Setting a No Buy Art Supplies goal for the New Year. I hope to use what I have, spend my time creating (rather than window shopping), and to devote my energy to art and business goals. What are your goals for 2022?

It's a month in and I've held strong! I found that most of my temptations have been during times of stress - looking for a distraction / momentary happiness. I've been using practicing on a language app to "replace" the habit of window shopping so far. How are you doing? It isn't too late to start if you've been thinking about it. You set your own timeline, and start date :)

Omg I love this! After signing up for art subscription boxes I realized that they just stress me out because I get items that I already own so they just stack up. Recently I bought a number of items that I needed for a class but discovered later that I already had them! I was literally spending more time shopping, sorting and storing it than I was using them. I now have so many things that I’m overwhelmed and have trouble starting a new project.

I definitely relate to buying or researching or endlessly putting things in and out of the shopping cart, instead of painting. It must make it so much worse to have a channel! I support you and you have some great ideas about unpacking the stuff you have not used. I've been using the good stuff and painting bigger and with bigger brushes! This inspires me to think about some guidelines for a low buy for myself.

I too am doing a no buy art supply 2022 since the start of the new year. Im not a professional so no need to have “stock”. Just going to use up what I have. I discovered Neurographic Art so getting into that. I have plenty of beautiful high end supplies to last me a LONG time. The only thing I may need later in the year are my homemade sketchbooks that I make from Arches pads.

I was doing no buy this year too. The reason was to decluter. Eventyaly I want to buy new supplies and make videos about them but I couldn't. I am just really bad at letting money go unless it is ubsolutley nessesary. I did made few purchases after june because I was running out and I have to continue to film for my channel and make reviews. I would only buy things and review them right away and will not buy anything else untill I filmed the review. I am still trying to use up my artsupplies but I am exited for a big haul, refreshed.

Yes, the guilt compounded with the amount left unused for me! Running out is an achievement :) No shame in replenishing or trying new things!

Nope, nit doing a no buy. I did that for 3 months one year. However I am trying to spend my money wisely because I need it for my studio rent and also to have some backup with these crazy times we are living.
