@@2013faiasl hmmm compared to other things we’ve come up with great doesn’t seem the right comparison, effective, precise, deadly, efficient seem better alternative, however yeah you’re right, we also shortened the pointy stick so we waste less materials lol
My DM uses a lot of high dex villains, so sacred flame isn't even worth it for me anymore, I'm tired of doing 0 damage on a turn. I just turn on spirit guardians and Kamehameha those mother fuckers with guiding bolt.
Meanwhile... warlock that's been hiding in the shadow of the rogue that's been hiding in the shadow of that paladin... Warlock: alright... I'm calling in a portal, Cthulhu get me out of here!
Cleric: "Fuck it, rogue, we're doing holy training." Rogue: "Nooooooo-" *And thus, the rogue multiclassed into a Rogue Paladin, who now smites with his attacks!*
My rogue had an oathbow and a potion of giant size. The potion says that you use 3 times the normal die, but doesn't specify what that means. I did 240 damage at level 15.
Big damage doesn’t matter at level 15. A wizard could clone whatever you’re dighting and make it fight itself. A cleric could literally poof any enemy to whatever plane it hates the most. A bard could sing a song and make a crowd of foes charge off a cliff. Funny that you’re bragging about exploiting RAW in a way that you clearly know was unintended, aka doing your level best to spoil everyone else’s game and just so you can roll a bigger number at a level where that hardly matters anymore.
I have a similar situation but without the potion. I was a thief rogue and I got blinding but was next to a wall so I follow this I got within 10 ft of the dragon. Because I had blindsight, I could see again. Got a crit. ~100 or so piercing damage, I killed it
My players got to one of the last really big boss fights of their campaign (they’re level 16). He got 5 crits on his attacks 5 rounds in a row. Dealt around 700 damage alone. Truly unfortunate for the boss
I just wanna say that I'm going yo make Beef's face at the end my new screensafer.....it's just something about that way too proud look in his eyes that gets me
UmM aCtUaLlY eldritch smite is once per turn so it can't be on both attacks.... "Fine then I use my whispers bard psychic blades on one of the attacks"
@@adamkaris look man as far as I’m concerned eldritch smite is per attack because I don’t wanna force players to multiclass to get something they can basically already do People do this all the time Like sorcerer/paladins it says in the divine smite description that you use a paladin spell slot I also think you can smite with your hand because an unarmed strike is a weapon attack for stunning strike so it should be for smite as well We need consistency with this stuff
@@thisstatementisfalsenothin5312 UMH AKSHUALLY that’s not how multi class works. You don’t have different spell slots for every class you have an overall level in spellcasting: full caster ( wizard/ cleric) level is 1 level and half caster (paladin/ranger) is 1/2( rounded down) level. For example 2 levels in cleric and 2 levels in paladin makes you a 3rd level spellcaster and you can use the slots you have as a 3rd level spellcaster to use divine smite
@@thisstatementisfalsenothin5312 you can’t use ninth level spell but you have a 9th level spell slot as a 20th level spell caster so you can cast lower level spells at ninth level
Personally I prefer to turn into a really big cobra. When I'm not a cobra I like to go the slap and stab method , first slap the enemy in the face , and then stab them. It's very effective
No. Monk is terrible. It has terrible damage (needing to use extremely limited resources just to do the kind of damage other melee classes do for free), defence (a Rogue or Fighter can get as much AC at level 1 as a Monk will likely have at level 20, and a d8 hit die isn't enough for a frontliner), and control (Stunning Strike's save DC is so low it's unlikely to work even if you use it on every attack in a Flurry of Blows, which is expensive AF) and has decent mobility but nothing of value to use that mobility on. Most Monk subclass abilities use even more ki to do no more damage than the base Monk, most egregiously Four Elements, Astral Self, and Sun Soul. The Mercy Monk is the only subclass that's not trash, and it's still not great compared to literally any other class. And all these problems with the Monk carry over to any multiclass option, pretty much inevitably weakening the character, and especially tending to introduce problems with dealing damage. If you want more stabs, multiclass Fighter.
@@deinnydoes5356 While in general you might have a point (I could debate the effect of trap options on the game in general, but that would be a tangent), what you're missing here is the fundamental context of this discussion, which is combat optimization. The Rogue is playing a Rogue because what they care about is dealing lots of damage. They don't care about how that damage is delivered as long as they get to roll big numbers; this is literally and explicitly the deciding factor of the player's choice, and therefore combat and combat power is a central part of the game to this player. Adding Monk to the equation at any point is pretty much guaranteed to make the Rogue worse at rolling those big numbers, and is therefore objectively bad advice that should be criticized.
@@watcher314159 bruh. You are one of the reasons people don't get into dnd. Some people just want to play things interesting, not in the most efficient combat way. Maybe a monk rogue seemed interesting. I've literally had people play orc thieves because they thought it was funny. It's called a game for a reason not a life or death situation.
@@hiimannoying8524 Some people. Many people. Me most of the time (I'd honestly prefer more games without any violence at all). But not the Rogue player in the video. Very explicitly not. And that's the important thing in this particular situation.
@@LaBrokenOne ok so at fourth level I basically always had advantage. I took the magic initiate feat with the Find Familiar spell. Familiars count as allies and from the Pack Tactics kobold ability, I get advantage when an ally was within 5 feet of me.
Everybody: doing like 15-20 damage per turn The rogue: so if I versatile my weapon, it adds an extra +5 to dmg, plus my poison, plus my enchants, plus my strong attack, plus my enchanted ring gives me more damage on these attacks, plus my dueling fighting style, all this x2 because of sneak attack, then take that and 2x because of crit. I do 143 damage. Also rogue when the enemy sees them: the best I can do is 8
Rogue: "Ok so I'm not in combat yet, and I get an instant crit and almost 100% accuracy with 4d6 extra sneak attack damage (: DM: *regrets life choices*
Murdering someone with a 4” pointy stick is really easy when you have the ability to add 100d4 to the attack while your friends take 7 attacks for you to get into position
I have a trick used by only wizards and sorcerers and it's the best. Reach level 3 and get the spell known as "explosive runes." Now, buy some parchment, roll it up like a scroll, and label it "treasure map." Make sure not to tell anyone else except the DM and make sure they keep it a secret. Then, use explosive runes on the parchment. Now,whenever anyone or anything who isn't you tries to read it, the parchment will explode for 6d6 damage. The spell lasts forever and only you can remove it. The only downside is that it only works on items under 10 pounds but that can be worked around... Also, I primarily play wizards because, why get close to something just to do a bit of damage when you can choose between a bunch of actions from a distance. My spells of choice are "Magic missile" and "Burning hands." Sometjing really far away? Hit it with magic missile. It'll be dead before you know it. Getting a little too close for comfort? BURNING HANDS! Plus, it means I can fill my cantrips with random BS and funny illusion magic like Minor illusion and Prestidigitation.
If you watch TeamFourStar, their rogue threw a bunch of ball bearings and impaled a zombie cleric on his own sword, and sunk the ship he was on, just from half a bag of ball bearings. Some of the funniest shit I've ever seen
I remember as a rouge my party and I were out hunting goblins. And I’d gone scouting ahead, found an encampment of like 7 goblins. The rest of my party showed up a few minutes later and find me chilling in the camp surrounded by dead goblins.
My brain just instantly goes straight to Vax'ildan from Critical Role. There was once a count of how many NPCs that didn't have to be created because they were 1 shot from him
Flash forward to lvl 20 and the cleric's God is carrying the wizard's infinite simulacrum clones into battle on it's back while the man with the pointy metal stick looks on in horror.
