My opinion on this issue will probably surprise you… In this video, Todd Friel lists several reasons why public schools should not be mandated to hang the 10 commandments in every classroom.
Wretched TV and Radio are hosted by Todd Friel. On the show, you will see and hear live witnessing encounters, discussions of tough theological issues, and Christian commentary on current events. We might even make you laugh.

Totally agree with point one. However, point two is a little confused. No where in the constitution is the state allowed to interfere in the affairs of the church, but certainly the church has the right to influence government. No where in scripture is the idea of hanging the Ten Commandments up a picture of sharing the gospel. We as followers of Jesus Christ are commanded to GO and open our mouths to share the Good News. They must HEAR the Good News in order to come. The church for to long has sit in the pews and kept the message to themselves. That is the most hateful thing we could do to the world. Not trying to be argumentative, but offering another perspective. May God bless and keep you.

"Amendment I: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." It's true that this nation was founded on Christian principles, but at the same time the Founders did not want one denomination or religion to be able to impose particular religious practices upon the entire nation. And yes the Thirteen Colonies had state churches, but most of them ended up disestablishing them not long after the Revolutionary War for the reason I gave above.

The word of God has this exclusive promise: it will never return void! For that reason alone should we back this initiative to the nth degree! Yes, the evil one will try his worst to subvert it, to distract from it, to counteract it, yet we must give God our confidence and our obedience in His proven sovereignty!
@larryav8r
@larryav8r 24 дня назад
But this is not relying on the sovereignty of God to fulfill His purposes. This is relying on the sovereignty of government. And, as Todd, and the apostle Paul, and countless generations of brothers and sisters who have suffered for Christ in other countries will attest, human laws do not bring people to repentance. What schools need isn't a plaque on the wall but sold-out believers with the Word chiseled on their hearts to make a difference. All this law will do is entice more sin and rebellion in the hearts of people who do not have the Holy Spirit, for without the Holy Spirit the things of God are foolishness to man. What this law will do is open the door to other religions that deny Christ to do the very same thing. And then we will be right back to where we were before a plaque was on the wall. Waiting on the sovereignty of God and His Spirit to help sinners discern truth from lies.

Most have abandoned our public schools for the comfort of the Private Christian school or homeschooling to protect their children from the world and its indoctrination. In reality " for the comfort of themselves " Since the vast majority of parents are way too lazy to disciple their own children, this is where we are! @@paulrivalto1974 You make very good points. As someone whose wife is a christian school teacher, and who has two teenage sons in Christian schools, it does seem easy for me to say these things. But my point was more about what will make change not just in public schools but or our neighborhoods, our cities, and our nation. It's never going to be plaques, political parties, or laws. It will be believers sacrificially living out their faith wherever they are. My wife and I send our kids to Christian schools not to shelter them but to prepare them for the world. To disciple them. They're certainly not sheltered when they go to the public pool, or go to work, or hang out with the their non-believing friends. It's our hope and prayer that Christian education won't be a shelter for them but a training ground to help them be the salt and light they will have to be whether they're under our roof or not. That's certainly the stated goal of the school we have chosen to send them to. But even Chrisitan schools are no guarantee that your child is "protected" from worldly influences. A lot of the kids who attend my sons' schools are there solely because the parents want a safer place for their child to attend. They are not believers. They acquiesce to the requirements that their child must attend Bible classes and chapel but they certainly aren't there to disciple their kid. We have many Christian friends who send their kids to public schools either because the can't afford private education or only the public schools have the AP courses their kids want to take. But I digress. My original point was that we, as American Christians, have become too accustomed to having political clout and we're losing that influence. Instead of trusting God and doing what every other brother and sister around the world has had to do, find sufficiency in Christ, we're clinging to the idol of political power as if that is what has been our savior. We're lashing out in fear and anger and not trusting God.

Yet, in those 17 years God has given me 21 men ( John 17:4-6 ) to disciple and to " Rub Christ into them thoroughly" ( John 3:22 ) in that downline of men from those disciples! For they have continued discipling as I have as well! ( 2 Timothy 2:1-2 ). There are now some 3,500 plus men who are making disciples ( Matthew 28:18-20 ) as they deny themselves and take up their crosses daily to follow after Christ alone ( Luke 9:23 ) and being Christ's witnesses both in their Jerusalem, and in all of their Judea, and in their Samaria and too the uttermost! Their-Neihhbor, Their- Near, Their - Neglected, Their- Next. Psalm 128 gives us a brilliant picture of a man who effects the world around him with his obedience John 14:15 in his walk with God! I agree 100% and am relieved to see someone sharing these reasons online. ❤ I've been thinking of some of these same reasons before this too. Unfortunately most Christians also don't seem to understand the commandments. Honestly "commandments" makes me cringe a little even, since learning the translation was supposed to be "utterances". But I too grew up knowing them as "commandments " as most do. I think even that significantly changes the character of God. I was shocked when I started to read whole books of Torah front to back, how forgiving and loving God was because I was in Catholic school and church as a kid, and was taught that Catholics were Christians that appreciate God's "fire and brimstone" approach....turns out Catholicism is not faith in the whole Word. 😢 I don't trust most churches to teach my kids the correct "commandements"/utternaces and other Biblical meaning, we are very selective non-denominational followers of Christ. I definitely don't trust the schools to teach this. Grateful my kids are homeschooled and yet we live in society with the majority being publically educated. We should pray for the best but be aware this cpuld be yet another trick to lead us deeper into the end- of-days-deception.

At any early point in our history, no one would have blinked over a sign of the 10 commandments or any other scripture proudly displayed on any building, and they often were used. In many of these older buildings, “progressives” launched campaigns to eradicate the offending scripture. The Ten Commandments were once hung on every public school and courthouse because it is our country's foundation in two ways. Morality is what is being legislated, and they are a check on bad behavior. Children would understand why some Christian businesses are closed on Sunday, and why Muslims attack Israel on Saturdays. These roots run deep. You are looking at this very superficially.

I appreciate Todd’s viewpoint. But the Scriptures belong to God and we only get to have possession of them in so much as they were made available to all, believer and unbeliever. The Ten Commandments are indeed a moral law, but also serve as relational laws, man’s relationship to God, and man’s relationships to his fellowman. These laws transcend Christianity’ claim to ownership but they should give definition to it! In a sense, since the universe is all God’s universe, the Ten Commandments are all universal in intent. Todd makes a valid viewpoint about educating our young minds regarding the reasons behind the Commandments being misused to forward political agendas. But although population variables have changed in North America the need for the teachings of the Commandments in our schools and on our public office walls still underline our need of a God of relationship and justice. So, for better or worse, I agree that the Commandments should stay.

On one hand, it seems like Louisiana is doing the right thing with this law. However, on the other hand, one could argue they are also committing a blatant violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution by respecting an establishment of religion (Christianity, in this case). I do not see this law sticking around too long. One lawsuit and it's as good as gone. The reason I say this is simple: all you have to do is convince the courts that this law forces schools to respect a certain religion above all others in direct violation of the First Amendment. This would be very easy given that the Ten Commandments are from the Bible, which can and will be interpreted, by those giving suit, as a religious text. At that point the courts have no choice but to strike the law down, lest they open up the possibility of government-run schools becoming religious battlegrounds, to the detriment of all involved. I do not believe young children should be subjected to that at all. For this reason, I am in favor of this law getting struck down by the courts. Feel free to disagree, but be prepared with a good rebuttal.

The law, in and of itself, cannot change human hearts. It can, however, serve to protect the righteous from the unjust. Calvin says this purpose is “by means of its fearful denunciations and the consequent dread of punishment, to curb those who, unless forced, have no regard for rectitude and justice” (Institutes 2.7.10). It seems that you have a point, especially since historically it was Christians who desired a separation of Church and state. I would just disagree that the 10 commandments only apply to God's people. The law of liberty belongs to Christians alone, but that is not the only use of the law. Charles Spurgeon called the state to repent of things, such as encouraging Sabbath breaking. The state should not control the church, but God is over the state and therefore they need to enforce God's law. I don't think hanging the 10 commandments in class rooms would do this though. If God convicts the state to repent of encouraging sin, then the laws will change and there would be no need for posting the 10 commandments in schools (this does not mean the 10 commandments will become law, but applications of the 10 commandments may). It's a very tricky situation, Mr. Todd. Thank you for your answer!

But it’s not a matter of if other religions are allowed to post their doctrines and beliefs in public schools and buildings, but a matter of when. At least until “if” and “when” they pose as large a threat to the powers of this dark age that currently prevails as secularism. Currently, they are only viable as support of diversity, inclusion, and of course tolerance. Encourage us to read the Bible for all its worth and to know and understand God’s Word.
