Detroit is a must visit. Fuck the media and fake news, Detroit isn't drugged or destroyed, its a mecca for art and young people. So much opportunity and positivity, it's contagious. Detroit is a must visit, you don't know unless you've been here. DETROIT VS EVERYBODY
I’m from Philly and I just recently visited Detroit for the second time and I really loved it. Detroit is an underdog city just like Philly and despite its bad rap it is still a very cool place to be. Good architecture, good food, interesting culture and music, great people, etc.
@@press4258 Just a soulful place bro I live in Asia & that spirit never leaves you,But ummmm I rather live in Asia hahahaha Jalen on some Caption Crunch shyt lol 🧢
He isn’t that young. If you all are so proud of it why does it stay in the top three for violent crime and number one for property crime. Why if I live in Oakland county but work in Detroit should I pay Detroit taxes. Why would I want to live in a place where I have to drive 20 minutes from my house just to find the closest convenience store that is still in a shitty area. More people are shot at on 96 in Detroit than any other freeway in the us. It’s cold, it’s poor, and it’s violent. The sports suck, the shopping sucks, and park at your own risk. But yeah I’m so proud of Detroit man. It’s such a beautiful place.
His grandma stayed right down the block from my best friend house. She was well respected and protected. Everyone knew that was Jalen Rose grandmother’s home. RIP.
😂 Before every Jalen and Jacoby show he always said What up Doe and put his hands up and brought them down I didn't get it until I seen a kid from Detroit get drafted to the NFL and he did the same thing on stage 😂😂😂😂😂😂I was crying, so I get it now.
Jalen Rose is one of the greatest representations of our culture from the period I grew up in. You can be no more authentic than him and he’s class personified. Cultural icon, social activist, living legend. 💯👏🏾💪🏾
I had relatives who lived in Detroit and absolutely love it. So much to do in this city from the activities to food. And, the people have met, total strangers, are so kind. It is indeed a special place ❤
I left The D 29 years ago for Manhattan. I have now lived more years in NY than Detroit, but I still think I’m a Detroiter, even though I’ve yet to go back. The love for Detroit and all you went through as a kid never leaves.
I left the D 22 years ago , I’m in Brooklyn but I always cheer for the Pistons Tigers Red Wings and Lions. I’d feel like a dirty whore cheering for NY teams
There are a million places like East side Detroit or New Orleans. There is only one city in America that is totally unique, all powerful, world reknowned and has literally everything. Like it or not. And that is New York City. I’ve been all over the country And there is really nothing close. Maybe Chicago but not really. The most overrated city in the nation is LA. By far. SF was fantastic but no more. Boston is a nice city. There are two cities on earth ranked at the alpha top and those are NYC and London.
@@michaelcavallacci2945 there is no place in this country like east side Detroit. Have you been? You’re talking about NYC as “world renowned”, for the exact reasons why Jalen’s saying he won’t leave here. He’s talking about Detroit cuz of the hood he grew up in. He’s not looking for sights to see like Times Square, that’s the whole point
@@tristanwaechter4450 I’ve been to the east side of Detroit. I mean no disrespect but it was a half empty, dumpy looking area with small private homes, many abandoned or run down. Went to the Eastern market- no big deal. There was literally nothing interesting or appealing about the place. It was abandoned and depressing. NYC is ten times the size of Detroit, with hundreds of ethnic neighborhoods of all kinds. With peoples and cultures from all Over the world. I’m not talking about Times Square. There is zero comparison between Detroit and NY. NY is the capital of the world. Detroit is a bombed out half a city unfortunately .....I know it was once a mighty place. Again I mean no disrespect but let’s be realistic.
I’m born and raised in Detroit but as I got older the cold weather was too much. But I love my city. You can take the girl out of Detroit but you can never take the Detroit out of the girl.😊
Shout to my man Jalen. Born and raised in the D, went to Pershing stayed in the hood till I was 30. But F that, I moved to AZ so my daughter ain't have to have it like we had it.
Bing was a piece of shit puppet for outsiders. Jalen would NOT be on some Dave Bing shit he would be a REAL Mayor for Detroit. On some Jalen Rose True Detroiter Love shit
This hits deep for me 🤦🏾♂️. I moved to Texas 5 years ago cause things wasn’t going rite for me, I needed a change of scenery. Now I got my $ up a lil bit I feel it’s time to come back. Dallas Texas is beautiful but it’s not Detroit! I just had to get up out the hood frfr. Now it’s time for my return but won’t stay in the hood this time round.
I moved out of Detroit for the same reason as you bro. I needed a change of scenery. I’ve been living in Tyler Texas for 3 years so far and I’m ready to make my return
As a chicagoan I totally respect the love detroiters have for their city. My time spent a weekend in tha D was a memorable time last year. So glad Detroit is being reinvested in. No love for the Bad Boys but the city was good to me. 😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🙏
@@thinkforyourself828 it's just a Detroit saying, something like WHAT UP DOE ! You have to be from there to understand we don't mean it literally fool.
@@thinkforyourself828 it exists because Detroit's name has been associated with ruin, and that sucks. We are more than that, and those people need to know the truth. DETROIT VS EVERYBODY
Every time I get a chance to see and listen to Jalen I’m more impressed and proud of him regardless of the success and fame he still appears to be a good dude, one you can point to and say when you make it please continual to grow mentally, intellectually but stay true to who you are God Bless You Sir pray for much more success in all you do👏🏼🙏🏼
That’s wassup but ya gotta admit upward economic mobility is hard to come by in the D...props to those who come back after finding success and help pulling the next man up
My ex family is from Detroit. They moved when she was 12. She actually said she was sad to have leave because she had alot of close friends but as she got older, she would go back to visit her family and said she would never move back. Just visit. God rest her soul. Love you ladybug 💛
I try to tell people all the time about how Detroit is a beautiful place with magic in the air. But they never believe me until they get come visit and see for themselves Detroit has a tangible energy that’s unmatched by any other place on earth.
I love you J... played against you in high school. We Fam ... but I've moved 4 times and I do return back to Detroit. You gotta experience lyfe and meet new people. I'm in the D presently but I'm leaving again soon. I'll probably return but you can't imo never leave....
Your jersey used to hang in the bar my mom worked in. I watched you in college and NBA. I always felt your connection and support. I didn't stay but my travels are taking me back. #fullcircle
Left a D for the army in 1977 spent a career in different cities different states different countries. Always rocked my old English D when it came time to come home from the road only one thing and one place Detroit. 313 4Ever
I'm good and I'm from black bottom, went to Campbell elementary, Knudsen Jr high, and Kettering high school in the heart of the city and I can't stand it here, I can't wait to leave #facts
@@sunii4264 I feel good anywhere I go, it's all how you carry yourself...the hood doesn't bother me and I'm white...honestly living with my own kind bothers me more ironically lol
The people there are phenomenal. I miss them very much. And when I say people, I mean the entire groups of people. Black community, Hamtramck, Arab community, Oak Park’s Jewish community, Canton’s India community, Corktown’s Mexican and yuppie community. Home is where the heart is I guess.
@@mbwell oh yeah you really from ouchea you named Hamtramck with the Arabs 😂😂😂 bruh the city is a lovely place people think it’s so crazy but the gangstas in here respect you and demand their respect as long as you’re respectful here you’ll feel loved
@@MisterFridayOMG Maybe she told you to be nice to people, not to run in the house, speak the truth, not be a smartass, things of that nature? Those are good things, and mothers and grandmothers tell you those things because they love you. I myself dont give a fuck whether you run against a table, or if you decide to be a smartass.
Moved out of St.Louis in 01 to Northern California….Lived here most of my life now but St.Louis will always be home…I miss the Midwest in the spring and early summertime !!
I love you Jalen, I love Detroit til death buy I saw too many close friends killed. I saw my best friend killed. I saw somebody shot in the head for the first time on my first day of high school (Cooley High). Moved to Nor Cal in 09 Maybe I'm not a real detroiter anymore but hey, Detroit was named by a white man and 100 years ago it was basically all white. In 200 years who knows what it will be. Sometimes keeping it real equals short lifespan.
Love you Fam! I use to do plumbing work for your Uncle when you were playing for U of M! He was so proud of you! I wish you would talk about him a little more. Love him, miss him... ❤️ 💯
🤔 People don't understand that Detroit unlike any other city in the country has a spirit about it that you just can't understand unless you live there, or you know somebody that's from there. it's just a different thing altogether. From Eminem to the Pops from Friday to Aaliyah to the GREAT Malcolm X (🤲) and many many others. Detroit is just a real spiritual deep place.
@@wmw3629 I remember him as a Pacer. I used to say, "he's out there playing like a grown man". We've never met but there's something about him that smacks of pure authenticity. His writing. His speaking. His ballplaying. I think he's got substance.
