I’m from Philly and I just recently visited Detroit for the second time and I really loved it. Detroit is an underdog city just like Philly and despite its bad rap it is still a very cool place to be. Good architecture, good food, interesting culture and music, great people, etc.
He isn’t that young. If you all are so proud of it why does it stay in the top three for violent crime and number one for property crime. Why if I live in Oakland county but work in Detroit should I pay Detroit taxes. Why would I want to live in a place where I have to drive 20 minutes from my house just to find the closest convenience store that is still in a shitty area. More people are shot at on 96 in Detroit than any other freeway in the us. It’s cold, it’s poor, and it’s violent. The sports suck, the shopping sucks, and park at your own risk. But yeah I’m so proud of Detroit man. It’s such a beautiful place.

I had relatives who lived in Detroit and absolutely love it. So much to do in this city from the activities to food. And, the people have met, total strangers, are so kind. It is indeed a special place ❤

I left The D 29 years ago for Manhattan. I have now lived more years in NY than Detroit, but I still think I’m a Detroiter, even though I’ve yet to go back. The love for Detroit and all you went through as a kid never leaves.

There are a million places like East side Detroit or New Orleans. There is only one city in America that is totally unique, all powerful, world reknowned and has literally everything. Like it or not. And that is New York City. I’ve been all over the country And there is really nothing close. Maybe Chicago but not really. The most overrated city in the nation is LA. By far. SF was fantastic but no more. Boston is a nice city. There are two cities on earth ranked at the alpha top and those are NYC and London.

Went to the Eastern market- no big deal. There was literally nothing interesting or appealing about the place. It was abandoned and depressing. NYC is ten times the size of Detroit, with hundreds of ethnic neighborhoods of all kinds. With peoples and cultures from all Over the world. I’m not talking about Times Square. There is zero comparison between Detroit and NY. NY is the capital of the world. Detroit is a bombed out half a city unfortunately .....I know it was once a mighty place. My ex family is from Detroit. They moved when she was 12. She actually said she was sad to have leave because she had alot of close friends but as she got older, she would go back to visit her family and said she would never move back. Just visit. God rest her soul. Love you ladybug 💛

As a chicagoan I totally respect the love detroiters have for their city. My time spent a weekend in tha D was a memorable time last year. So glad Detroit is being reinvested in. No love for the Bad Boys but the city was good to me. 😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🙏
I try to tell people all the time about how Detroit is a beautiful place with magic in the air. But they never believe me until they get come visit and see for themselves Detroit has a tangible energy that’s unmatched by any other place on earth.

The people there are phenomenal. I miss them very much. And when I say people, I mean the entire groups of people. Black community, Hamtramck, Arab community, Oak Park’s Jewish community, Canton’s India community, Corktown’s Mexican and yuppie community. Home is where the heart is I guess.

🤔 People don't understand that Detroit unlike any other city in the country has a spirit about it that you just can't understand unless you live there, or you know somebody that's from there. it's just a different thing altogether. From Eminem to the Pops from Friday to Aaliyah to the GREAT Malcolm X (🤲) and many many others. Detroit is just a real spiritual deep place.
Moved out of St.Louis in 01 to Northern California….Lived here most of my life now but St.Louis will always be home…I miss the Midwest in the spring and early summertime !!
