I need to talk about why I'm quitting my cut. My mental health is something I've been ignoring for far too long and I need to figure out what's going on. This Wegovy and Mounjaro weight loss transformation can't be ALL about my physical health. I need to address the issues behind why I allowed myself to get to over 365lbs in the first place.

Yeah right!! Whoever said losing weight was easy is full of crap! It is the most difficult thing in the world for me. People that don’t have weight issues have NO idea. You should be proud of your weight loss and you should SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOP! You are an inspiration to me and others. Keep up the great work Mindy. Therapy is a good thing.❤❤

When you find out answers to your questions, please share! A lot of us have the same questions! I wonder where the food noise comes from as well… why are some troubled with the noise and others have no idea what I’m talking about! I have never ever loved my body… been ashamed most of my life… only overweight kid in the family growing up… I feel your pain! 🤗

This is how I'm feeling too. I've lost 120 lbs since 2019, on Mj for 19 months and stuck for the last 3 months battling old habits, food noise, and losing and gaining same 10 lb. When I slip, I get mad and am hard on myself, then take stock of how far I've come. I didn't gain up to 320 overnight and I'm not going to lose it overnight. Let's keep going and see where we end up. Don't give up and know I'm here for you Sister.

Oh, Mindy! So much to say here! First, I've followed lots of bodybuilding content over the years and I want to tell you, what you are experiencing is totally normal! Most people that get on stage start a cut somewhere around 16 weeks out and they will tell you it is TOUGH towards the end. They absolutely start obsessing over food and get fatigued in several different ways. Losing weight ISN'T easy beyond 20 or so pounds because our bodies don't like being in a caloric deficit. And that's okay! You're doing so well!

Your wonderful! Sharing your feelings and experience with others is very brave. I enjoy your attitude and your thoughtfulness in sharing everything. I found myself looking to you for help as I'm here in week 17, 43lbs down and yet very sad about how to continue with 100 more to go, you're honestly here was what I was looking for. Its not all rainbows but you have navigated through it and I can too. It is a journey, it is life going forward, it is not an overnight miracle. I had a bad week after my shot last week, sick with diarrhea, vomiting, stomach aches, fatigue... It was the worst since I started and scared me. I had to call off from work for 3 days and I contemplated going to emergency. I was suppose to have my shot yesterday and just couldn't do it, I thought I should wait a week, but then I ate carbs all day and I know the medicine is what stops that carb grazing, so today I lowered my dose from 12.5 compound Tirzepatide to 10.mg, because I don't think I need to go at that strong. Your a doll and I just wanted to let you know you help me!

This was an excellent video. Thanks for sharing and being vulnerable. This journey is not for the faint of heart. And it is not “easy”. This makes the point that wrap around care is so important. I wish each person who began on these meds also had access to a therapist, registered dietician, and personal trainer in addition to their medical provider. Because we need more than just one thing. And also when one thing begins to be fixed, other things pop up that were hidden by our bigger issues that are now being taken care of.

Girl, I have the same problem. I never comment on RU-vid, but I felt compelled to speak up. What you are going through is 100% normal. You do NOT have to be perfect. I’m seeing a therapist during my weight loss journey for body shame, anxiety caused by being imperfect, and the associated eating habits. My therapist has given me so many tools to deal with the struggles and is helping me to go back to what caused that feeling of shame for my body and being imperfect so she and I can make it no longer have power over me. It was terrifying to make the decision to see a therapist and even more terrifying for my first appointment. But it’s working. It’s hard work learning self compassion, but it’s worth it. You are courageous for talking about this emotional struggle when people write comments like that. Thank you so much for sharing, because many of us women over 40 with wild hormones and thyroids struggle. It’s not just you. As a side note, my therapist is having me read Brene Brown’s Gifts of Imperfection. She also has lots of RU-vid videos. They are very relevant.

It has been my experience that 12 weeks is a really big lift. It’s metabolically and mentally hard. There has been a lot of research to support that a 2:2 split is very effective, as in cut calories for two weeks, then eat at maintenance for two weeks. It leads to long term weight loss and a development of much healthier habits. I hope that helps. You’ve got this❤❤

I wish you the best. You look depressed. I suffered depression myself. I’ve been on Ozempic for seven months and have lost 48 pounds. I’m happy about that, but I’m not happy about the constipation battle I have. Since I have started that I’ve had severe constipation, I take 15 laxatives a day and most of the time they do not work, I’m always sluggish. My gut feels sometimes I wonder if it’s even worth it. I give you a high five and congratulate you. I’m happy that you’re taking it into your own hands. I wish you the best my prayers.

Swimming has helped my mental health tremendously. It's incredible, and after a year of 3x a week, I am starting to self-identify as an athlete, and I am so proud of myself. I'm at the point now where I say, "I am a swimmer," and not, "I swim". Reframing myself as I lose weight is so important. Start small. I started with walking in the water. I have progressed to swimming about 4 miles a week. I couldn't have made it this far without swimming.

I know this video is a few months old - I’ve watched and enjoyed more than a few of your videos since starting my own Wegovy journey which started 7 weeks ago. One thing I have picked up on about you is you are a “planner”. When you are unable to do what you planned, you feel like a failure bc hey - you had it all figured out when you planned it right? So you plan something else. The mental strain you put on yourself is HEAVY. I’ve never been pro therapy for myself so it’s weird I’m about to say this - I think therapy would benefit you as part of your health journey. You are incredibly strict on yourself and you should find out why, and also find ways to identify when you are turning all of that Mindy noise up. I’ve lost and gained all my life - my first formal diet was WW at age 10. My mom put me on it - she was small and petite and couldn’t handle having a heavy child. I’m 65 now, and have gone through many many many ways and moneyto lose weight - usually successful, but then I gain it back. I know why. Partly bc of that 10 year old voice in my head, and partly bc my body has the fat gene and doesn’t metabolize food properly. It’s an awful combination. I don’t have any answers for you dear Mindy. Except maybe learn to stop living in your “plans”. It will never be easy for us, but we CAN just keep on keepin on. 🩷

I see you. I hear you. I feel you. Know that it sometimes can take several therapy visits to find the right person that you feel comfortable with and you feel "gets" you, DO NOT GIVE UP. 💜🥰😘 You have struggled with depression and anxiety (sometimes debilitating) for a very long time, even prior to this journey. It makes sense that you would struggle in your weight loss journey, when your baseline isnt strong to begin with. I wish you wouldnt stop your cut during this tough time, though. You have done that before (several times), and it didnt turn out well. You had a big gain and it lead to even more depression and big back slides. Try to find some easier recipes that you can prepare for the week to make it easier for you to get through, while addressing your mental health. Ask your hubby or Nikki to help you with cleaning up the apt. It will not take long with 2-3 people doing it, and I promise, you will feel better if your surroundings arent in chaos. Im the same. I feel chaotic when my surroundings are in chaos. Ive also been on anxiety meds for years, which are a Godsend. But also know there is no "cure". Learning additional ways to deal with anxiety and depression, in addition to taking the meds that stabilize you, is key. Now the tough love/truth part: hearing food noise, maintaining willpower to say "no" and continuing with consistency, despite a rough patch, are all things that everyone has to learn, no matter what type of weight loss tool they use. It IS part of being/eating normal. Wegovy is your tool, but it is going to be your mind and soul that will have to maintain the weight loss long term, when you go off of it or when it completely stops working (and it will). Its the same for weight loss surgery. They operate on your stomach to help with the amount of food you can eat. But they dont operate on your brain to control the cravings for high calorie, slider foods that you can eat tons of, or to stop eating every 2 hours, which can lead to gaining all of your weight back. You have to use the first year to learn how to do it on your own, after which the side effects of weight loss surgery no longer help you lose weight. THOSE are also things that a therapist can help you with. Also to be confident in the fact that you CAN learn to control the cravings and head noise by yourself. Ultimately, that is the goal of weight loss tools after all. It is never going to be easy. It is hard. You have to pick your hard: being obese/unhealthy or losing weight and being healthy. It sux, but its the truth. Love and hugs from a very long term subbie, who really DOES care about you and your journey. Sorry for the book....lol

I appreciate the advice, Q, but the last 2 maintenance cycles I've done have been very successful. I know what's best for me, and continuing to add the stress of unsuccessful weight loss when I'm struggling with the desire to eat more isn't the answer any more than ignoring my mental health is. I haven't stopped meal prepping or meal planning and I've still been cooking and eating the meals I've prepared for myself but I'm still dealing with a constant desire to eat more but beating myself up because I'm supposed to be in a weight loss phase. I haven't gained any weight at this point but I'm also still not losing because I'm dealing with a constant desire to snack. I need to take a break and find some better coping mechanisms and come back to the weight loss in a couple weeks after I'm refreshed from not stressing about my weight for a little while.

Thank you so much for sharing, and putting up with obtuse trolls in the comments. You are so eloquent and engaged. Personally I think food noise is just our bodies trying to get us to eat. It’s a part of hunger. One of the most challenging things about being in a larger body is that it fights you so hard to stay large and even get larger. I did heal a lot of my relationship with food by learning intuitive eating but I also gained 40 lbs. Some would call that the necessary overshoot weight to heal the body from its semi-starvation state (from being on a diet for 40+ years) - and maybe that’s true. But that “healing” weight has caused me other problems, mental, emotional, and physical. In my opinion, the new class of weight loss drugs is pretty much the only answer to this problem. As someone with an autoimmune disease, I’ve become accustomed to the idea that my body does not always have its own best interests aligned with its processes. It never stops being frustrating, but you get used to it. I fully expect that to maintain weight loss I will have to be on some kind of drug the rest of my life. I love how determined you are to beat it, and I will continue to cheer you on wholeheartedly as you progress in your own life’s journey. 🌳❤️🌳 Edit to add: Also, a lot of the mental symptoms and weird behaviors we tend to all have track with semi-starvation symptoms. Check out the Minnesota Starvation Experiment.

I'll have to look into it. I don't expect food noise to go away... my concern is my complete lack of self-control or coping mechanisms at times. Sometimes I'm a total champ, and it's so easy... and then others I'm a total fridge troll wanting to eat everything in sight. Boredom is a MAJOR trigger for me and unfortunately, I'm quite a lazy person. I spoke about it in my session this last week and we briefly talked about ways to have down time that still engaged my brain so that I'm too preoccupied to listen to the voice telling me to eat.

I think you will benefit greatly by seeing someone. once you can get to the core reason of why you do certain things, you can start to make changes. I've never had an issue with food, but have suffered from depression and anxiety I've been working out for over 40 years and that is something that has helped me mentally just as much as physically.

Yes I agree so much with what you are saying, Yes if the men haven't experience what you said they should be quiet. I'm 64 year old, I've been strongly so so bad with my weight loss journey, I'm not on any weight loss medication I've only loss 70 lbs from July 2022 - now April 2024. I gain I lose, I gain I lose, I have many health issues, the hypothyroidism just makes it so hard, and last year I was diagnose with breast cancer but Praise God 🙏it was caught in time and my surgery and radiation was a success. When you said you heard the person say why do we want it now? that's me, because my doctor wants me to start the cancer preventive medication and be on it for 5 yrs. almost every doctor said it will make it 99% impossible to lose weight, and that have me so on edge and nervous, the thought of not getting this weight off and possible gaining back what I lost. So now I'm trying to get approve for the Mounjaro to help my appointment is Tuesday April 8 to see if my doctor will write it up in way to help me get approve because my insurance plan don't cover it, it covers Truly something for diabetes, but if not I will find another doctor that will. But I got to get the weight off now 😭

Hey Nellie, I'm so sorry to hear about the cancer, but what a huge praise that it was caught in time!! 🙌 Don't stress about the weight... your health is more than your weight, and you have time. When your body is trying to fight other things, it's going to want to hold on to the extra weight as a protection mechanism. Even just maintaining what you've already lost is a huge win! Take care of you! ❤️❤️

Such a great video. The mental health piece is so hard. Since working with a personal trainer, I have gained weight. So I’m hovering around 220 these days when I had an original goal of 190. I don’t know if I have it in me to do what it takes to lose the weight, because it takes heavy restriction for me (I can’t get access to GLP-1s), and with restriction always comes hunger and food noise. (And just fyi, my clothes are fitting tighter not looser so I think I’ve gained muscle without losing fat). However physically I feel so much better and that’s what I try to focus on, but I have bad body image days and when I have to buy a size up in clothing it’s SO hard. I had a lot of internalized fatphobia and negative self talk when I began working with a therapist a few years ago. It’s so worth the journey because I have much more peace now. Thank you for sharing what you do and helping all of us feel less alone!

Thanks so much for sharing, Lisa. Give it time and consistency... the lean muscle mass will help to increase your BMR, and you won't have to restrict so much to lose weight. I keep reminding all of you that consistency is key, but it never quite sinks in for myself. ❤️❤️

I have been at a plateau pretty much since January after loosing 105 pounds and have even gained 5 pounds :(. I’m up and down! And it’s frustrating but I know I haven’t eaten the best. I started exercising more regularly and walking and gained. 😢 anyway- hang in there! And yes there’s no rush! Do what’s best for you, your mental health and your body. It's so hard when you're trying to lose weight and then depression rears its ugly head, A physical therapist I go to has suggested to go have the hormonal testing done. That would check cortisol levels and such to find out if fatigue has a root in tired adrenals. Let me know if you know anything about this. Hang in there sister 💓

Hey Vicki, My PCP has been doing full hormone panels for over a year now every few months. We're keeping a close eye on all my markers because she wants to get a better idea of how both Wegovy and weight loss are affecting my overall health. It's been an incredibly informative process. I don't recall talking about my cortisol levels specifically, but I know those are constantly moving up and down based on environmental and emotional factors, too.

The fact that you recognize what is happening should be enough for you to realize you need therapy. But as you know therapy will do nothing if you don't want to get better. You are an adult start acting like an adult. I am so sick and tired of people on youtube complaining about their lives when only you can make it better. None of us people watching this shit show can help you and for those people who promote youtubers ongoing whining please stop.
@mindypweightloss

So... you tell me I'm doing well for recognizing that I need help and you know that I'm in the process of getting that help... and in the same breath, tell me to stop whining and get over it? Just because I have a RU-vid channel doesn't mean I'm not a human being. I created this channel so that other people going through the same process as I am wouldn't feel alone... so that they would know that there are other people out there who understand the struggle... and if you don't need that, that's fine... this channel isn't meant for you... so just move on instead of being rude and cruel.

My cousin who is male always tells me just stop eating and you'll lose weight. He tells me he eats 6 eggs and 1/2 avocado with a protein shake and he's done for the day. Well my body doesn't work that way. After 10 years if not losing a pound, I decided that in 2024 to start zepbound I'm down 20 lbs. I'm doing intermittent fasting too. When the food nose comes I speak out loud "you're not hungry, just drink water" and I repeat and repeat. Intermittent fasting and zepbound have helped me with control. Dates have helped me curb my sugar crazings. I'm not measuring myself against anyone else. It's just me and I'm taking it slow. I'm using Zepbound to help me change my lifestyle. With med shortages, I've decided to take the shot every other week on 5.0. Wish me luck!
