In this video I talk about why I won't be attending the Aftershock 2024 music festival in Sacramento, CA. Do you agree or disagree with me? #aftershock2024
Yeah crowd surfers being on top of you, beer spilling on you, sweaty people, getting shoved around, thats kinda what a metal concert is bud. Its called having fun.
Your idea of being in the moshpit is standing to the side and just pushing people as they run bye lol what a whinerrrrr i dont like sweat i dont like smoke i dont like beer on me thank god you were not there the metal community does not need posers like you broooo 😅😅😅
When old age sets in the mind is like yeah, sweet let's do it and the body is like really? I don't think so. Sigh, so many concerts came and I watched them go.
All your complaints are my favorite parts of the event. I’m 47 and a disabled veteran and pushed myself to the stage. I even got 4 picks and a pod wristband. I had the best time of my life. Glad you kept your ass at home. You are a boomer.
I hear you loud and clear. A few years back my wife and I went to see Anthrax, Lamb Of God, Testament and Slayer. It was not enjoyable. Some guy comes running past us, knocks my wife to the floor, which ended up with her hitting her head on the floor, requiring 6 stitches. I completely lost it. Then security escorts my wife and I out of the venue, with blood pouring down my wife's face. WTF???. We will never EVER go to a big venue act like that again. The size of the venue you're talking about, not a chance.
@EdCollects Yeah, it was. This happened just as Slayer was taking the stage, they were the headliner. We never got to see them on that tour, I was sitting in the hospital with my wife.
@marlenepearson3936 Yeah I'm not sure. When I look back at that now, they might have been escorting us out for my wife's safety. It was general admission, so when Slayer hit the stage you can Imagine how the crowd rushed the stage.
I grew up in the pit at Cal expo seeing most of these bands roll through every weekend during the summer. It's a great place to watch people and at this point I am no longer in the pit but still enjoy the bands.
This is your opinion and you are entitled to it! Been going 5 yrs straight and always have some sort of issue but it is what you make of it ! We still have an amazing time with mostly amazing people! 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
You get to a point in life where enough is enough. The older you get, the less bullshit your willing to tolerate and deal with. Jam bands suck no matter what, sober or non-sober....
Friday was worth it. $200 per ticket for 1 day..a little pricey....yeah. That said it was about 85 degrees on Friday. Was it crowded, yeah. Vendor prices inflated...oh, yeah! I probably wouldn't have gone, normally, but my 13 year old daughter loves Slipknot, so my wife and I thought we would give her her first concert experience. I really never got into Slipknot, but holy shit! They put on one of hell of a show. Friday was definitely worth it. If they come back to Sac, I would definitely go see them again. My wife went Thursday, but wasn't all that impressed.
I am a fellow sacramento resident. I never went to Aftershock. I never could get behind the concept of paying a ton of money just to see a few bands I like. I honestly feel the concert organizers made it four days just to squeeze as much cash from people.
I paid $500 for a wristband that got me into maiden, slayer, anthrax, motley crue, Pantera, Tom morello.... try buying individual tickets for all of those bands and you will be paying over $1000
I never went to a music festival. But waited long hours in the sun 🌞 One concert at a time was enough. Ticket 🎟 prices were reasonable back then. I just really don't do any of that anymore. I'm pretty sure I have a couple of decades on you Ed. I'm also short. So, people would shove through me like I did not exist. Not worth it at all anymore.
@ @EdCollects I completely understand Ed. Wait until your 6th decade hits. Maybe the bands won't be so loud, because you won't be able to hear. Lol 😆 🤣
I went this year with my two sons, first time. This was actually my first multi-day festival I've ever attended and I agree with your reasonings here. It was an experience that I was able to have with my sons that I wouldn't trade, it was great...but...it did show me that the way to go to see live music (for me) is individual concerts, for mostly the same reasons that you mention. We got as close as we could for most shows, and yeah it's difficult to fully enjoy with crowd surfers constantly going over top and mosh pits springing up in the middle of an already packed crowd where you have to make more room that isn't there for a mosh pit. Really enjoyed it for the most part and it's an experience that created good memories, but I can't see attending the next one. By the way I paid about $13 and change for a slice of pizza this year.
I was there on Thursday and it was great. It took only 15 mins to get out of the parking lot. Bought a slice of pizza for $11 and it was huge. I saw zero fights all day. You can't expect to be up front and not be squished by smelly people and have crowd surfers up on the crowd at a festival. Why do you say of course it was Pennywise? I've seen more fights at a metal show then a punk show. I've been going to shows for almost 4 decades and won't stop
I'm close to being done after this round. At least I'm not gonna buy the 4 day passes up front and will wait until the lineup announcements and only go on the days i REALLY want to go. Sure I've seen some great bands all 3 days so far and will see more today but it is getting to be not worth it. So many phones are getting stolen once it gets dark and crowded, prepackaged and reheated food is 20 bucks, a beer is 15, shirts are 50 and if you are lucky, the merch line is about an hour or even more. I haven't come across any serious a-holes yet but I'm sure they are out there... they always are.
Try the World Series of rock At Cleveland Stadium in '74!! The Beach boys, Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC Aerosmith the cars Chicago Crosby stills Nash and Young, Def Leppard, Joe Walsh, Oreo Speedwagon, yellow, Fleetwood Mac, thin Lizzy, J Geils and many many more! Now that is a concert!
I was there for all the days. Didn't witness a single fight. As for getting close to the stage. You can get there no problem, just have to do it early enough. All stages have huge screens on either side and all shows are filmed, so even if you waiting super early, you can watch the show going on, on another stage. At 54 my feet did hurt as well but c'mon dude, that's just a small price to pay if you really love the music. Also you can go for as few days as you want. You don't have to buy tix for all 4 days. Seriously, I think you just need a hug, my dude.
That's cool man, glad you enjoyed it. For the most part I'm gonna stick to individual concerts. Every band I wanted to see this year I've seen multiple times.
I see your point when it comes to getting up to the stage, aftershock has to be planned. have a ride there to be dropped off and an Uber out. I’m still young but I’ve been going since 2015. Always go with my father (also loves getting to the front of stage) but we’ve created our own fun being further away with older fans, they are just as energetic minus nasty and much more craziness (moshing). Sadly won’t be going this year, never seen Iron Maiden live and that’s the only band other than pantera, priest and disturbed I’d want to see… that’s my yap
I've lost count of how many concerts been to but I've seen every Ozzfest at the Gorge amphitheatre in George Washington State talk about brutal mosh pit every time I went & the camping in the campgrounds right by the Gorge amphitheatre party 🥳🎉 24/7 before & after the concert but it was one of the best memories ever going
@@EdCollects if you go concert prepare for the monster hill up/down 👇 to the mosh pit area plus the background for the concert is so beautiful Columbia river in the background one of the best outdoor venues I've ever been to & from being born raised in Spokane Washington I went to Monsters of Rock concert 1988 July 20th with bands Kingdom Come, Metallica,Dokken, Scorpions & Van Halen with singer Sammy Hagar instead of David Lee Roth one of the best concerts I've ever been to only $25 even though it was incredibly hot 🔥🥵 sunburnt it was definitely worth going
I hear ya, brother. If a band I really want to see is playing, I might buy a single day pass in order to see them, and maybe a few others, but then I would have to leave. Yes, age is catching up with me, also, but I would also try to go see a band I really wanted to.
Us festival 83 heavy metal day - 500 thousand people - 113 thst day. Brutal is an understament. They found dead people in the aftermath. But the tickets were 20 dollars. I will never go to a festival again. We see the metal bands in smaller places nowadays. Better shows, more songs, right in your face full volume.
Dude I went all four days just got out were else are you going to see motley crue slayer slipknot iron maiden judas preist disturbed and way more for 550$ 😂😂😂
Exactly! I spent $200 on a GA ticket to maiden in LA last Tuesday, just maiden! I spent $500 for a 4 day wristband and saw maiden again with slayer motley crue, Tom morello, slipknot, anthrax, etc for $500!!! What a deal!
I went to knotfest Iowa this year and it was really well put together and everyone was respectful to everyone. Food and merch was fairly cheap and water was free. Their were 25 thousand people their. I don't think I would ever go to Aftershock or louder than life.
Mah Gaud! R&R aint clean. Try 150,000 sweaty people in summer. I went to the Sedelia Rockfest 1975. It was in.....sane. I already wrote of the only violence I suffered but yeah Ive seen a bunch.😮
@@EdCollects Hey Ed! I looked up that Sedalia Fest. It was 1974. Opps! Ok I was 14yrs old. It cost me $20. They only sold so many tickets but 10s of 1000s just kept coming anyway & overwhelmed the fair grounds.
😂😂😂 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ sorry for after shock has left a bad taste in your mouth, you got me beat, concert wise I've seen over 375 concert where you've seen 500... The Pish concert you're you are referring to to drug you're referring to... "LYSERGIC ACID DIETHYLAMIID TARATRATE NUMBER 25 FROM THE ERGOT OF THE RYE FROM THE."... THE END 😂
Or pick a day or two and go to them. You have to expect to be on your feet all day at a festival. Second off it’s California!!!! It’s gonna be hot. If you don’t dress for that then that’a on you brotha but it’s always gonna be 4 days for now on because they can get more people to come and more bands to play. Like I went this year and saw none of that. So idk what bands you were seeing but none of the things you said happened at aftershock 2024.
Everyone had the greatest time minus you dont go to any other metal or rock shows if your gonna cry about i feel like youre gonna complain about how they sounds live
I only went Saturday, and I have no complaints besides the price of food, booze, and as for people in the area with thier rudeness and their morals have gone down the toilet I don’t talk to anyone unless I run into I know. I had a good time lol and as for parking I had no problem finding it and he didn’t pay for shit you could’ve literally parked off Richard Boulevard after you passed the police station and at the corner of chef’s toys.. lol sure the way the world is going for festivals is getting hectic and very chaotic with how many people attend, trash and just everything else involved..I had no issue plus I didn’t buy any of the food or booze I brought three cones to smoke on and I had a blast and for 75 bucks I think it was pretty badass lol 😊 as for trying to find a good spot to see the performances you gotta be on your toes and know how to work around the crowd. It’s not that hard lol
Pusssssssyyyyyyyuy. I just came from aftershock 2024 and i look like a leopard from all the bruises i have lol 😂 aftershock is for the people who wanna party like it’s Woodstock and mosh in the pits of hell to great music. Go to an amphitheater pay out the assss for front row seats. Metal just ain’t metal if you aren’t moshing to it! O and it was 78 degrees Friday 😎 but I’ve been going since 2018 love here lol 😂
Its best to go see the bands you want to see and then bounce on out ots not worth going all day i went on Friday all day and left my buddy was dehydrated and i felt bad for my buddy we didn't get to see Slipknot i was more worried about my friend
Such a bad take lol. Just stay home, you don't enjoy live music. This whole rant was just complaining that you don't like concerts. It was a dope festival, sweet sets, perfect weather. You missed out and we didn't miss you.
Ya its hard when your older and the young people are moving all over and you c.ant keep up. I went to this one for 3 days and was in VIP and that was packed as well. They need to control the alcohol consumption people should smoke weed at least your not an a hole
God your reasons for not going are just plain wack. Cause youre gonna be in crowds? Cause youre not gonna get a pick? Cause you cant be at the front? I was at the front all 4 days this weekend and had no issues whatsoever. Also youd rather stay home and watch a dvd? 😂
What can I say other than I'm getting older. Everyone I would have wanted to see there I've seen many times. Like I said Metallica's The Only Thing Worth me going. There were a lot of weak bands that I never want to see.
man you really cried on the internet about this? go or don't. I'm personally sad that due to rome burning I couldn't afford to go. You could afford to go and cried about why you're not..... laughable.
No one is crying. I still go to concerts, I'm seeing a guitar legend on Tuesday. I just need to be by the stage for bands I love. That's not really possible at Aftershock with so many stages spread out. You don't have to be rude.
