I don't know why you are not on YT of FB or IG anymore. I hope you are doing well. I just want you to know that your videos are absolutely life-saving. Thank you so so so so much for taking the time and putting out those videos. I absolutely already knew each and every single thing you said......to the TEE........but still......I was stuck in food addiction and hardcore bulimia. My life was endager many times from the enlarged stomach. Your videos switched on a light in my brain. I changed everything in my life after finding your channel. I stopped......after 25 years.......I healed......I turned my life around. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Enjoyed the subject matter of this video. Went searching for it on RU-vid and was happy to find your channel. I am extremely tired of feeling hysterical and burned out around the planning, research, preparation and cleanup of meals three times a day! I’m trying to find ways to make that process as simple as possible and not to get to swept up in the hysterical hype of the different food approaches and the endless collection of enormous recipes I find on the Internet. My lunch was brown rice with steamed broccoli. It took me three minutes to prepare, five minutes to eat and two minutes to clean up. This is what I want more of! Really wish there were some pictures of your food in this video, though. But, thanks!

So many interesting points in this video. I can see it getting a bit of negative feedback though, because a lot of people follow an all in diet thinking it’s the way to heal, and I was one of them, unfortunately it is just too addictive even when you give yourself permission. I totally agree with what you are saying but it’s hard to hear when it means you have to give up that pleasure from food, but that in itself is the issue. Great video, given me lots to think about 😊
@KevinBurciaga

You're going to give up something: the pleasure in your food, or your weight/fitness/physique goals, and self-control. You have to choose what you're going to give up.

@Kendall Kundenzufriedenheit in moderation but some people, like myself, just lose control with food. I think what he’s saying is that you should choose when to eat for pleasure but on a day to day basis choose food for physiological hunger so that it takes away the want to overeat and binge

@@KevinBurciagaIn my opinion the most important thing is balance. You can’t go your whole life without eating processed foods, in some situations that’s just the only option of food available. Also if you divide foods into good and bad and NEVER allow yourself to eat those “bad” foods it will not benefit you at all, causing feeling restricted and just missing out on life. Of course there’s nothing wrong in limiting processed foods and making healthier choices, but I think food should just be viewed as food and it’s possible to have a fit and healthy body while still having food freedom and not feeling anxious when someone gifts you cookies and simply accepting the gift instead of throwing it away because sugar is the enemy and a drug.

this is awesome. so well said. animals eat to live, humans live to eat. somehow we got it backwards, but you clear it up and I love this way of thinking!

Too many people live to eat. Eat to live 90% of the time.

Great point.Food is meant just to keep you alive.Its just a necessity.Its not supposed to always taste AMAZING.Nobody wants to say it because everyone sugarcoats.Eating disorder is also about not obsessing around food too much.Unfortunately most people in ED recovery start from not eating and avoiding food to obsessing and eating everything is sight.No middle ground whatsoever.
@KevinBurciaga
@KevinBurciaga 2 года назад
I hope diet minimalism is that middle ground. You eat enough calories but you don't overexcite your brain. Food shouldn't be fun most of the time.

I think this is a great idea. I even read a book called The Boring Diet, which talked about basically the same thing. It does get tricky when you cook for others and love to cook new recipes. I guess you just pick a few recipes and stick with them for life? It is difficult to lose that hobby of cooking.

Outstanding vid! This "minimalist diet" is radical and experts might dismiss it; brave of Kevin to share it.

I like this concept although I would caution that ED is not caused by “variety” and those of us with disordered eating habits can still struggle on a basic minimal diet if we don’t address the underlying (often emotional) issues. For the average, everyday mindless overeater, the stimulation theory absolutely applies

Tracking calories has cured my relation to binge eating. I wasn't eating enough and allowing some junk food and bread. Pleasure is essential long term.

Hey Kevin, greetings from Australia. It's funny what you said about sex because I am a former sex addict in recovery but as soon as I abstained, my addiction for food become overwhelming, my escape like you spoke of. You have given me courage to take on your advice if you had a similar addiction to the sugar hit from processed food. Thank you for this video, I have subscribed and will watch more.

For someone with a family history of obesity and other health risks, I think I’m going to try this. I like seafood and soft foods like fruit, any kind of starchy potatoes, oatmeal, smoothies, soups, nut butters, etc. it’s easier to digest which is a big deal for me because I have bad digestion. I’m going to take some tips from this video. One thing I just can’t give up is fruit. Like I need fruits, specifically strawberries, avocados, mangoes and pineapples. I mix these with kale and spinach to get some greens in. I also like seasonings a lot.
@KevinBurciaga

Do it. Diet minimalism is so liberating! Don't cut out fruit. It's filled with nutrients and if it helps you eat green vegetables, even better.

Oh shoot, never been this early before! This will probably help me because I can be quite the gourmand haha. Sometimes you just gotta fuel up and not care too too much about making that plate "pretty" or "exciting". That mentality had allowed me to overeat in the past, especially at my school's cafeteria, because I didn't want to "miss out". But I can always eat it later and focus in good nutrition for now! :)

If people will only eat that "real ice cream" on a special occasion only maybe a couple of times a year then it isn't a big deal. If people would refrain and only do the desert for the major holidays probably no big deal. The rest of the year minimalist works. Simple, local, seasonal, whole foods and it keeps the cravings low. These other foods absolutely trigger the brain and cravings. Packaged processed foods, oils, sugars are the devil. If you need a chemistry background to understand the label it isn't food. Grow and raise your own food, and eliminate the need for labels and you may be on your way to a sustainable healthy diet. Minimalist works. People are so afraid to be "bored". Once you adjust to boring it really is good. Today we blame core food items for the health crisis when it isn't those core foods that are causing the problems. It is the everything else that we aren't allowed to talk about because it is the food porn that they are addicted to. "Food" addiction, you are spot on. Great video.
