The best way for someone to transition off steroids is to focus on what is healthier for their body. If they revert to their old physique, people might comment on their past steroid use and their current size. Having lifted since I was 12, I can usually tell when someone has used steroids. There's nothing inherently wrong with it; it's just a fact.

Not too long after you added back carbs, I had to go back to carnivore for serious health reasons. You are clearly doing better with your goals with the addition of carbs and I am doing way better with mine with their removal and it was great to see your objective approach. I feel like a lot of people are far too polarised on the carnivore diet. It is neither panacea nor scam, it's not for everyone but it could be for anyone. Hey, I'm Jonathan Griffiths, a 29-year-old with a BSc in Human Nutrition from Bournemouth, Dorset. My journey as an amateur bodybuilder has been unique due to a fused spine from a rugby injury at 14 and my Autism. Despite these hurdles, I've found incredible success on the carnivore diet over the past four years, after other pain relief methods failed. I have since competed twice as a carnivore bodybuilder, with my recent showing on June 2nd 2024 where I placed first against an extremely competitive line-up. I am going to the British finals to try and earn my pro card in the open category in classic bodybuilding, as a disabled athlete. Meanwhile, I have had my spine fused in 2022, and various procedures to try and reduce the pain I am in. I am currently primarily a body composition coach in the carnivore community and have helped hundreds of people to reach their goals. The carnivore diet is my only option to try and thrive, and I love it! My diet mainly includes beef, salmon, chicken, eggs, cheese, milk, and butter. I avoid fruits, veggies, grains, nuts, seeds, oils, and sugars. I drink water, coffee, and bone broth. No calorie counting here, just focusing on around 350 grams of protein and fat each day for the past 4.5 years. In the beginning, I lost 5 pounds and felt a surge in energy, focus, and calmness. I woke up refreshed, with no cravings or GI issues. My workouts stayed strong, with better muscle pumps, vascularity, and faster recovery. The diet eased the pain and stiffness in my spine, giving me more freedom and comfort. It reduced my need for medications and improved my autism-related symptoms, like anxiety and mood swings. My social skills and communication also got better. Blood tests before and after the diet showed my liver and kidney damage from a virus had healed. My blood markers such as liver and kidney functions were normal, with no nutrient deficiencies or hormonal issues. This diet has been eye-opening, challenging many common dietary beliefs. I've learned that meat is highly nutritious and satisfying, and plants aren't essential or particularly beneficial for me. This is especially relevant given the genetic and metabolic traits seen in people with autism. I've stuck to the carnivore diet, with occasional treats like 'Hot Pot' and Korean BBQ, which I can cook myself at restaurants. On my RU-vid channel 'Carnivore Muscle,' I share my carnivore lifestyle, training tips, nutritional advice, and recipes, building a community of fellow carnivores and inspiring others to try this way of life. I fully recommend the carnivore diet to anyone looking to improve their health, fitness, and well-being, especially fellow bodybuilders and those with spinal conditions or autism. In my view, it's the best way to enhance both body and mind. 💪🥩🚀

Lots of people on the carnivore diet do dairy which still has some, plus any excess protein you eat is converted to glucose via gluconeogenesis - this is fine though as your body does need a little glucose (you just don't need to consume it in your diet), and a small insulin bump is beneficial for retaining electrolytes. We actually don't need to be dogmatic with it either, you can get a lot of the health benefits by mostly eating meat, but outside some people with severe autoimmune issues many people do ok sometimes having some non-meat products. Even nitrogen isotope testing shows humans and hominids were about 90% carnivorous over the last few million years.
@DutchCarnivore
@DutchCarnivore Месяц назад
It's not zero carb, although I understand why people call it zero carb from a practical perspective. There are carbs in eggs, even more so on liver. I can tell you as a type 1 diabetic, after eating liver I even take _fast acting_ insulin. Ketogenic would be a better classification, but even that one has its pitfalls, because typically you go out of ketosis after a large protein rich meal (possibly more so than on a ketogenic diet).

It took me a year to adjust to carniovore. During the adaptation, I noticed that when I ate vegetables and animal-based foods at different meals, they digested well. The theory of combining foods also supports this. It's not natural to eat everything mixed up in one meal. Meat melts in acid and carbohydrates increase the alkalinity of the stomach if they are eaten at the same meal. Then the food does not have time to digest completely. For this reason, some meat food can rot inside us and undigested vegetables also end up in the drain. The theory of combining foods was studied at Harvard University in the 70s by Harvey Diamond, Professor of Nutrition.
@aussiecath
@aussiecath 4 дня назад
Obviously there are other theories in the comment section but his explanation makes sense. I definitely have found that carbohydrates are a lot easier to use to pack in calories. Protein and fat is very satiating. Therefore if you want to maximise weight gain carbs make sense. I generally focus on health and fitness these days but I have contemplated that issue and speculated that carbs might be an advantage for rapid weight gain.

Exactly correct what you're saying about Carnivore! I've only been doing it a week, I've lost 7lb, I reckon could have lost more but fell off the wagon a couple of times as found it very monotonous & I skipped on meals so I was quite hungry & therefore snacked!! It is really easy but I've had a cooked breakfast every morning, skipped lunch as still full & sometimes evening, well I'd say most evenings & therefore just having one meal a day ....... I was allowing myself tinned tomatoes with the breakfast & I was going to allow some veg with other meals but had cut out breads, pasta, rice, potatoes & pastries so there was a balance but I just hadn't got round to eating evening meals, just one night actually where I had meatballs & a tin of tomato sauce again ........ Boring!! I'm thinking of allowing pasta & rice again but haven't decided yet?! I still have alot of weight too loose, I'm 16.5 stone which is about 230lb & 5 foot 11, im 52 years old ........

People raking him over the coals and spamming how good the carnivore diet is. Yes I am glad you lost 100 lbs but have you tried increasing weight while at 6 to 10% body fat? Are you even close to sub 10% body fat? Because if he is sub 10%, it is very difficult for him to increase his caloric intake and increase weight just from meat alone. And 240 grams of protein and 240 grams of fat within 1 day is freaking insane as it is. Heck the most optimal protein is literally 0.7 lbs to 1 lb of body weight. So a 200 lb person would only need 140 grams of protein, he is literally eating 100 grams more on top of that with the fats too. Heck even 0.7 is erring on the side of caution as you only need 1 gram of protein per 1 gram of LEAN body mass.

I’ve seemed to have settled at this weight, not losing anymore but I cannot gain a pound. The thing about carnivore, you can’t over eat like on the SAD diet. I at least want to get back to 150lbs, any suggestions ??? Best of health to everyone out there.

Super helpful for me personally as I am still working on optimizing my own diet. On a side note, your face is not super round at all! It looks like you're using a relatively wide angle lens (judging by the very squat shaped door behind you), that is making your head look wider than it actually is. Try playing around with lenses with different focal lengths to dial in the field of view that best suits your content. Keep up the awesome work!

Italian foods: It depends on what type of Italian foods you are referring to. There are also the typical Mediterranean Italian foods. Fish, Meat, Vegetables, Salads. Moderate amounts of bread (the old white, unsalted, flavorless bread). Some or moderate amounts of Pasta. Why only some Pasta? Because in Italy Pasta is a precursor or side dish only, not the main dish. No Pizza, please, eh. I'm not sure but I believe Pizza wasn't standard, and today's Pizzas are just topped up calorie bombs. This way it didn't exist in the early days. So, that's the classical Italian, Mediterranean food. What about sweets in the morning. Today Italians often eat (a lot) of sweats in the morning. Additionally, if done wrong: Lot of Pasta, Pizza, sweets, etc. This is a modern wrong way.

I mostly live from a low carb diet (not zero, low) or the caveman diet. Vegetables, Salads, Fish, Meat, and Dairy, Eggs, sometimes some carbs from starch like potatoes, rice or even bread. I never did a pure carnivore diet. Maybe I'm going to try this, too. And just a side note, bread is not bread. Industrial produced breads are a detriment to health. The doughs get proven and baken only for short time and contain a lot of also artificially added gluten. I do quite a lot of sports, mostly endurance sports. I train for Triathlon, but also do general fitness, weightlifting etc. My experience is this. The low carb approach is something that fits very good to my preferences and gives me satisfaction and I believe, good health. But there is a caveat. For endurance sports I need carbs, especially if I want to perform high. Without carbs I lose power after 1 or latest 2 hours of endurance quite abruptly. Maybe this happens because I never switched to pure protein, fat diet and my body never switched to pure fat adoption (energy from fats to glucose). Or it may also be that the carnivorous diet in general never is able to give power over hours of endurance. I'm just speculating because I don't really know. Also, because I still (have to) eat fast carbs for endurance sports, even if I do lean on a proper Caveman diet, I often get cravings for carbs, after I do the proper caveman diet over more than 3 days, especially for sweets. It's crazy how strong the cravings can be. There was a time, before Triathlon, when I didn't eat any wheat products and sweets at all. When I walked past all the foods in the supermarkets, I didn't see them anymore. It just didn't exist for me and I didn't have cravings for it. So, I say, in general it's just best to cut all the modern and unhealthy food types for health and longevity. But to achieve special results, like more body mass or more endurance, it's a different thing.

Increased muscle mass is easily achieved on an animal base diet. I do powerlifting in my country, and quite successfully. I eat beef, egg yolks are the basis of the diet. I eat egg yolks raw. And I eat beef either fried steak blue or frozen and cut it on a slicer and eat it as carpaccio. Some superfoods: sea fish liver/ikra, ox heart - to cover vitamins and minerals. I consume it raw in thin slices too. I also make a rich broth from ox hooves, joints, tails. And definitely a soufflé of boiled pig skin. It's very important for the development of cheeks. As an anabolic I use Greek yoghurt as a high insulin index product, drink it after a workout before a meal. And at the end of each meal I have some chilled berries for dessert.
