@@williamRRR - Lot of graded games indeed :). Check the videos and articles about the "Wata and Heritage Auctions grading game scandal" (especially from the video game journalist Karl Jobst). The all video will expose the Wata and HA grading fraud by exposing their conflict of interest. A lot of collectors are so annoyed by the bubble fraud and dishonesty in the market. These auctions house know very well the tricks and how to manipulate the market as grading has been there for comics and cards for many years and it works very well. Many collectors find this disgusting and a school-book example of some rogue businessmen and capitalist turning collectible into commodities that they grade, trade, etc. to inflate bubble. Some rich collectors, more oriented on investment, are just fine with that and will go along. Sad story of a rich world.

Another great video. You have a great collection and they are displayed beautifully. I started collecting movie posters in the 1990's when I got promoted and was assigned a large office. I had already been involved in collectibles including comics books since high school in the late mid to late 70's. I decided movie posters would be a great option and all these years later i am still buying movie posters from the 30's to current day. I can't afford the high end posters and don't want repros. I have about 30-40 posters on display at all times but I swap them out every couple of months. keep the videos coming.

Your videos are so good. I hope you continue to make content. I recently bought a couple vintage subway movie posters that were damaged heavily in shipping and it kind of stopped me from continuing with vintage posters :/ Really enjoying your content. Can't wait for more.
@themaddogcollection
@themaddogcollection 2 года назад
Thank you for the support! I will definitely try to make some more content! That's too bad about the damage in shipping - it shouldn't be a common experience but sometimes a symptom of a seller not appreciating / knowing the value of something like this - and it's so sad when a poster is preserved for 50-90 years and then gets damaged in 2022 by a negligent seller... insane, really!

O MY GOD!!! I FEEL you, bro. I began collecting 30s/40s posters in the late 80s. What a delicious hobby it was...I stopped collecting a variety and centered my collecting dollar on 30s/40s big bandleader KAY KYSER (a male). He made 7 features. mainly RKO (they had the best posters. my 2 cents). and what was great was no one else really collected his movie paper. I cleaned up. Since he was a huge star on Radio, films, and live tours, I bought that, too. Ended up writing the first full length biography on him- KAY KYSER- THE OL' PROFESSOR OF SWING! AMERICA'S FORGOTTEN SUPERSTAR. Keep going my friend! Sad they no longer have as many movie paper trade shows. It's online.. Cheers, Steve

That's amazing! I love hearing of your collecting passion - and that's a great approach. I am a completest, like you, and have picked little pockets to collect. I agree it's great when you pick a niche that people aren't paying much attention to! As you say, you can clean up! I am doing the same with Joe E Brown. I will check out these RKO posters of Kay Kyser - that's a fun era those early 40's RKO

@@themaddogcollection I had a chance to buy the Public Enemy window card @13:25 into your video for $150 dollars in 1977, but passed. That was a lot of money for a 19 year old back then. Also turned down a chance to buy the 1949 reissue of the Wizard of Oz insert for $300 2 years later. Still kicking myself...but what can you do. You're fortunate to be able to afford ANY of the posters you have in your amazing collection.

@@themaddogcollection I have only one problem with my poster hobby, and that is owning several theater banners and a 21 sheet billboard style and no mansion with large walls.... On a more serious note, the info you gave about 1930s use of lithography to print posters, the three color passes, etc was something I never knew - plus the film & photos showing the printing process was fascinating. You are certainly right - the colors in these early posters & lobby cards is exquisite. Your use of the poster-selling newspapers was inspired - how I wish they were still published. Myself, I use the internet to get around the world and find things overseas - but it seems to be harder to find things as collectors are holding onto what they have... I think there is less trading/circulation going on than in past years. Wish I could find out the names of major poster collectors so I could contact them directly about certain titles. It appears ebay, emovieposter and Heritage are the few remaining big sellers of posters these days. Again many thanks for your video - my only suggestion: make it longer!
@themaddogcollection
@themaddogcollection 2 года назад
@@DDumbrille Wow! Even the fact that you were offered a Public Enemy window card back then is something! I hear those 30's posters were even harder to come across back then! But that was a lot of money in 77', especially when the exchanges were selling one-sheets for $3 just a few years earlier (though most of the 30's material was gone at that point). Very cool though that you were in the action back then!

@@lawrencebrooks5996 Thank you! And yes the printing process was unreal back then! I'm convinced it's a lost art... I doubt there are many people in this world that would know how to service or even operate equipment like that anymore!

Really like your channel and the helpful collecting info. Was wondering what you recommend for storage of movie posters that are unframed (portfolio binders, blue print cabinets, etc.)? Trying to find good storage option for these rolled movie posters and regular posters/prints. Thanks, Rob
@themaddogcollection
@themaddogcollection 2 года назад
Hey Robert - rolled posters are a tricky one... other than storing them in tubes, I've found that flat 'blueprint' file cabinets are great, though costly. I get a lot of my supplies from Bags Unlimited , for lobby card binders and such. Another option, which I use for half sheets and inserts, is bagging and boarding them, one on each side, which makes it great to flip through. Those are available at Bags Unlimited as well. Hope this helps!
