns into a daypack) the Osprey Aether 85 plus and absolutely love it. You can pack it small or you can pack it big, depending on a one, two or a month out in the wild. I have back issues and now am assured that issue is in the past when using this backpack. Great video
I just bought one - like a new toy will keep me occupied for a few hours to figure out everything. Your video really helped me decide to get one of these. I think you’ve saved me so many sore, sweaty back days! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts 👍😄🇬🇧
Girls do these videos on YT, especially beauty channels. It’s called ‘what’s in my handbag’ can you imagine anything more shallow & full of BS, showing what designer purse & sunglasses they’ve got, thanks for sharing what’s in your man bag 🤣 glad 2 C U doing well. Much love 💕
Been looking at this as my next bergen for a bit and then lo and behold up you pop with this review. Seen a comment earlier about you getting dosh for the review from osprey so get onto them ha. This has been added to my Mrs list for my birthday treats! Cheers
Great video Hazey mate, I have the exos 48 by Osprey... fantastic bags! Nice little b roll you had going on today 😀 Stay safe mate, look forward to the next one 👍🏼👍🏼
Hello Mr Haze. I have the older Aether 70L and love it. So the new one must be great. That was a very good review Mr Haze and really enjoyed watching. Atb Steve 👍
Absolutely excellent bag, served me well over the last 12 months. I just wanted to add that in the side pockets they have another small hole to retrieve your canteen/bottle so you haven't got to struggle by pulling it through the top 👍🏻 Too review mate!
Good review! I recently bought the aether 85 for a base camp in Nepal in 2024. I previously owned the atmos 65l.. Both have thier good, and bad points.ive owned loss of osprey products over the years One thing I've always been keen on is the daylite attachment on the front. And the detachable top lid as a day pack..
Just bought this backpack from Amazon uk. I was looking for a very high quality backpack and glad watched your review on this! I'll be doing alot of wild camping in the highlands of Scotland so I needed something like this to go with my snugpack lonosphere bivi. Here in scotland is under lockdown due to covid-19. Can't wait till I wild camp in the isle of Skye and Glencoe plus fort william. I hear alot about osprey backpacks so I'm glad I've got the one you review in video. Stay safe!
Just got this bag. Have gone back up in size from 45:55ltr to a 70ltr. Was all about reducing gear but, the torture of sacrificing one or two items was killing my buzz. Going back up in size (if I don't fill it like a newb) means I can throw my stuff in, especially when clearing up camp in the rain. That's mytheory anyway. Knowing me, I'll fill it and curse the weight of my foot spa, fleshlight and fancy piece!
I’ve got the girly version and holy shit is the anti-gravity amazing. I also use the brain as my bug out bag so I can throw all my essentials in my smaller pack quick smart. Osprey are amazing!
They have been making that model for years so I am sure Osprey knows what they are doing :) I would sell a shit ton at the outdoor store I used to work at
Hi. Watching from the U.S. (Cumming, GA). First time viewer. Really enjoyed this video, thought you did a great job in showing the features in an easy-to-understand manner. I purchased one today from REI, it was on clearance. Don't know if this applies to the European version, but Osprey told me they are phasing this out. So, I got a good price. I'll subscribe to your channel and see what else you have. I'm a hiker, retired, and doing section hikes on the Appalachian Trail (AT). Thanks!
So , my first backpacks were berghaus / karrimor sabres and jaguars in the 80s and 90s and then I switched to snugpak rocket paks , which are bomb proof but hardly ultralight . Since then I have had Patagonia black holes and montbell zero point packs and I really want an atom packs or those granite gear crowns to try them out . Despite that there’s days I go back to a battered and bruised osprey ag as it’s just right for some hikes / camps . This video explains why so much better than I can .
Love the Osprey Packs,. I sold a kidney and got the 60 litre Levity for the Coast to Coast. I have a big Marmot for heavy carries but the Levity is the one I hike with now I've gone UL :)
Great review mate Ive just got a staika and it’s quite heavy a heavy tent so I wanted a pack that could handle more weight. It feels amazing on your back, can’t wait to get out next month. ATB Paul 👍
Great review, thank you. I have seen other reviews that show the lid having the feature of being an integrated day pack. Pretty sure you've got the same pack there. It looks like a great feature you might be missing. All the best. :)
Just got my osprey 70l ag bag to replace an old falling apart bag. I love how it fits and all the options it offers. I am in Asia, but the model I got has the day pack no rain protector, but the shop owner threw one though. Can't wait to get out in the wild to test it out more. Good video :)
Been interested in this bag for quite some time, I have the Strastos 36 already, and I absolutely love it. Nice to see a review from someone I trust, easy choice for the next bag then!=) Stay safe mate and good vibes
Great stuff mate. There well constructed. I have the Atmos 65l, they are similar bags. Suffering from Achilles tendonitis so have to lighten my load. I think the atmos about 2.4kg. Waited 11wks for an atompacks weighing 900g. Still to try it out. Magic vid pal. Cheers
Omg haze!! You are soooo fanciable!! I can't take it!! You are sooo cute and adorable when you get excited about those gear stuff!! The bag is amazing but the way you are selling it!! Haha so good! Is the ether suitable for women too? Or is it only designed for men? Seems perfect actually. But I'm not sure I'd be able to carry so much more with it! The weight in total you see?? But it's so full of features!
I have recently discovered your channel and am delighted to have done so. It’s an excellent antidote to everyday life and I am gagging to get back outside into the boondocks. Thanks for the review of the bag. What brand are your trousers with the reinforced knees (and arse)?
@@HazeOutdoors BTW, if you're looking for some external carry ability without adding that 2nd pack, have a look at TribeOne Outdoors. They make a cargo net for backpacks.
Got same pack a month ago based on seeing you use it. They heated up the hip belt in the store for perfect fit. Was on sale normally $433 AUD got for $270AUD bargain!
Cheers Hazy, another great video. BTW the distress signal using a whistle/torch is six short blasts wait a minute and repeat. If rescue is coming they will respond with three short blasts/flashes. Just thought you should be aware of that...in case you need to rescue someone lol xx
Got a bit of an Osprey fetish meself, 5 at the last count. Top sacks, I've tried others but nothing compares, can't see me ever using owt else! I went for the Atmos over the Aether for my big boy, not much between them other than what your personal preferences are. Mrs goes nuts when I come in with another bag, she's still got more handbags though so we're all good for now!
I have this pack and love it even in winter with a heavy load im never aware of the pack itself as in the straps or hip belt.tried using a atmos 45 for the summer overnights usually end up unpacking it and loading it into the aether despite the extra weight..just feels less heavy 🤔
i have a question... how do you have a AETHER anti gravity? i cant even find a record of that model being a real choice lol. only the Aether Pro, or the Atmos AG... not Aether AG. very confusing. i like this and would love to get the Aether combined with the anti-gravity system
I’ve got the large size 65 litre. Big enough for me and my friends (beer) as I dont have loads of camera gear. So I’ll highly recommend this. One thing. Mine creaks when I walk. (Could be me old knees) it’s over 2 years old now and still creaking. Do you have creaking issues?? Also I read a book about anti gravity one time. It was so good. I couldn’t put it down. 😬😬😬😬. Nice review. 👍
No creaking with the Aether but my exos 48 creaked for a while at first. I just kept adjusting the straps until I hit a sweet spot where it didn't make a noice. Sounds like you need some WD40 on your hips mate 😉.
Brilliant Hazy. Thanks for posting. Much appreciated. I have this bag and agree with you that it is probably one of the best bags out there. So many compression straps!!. There is one female buckle at the very bottom of the pack, next to the right hand hip belt pocket, that, for the life of me, I cannot work out what it is for. There is no loose male buckle that would fit it. Any ideas??
Yep, had the bag for 2 years and had no idea about some of the features you mention. Thanks! I had a comment to one of my videos about the chest strap being so high that it could throttle me with a fall. What adjustment do you make to keep this at a lower (chest) level? Cheers.
Mahn, it's a damn shame that daypack option is not for Europe variant. I got Ariel AG 55 (since my body structure is small and color choice) from Europe and got shipped to India but it is without the daypack convertible top lid. Took it to 5287 meters, was a cakewalk experience with this. Would have been very functional with a daypack. Is there any way to buy it separately? BTW, which hydration pack/reservoir would be compatible with it?
