I got 36.00 dollar ones off e-bay to try for the Tacoma & trailer and maybe to see if I can mount them underneath for skid protection when stowed. Good video showing the versatility of these boards and i think even tieing them together would work

Would like to get into some light off roading so I finally purchased a 4Runner, this is just what I was looking for did not want to spend a lot of money to have mounts outside the vehicle, but also did not want to start out on my adventures without the most basic of necessary recovery gear. Thanks for a very detailed and informative video.

Great video, here’s a great tip, if needed up in sand or watre, grab some paracord tie one end in the board couple of yards. if needed, insert in to any plastic bottle. There’s pretty much one everywhere you can find man. It’s like magic ! , now your not spending an hour looking for it. Becouse you know when you really need it. it’s goin to be dark, raining from the ground up , or Wendy’s blowing sand in the eye. But for you who say they would never pay $300, has never been on the back fourty and it looks like the moon. Here’s something you can build up as need. Add an inverter if needed , Buy 18v tool kit. I like the makita. Plug it up. Offers dual charger ,two battery charger has USB port. Always charging when rolling . They have aer compressor, spot lites, chainsaws you name it. Even taken a weedeater instead of the lively lad for when I knew there would be tall grass at campsite. And there’s a radio that WiFi if needed. And if your one of those guys who bust balls. The 1/2 impact is awesome.

Matt! Awesome Video! Might have to get with you for some camping one day. I have everything from tents, battery, sleeping bags, etc.I just have a car so I can't off road hahaha. Them traction boards won't work for me. Any who,I love what you are doing.

Yeah I’d love to catch up. But I think these would be a great just in case option to take in your car when you go camping.

Good video. May have to check these boards out. I'm in SC too and want to start doing some light offroading with my Tacoma Prerunner. Would love to have a jeep but hard to find a good one for a budget price. Will continue to look though.

That’s awesome. You should check out the SCAR. It should be a probably for your Tacoma. We just did a little section of it. Check out those videos.

Throw a lunch box locker in that yj! It’s like $300 and can be done yourself for in about 2 hours without removing the diff carrier

I would rather chew up the board then my tires. Tires are way more expensive to replace

So how did they hold up? I am looking at possibly getting some as well. No way I am paying over $100 for traction boards. I've gotten unstuck many times using what I could find around the area but something like these smaller boards for less money may be alright for me.
@SimplyMustGo

They seem to be doing well. I’ve only had to use them once and unfortunately the hill was more than even the traction boards could help me climb. I wasn’t stuck, just couldn’t keep going up.

I would love to, but I live in a somewhat tropical climate. We get snow like once every 10 years and it lasts for less than a day.

Nice video! I have a question though.Don’t you have a winch though? I would think a winch is superior to the traction boards. Also speaking of the winch, since you have the 2.5L like myself and you have lots of lights, have you done the alternator upgrade for the YJ? It will help lots with keeping the lights bright and the winch powered while in use. Plus keeps the battery charged good!
@SimplyMustGo
@SimplyMustGo 2 года назад
Hey! Yes, I have a winch, but a winch is really a last resort, plus you might not always have a point to winch from. Traction boards are often faster, easier and safer than using a winch. If the traction boards can't do it a winch or tow rope would probably be next. - Also, the side benefit of leveling the trailer or using them as a step means they have multiple functions as were a winch just has one.

@@SimplyMustGo guess I’ve never not had a tree around I guess haha. But yeah I gotcha, most of the time I just air down to 10-15 PSI when going off-road anyways instead of the boards. I have a great portable compressor that fits in your hand and airs up the tires quick.
@SimplyMustGo
@SimplyMustGo 2 года назад
@@jdfreeman97 yeah. I air down too. Again it’s more about having them if I need them and hoping I don’t. Also since the double as leveling blocks it’s good to have a dual purpose tool.
