And your point being? Are you still seeking validation by posting this video? You do realise that you can not escape ego. To desire to eliminate ego is again moving from a place of ego. Thus the (solution) way is the middle path. Everything in it's right proportion (balance). Ego is a function a tool of your psyche. Learn to use it well and it will be a great servant. Worship it and become the most tyrannical master ever known.

Food for thought: You look back now at when you were 20 and started your channel and find it laughable how little awareness you had back then. Maybe in a few years time, you will look back at this video with the same mindset. This kind of thing happens over and over again. Somebody gains a little more awareness, realizes how limited their perspective was before and how "wrong" and misguided their worldview was. They then preach to everybody their new and better way, which is obviously the right way of looking at things from their current perspective. All the while, they are not realizing that, while their perspective is wider than before, it is still limited. If you continue on your path, your worldview is going to keep changing. Just because you had a revelation, does not make it the ultimate wisdom in the universe.

I was thinking about that yesterday. I deleted all my watch later playlist after realising how pointless 99.9% of the content is, even apparently good videos doesn't make sense to me anymore. All this personal development is endless and I got myself in a self-help loop that leads only to more and more consuming. If you're try to be complete, you're not complete. By that same token the RU-vid and content revolution is transforming education and entertainment in unprecedented ways. Quitting RU-vid isn't the solution. It's making better content. I don't know you and never will. This video has so many problems with it, but I don't want to explain those as they distract from the source. You are struggling right now and have been for several years, its the reason you left youtube and also the reason you came back. So stop focusing on other people, stop trying to force yourself to live according to some naive 8 year olds unattainable expectations. Do not believe the fables you tell yourself. I hope one day you look back at this video and are embarrassed and can laugh about it, because that means you have grown as a person and are in a better place. Motivation is useless, be the person who does not need it because you have purpose. Purpose comes from meaningful responsibilities. There is no secret to life, honestly no one understands it. So stop listening to other people preach their motivational buillshit and start doing and self teaching yourself based off of your experiences. If you do not know your purpose then help someone who is important to you accomplish theirs until you find your own. If there is no one important in your life, then get a pet and do what is best for it. This will not always be what it wants. Now you have a reason to go to work to wake up, something depends on you. Learn from this experience and you can start doing what is best for you (this will definitely not be what you want but you have something that depends on you and a reason to make your life better because it will make the pets life better.) I used to think the WHY was the most important thing in life and the WHAT and the HOW did not matter until you had a WHY. So I became paralyzed and did nothing hoping the WHY would magically manifest itself. It never did and never will. The most important thing is DOING. The WHY does not exist until you create it. You create it by doing. WHAT you do every day becomes you. The HOW is the measuring the result of WHAT you do. It is normally terrible at first but will improve itself through experience and skill you learn from doing. I wrote this in the same style as a book I read. It overvalued the importance of WHY and the author made a lot of money selling the idea of it. But other people's ideas will not help you in life. Its like copying someone else's test, they might be right and you get a good grade but you did not learn anything. The score becomes meaningless and isn't that the whole reason we are here? Learn by analyzing yourself not by mimicking others. If you want to be good at a game you should watch your own replays not the experts, if you want to be rich you should look at your own financial decisions and not others. Some videos that really helped me start doing over talking, complaining, and dreaming. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NI_tyAduoJo.html&list=PLhSGPESbRzexf7AcX9pNRtp2SIWqvfAp8&index=5 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PE0u7-SX2hs.html&list=PLhSGPESbRzexf7AcX9pNRtp2SIWqvfAp8&index=3 Another good one that I believe FightMediocrity would take alot from is Terry Crews speech on becoming your wins/losses. I couldn't find the exact part and have already spent too much time on this. I want to say I hope you get better and things work out, but the truth is I don't care. So start caring about yourself, you are the only one responsible for your own happiness. I am never anxious about speaking and the only reason you are is because you overvalue others opinions (granted this is probably easy to develop when you made a lot of money from public opinion aka youtube videos). I took the time to type this because your old videos helped me to start doing, aka reading which helped me start taking responsibility and improving my life.

@onewithlife-meditationmind2626
This is one of your best videos. Thank you for making it! I know exactly where you are coming from. All of my goals used to be materialistic BUT if you asked me what was important in life, I'd give the standard token response "my family, health, and helping others". Yet all my goals were "I want a black BMW", "I want to make 6 figures a year" "I want to be a "C level executive" etc. I spent 3 years and thousands of hours studying to get and MBA and an accounting designations (CPA) so I could make a lot of money and achieve these goals. I was well on my way to having all those these things then just like you, I realized that I was full of shit. I wasn't living to my values. I was really just chasing ego and status. I wanted others to think I was successful. After this realization, I did the old man test which is...if I was an old man looking back on my life on my last day, what would I be proud of? how would I spend my time? what would I do? I quit my high income corporate job and now work at a not for profit. I love the work that I do now (everyone around me thought I was nuts for quitting my corporate job btw). Now I volunteer more, I donate more. I eat better, sleep better, and feel better than I ever have in my life. I no longer buy stupid shit that I don't need. I no longer compare myself to others. ALL of my relationships are all better especially the one I have with myself. There is a great moment of clarity when you realize that you no longer give a fuck about what anyone else thinks of you and you are REALLY living on your own terms.

Ironically I found this to be pathetic. It's hard to describe, but I get a nihilistic vibe from this video. "Ambition is ultimately bound to ego, ego is pathetic, hence ambition is undesirable/wrong/bad" is what I understand, and I might be wrong in my interpretation. Why is ego such a bad thing to you? I'd argue that everything we have today, has been built from a source of ego. If ego motivates innovation, shouldn't we all strive to be at least a little bit egoistical? Even laws of physics and math theorems have been discovered by people who were driven by ego. For instance Robert Hooke and Isaac Newton disliked each other and were pretty much competing for the privilege of discovering new physics laws and math theorems and getting credit for it. Math theorems are often called after their discoverer, and not something that describes it. Why? Ego. No monk has ever come up with a math theorem or built a space ship. If you think your old videos were pathetic and specifically that the review of "How to Win Friends and Influence People" was cringy - just know that it influenced both me and my brother in a way that lead to good jobs.

The ego, in the pscho-analytical definition, is an individuals identity - the self. Logically speaking, you cannot remove your "self" from anything you do, thus you cannot remove your "ego" from the equation. Even the monks who attempt to still incorporate the ego in the act because it was a decision with a desire attached. Makes more sense to incorporate the ego and put the ego in its proper place by checking it with realism and objectivity.

There is not really anything good or bad. Being successful basically means you aquire as many ressources/power as you possibly can. This is great for you but because ressources are finite, other people get less. With success comes competition and stress and usually all while it divides the rich from the poor more and more while destroying the planet as a side effect. You see I can think very superficially too but there should be no objective reason for anything to be right or wrong.

Welcome back... Value is generally defined by the recipient and not the person doing the giving. When people responded with likes and comments, it's because what ever you uploaded to RU-vid was deemed valuable by them. Otherwise, they would have gone elsewhere. You amassed almost 1 million subscribers because that many people and more valued what toy produced and helped. Everyone has semblance of delusion but what is the difference between delusion and hope? You can see those who are primarily delusional versus those who are hopeful. In many cases, the environment, people etc can help calibrate a person's perception of that.

@Sarah_Berube
@Sarah_Berube 5 лет назад
@@crazyforcs , what is meaning, anyway? If you want to talk logic, then the statement "there is no meaning" has no meaning. Meaning is a quality that we give to things. If you give something meaning, then it has meaning, at least to you. Humans have been giving meaning to things for thousands of years. You live in a world that is saturated with meaning. You can understand what I'm saying because you know the meaning of every one of these words. It's not about what things mean. It's about what people mean by them. You have unlimited freedom with your meaning. You can use the meanings that society has provided for you, or you can make your own. Either way, it's what you want it to be. The worst trap to fall into is needing your life to mean something to someone else in order for it to mean anything at all to you. Just be careful of that.

There are many goods things to do with money like open good organizations to make impact and make a change in OTHER PEOPLE'S life... Again you are not the main focus here, you can become a flow of good deeds. If it's happen that on the way you also enjoy life and drive nice car, living in a nice house, and having nice family, social life it's just the bonus of the good work you have to bring light to this world. Balance is the key here. Not been like a monk in the mountains that have nothing and possibly affect no one and also not like these materials greedy ppl who worship money and pleasure. @The Flaneur let's put things in a simple way. You can do book summary that help other people in their life and make money on the way. If these books affect people to become better version of them self and improve society it's not important if the person who created these videos was focused on making money. It's better if he's main motivation was to help other but in reality the affect on other is the same... My point is what important is the end result not the feeling

@The Flaneur What are you assuming, who said to fix all things, and were not full of ourselves its in our NATURE to help those who we see are suffering, those patterns show when we look back in history. And yes, your room has to be CLEAN in the context of your analogy in order for you to be at peace with yourself. I agree on the notion of stop trying to fix the world, also death is something that gets us all, so why are we wasting time being miserable? do what makes you happy, your time here is limited, it should be fulfilled in doing what you love, where we go after is undetermined and we shouldn't worry too much about that. So if doing what you love includes HELPING others, then so be it... where would we be today if we only prioritized our 'own room', the world is by no means perfect but look how far we've come in terms of human equality anyway

I don't get it. If you do what you do for money, power, fame, social status, then you do it for the wrong reasons. You should do what you do, for others... For society, for mankind, for tomorrow, to leave a legacy, to make the world a better place, to transform something that sucks. Look for example Elon Musk. Does he do what he does for money? He's already billionaire. For fame? He's already famous. Why then? He does Tesla to solve global warming. He does SpaceX to make manking a multi-planetary specy. So find your "why" first and everything will follow.

But you admit in the video that you are inexperienced. You still are. There are many motivations and frameworks for life between avaricious consumerism and a life of mendicant meditation. [Note: I couldn't stomach watching this mess to the end. If their was a big ironic twist at the end, I apologize. Otherwise:] Dude, this was one of the most cynical and ego-based accounts I have ever heard. If you want to talk about overcoming ego, you should maybe look in the mirror, as you have some work to do. Where to start? Instead of specifying at the beginning, you lauch on this general rant on RU-vid in general. I watch many things on RU-vid - cooking shows, videos on movies, videos on learning languages, thinks on philosophy, history etc. Your rant obviously doesn't cover all of these. I am getting a recipe I might want to make for dinner. I understand how RU-vid works and understand that another model works to generate revenue - in this simple example, they are all the same. So there are many RU-vidrs who don't push self-help books but may be selling their own content which you are free to buy or not. Then you launch into ths attack, apparently on being too PC. Bottom line: 1) If you say something homophobic, racist misogynistic etc., you are likely to be called out on it 2) You're going to be getting harsh criticism all of the time, justified or not, on social media. If you were too delicate to endure criticism constantly, you are probably not meant for RU-vid. 3) Most people do not have their lives "destroyed" - Yes, if some people say some really bad stuff online, they can be fired. Celebrities who say really agregious things can lose everything, but the equivalent was having an affair 2 generations ago. But most just have their bad 15 minutes of fame and the incident is forgotten. Again, part of the territory for RU-vidrs. Then there was the part where you railed about people not knowing anything around them - dude, that's always been the case in the world. If I take a hike to enjoy a park, do I have to be a specialist in botany, zoology, etymology, astronomy etc. to understand everything around me? It's kind of common knowledge that what we know is dwarfed by what we don't. It's always been that way and people always have said ludicrous shit, it's just that some people have a much bigger reach now. And then, to greatly summarize, you completely mischaracterize what mindfulness is and limit it to what you do. I used mindfulness techniques, from many sources, some from RU-vid, to deal with the devastating stress of caring for a parent with alzheimers for over a dedade. Mindfulness can be so many things to so many people, starting with even meditation and self-care, not only what you prescribe or defined mindfulness as. And lastly, you talk of the evils of the RU-vid model and how people can push their shit for profit, yet still have your own link to your book here for purchase. Was this whole video for ironic effect?
@Sarah_Berube

He doesn't have a book, he has book reviews of other people's books, and he shared a link that lets people get any audiobook on audible for free. He wasn't saying people should go out and examine every leaf when they walk in nature. It was a metaphor to explain how people don't pay attention to the contents of their own minds. You can verify this for yourself if you have enough time...which most people don't...which is what he was saying. Oh, and there was something of a twist at the end, too.

@@nigivlog3775 to build a passive income you need huge amounts of time. If it was to be 'just a car', they would buy something much less expensive, but with same stats. If you buy a rolls royce, you buy it for brand.

@@pj956 actually, you buy lambos and ferraris because it is super fun to drive them. You have a point, but not all rich people are arrogant and snobby.( I know you didn't say that). When you have money like Bill Gates, you don't think about buying something for ego all the time. It is sometimes a person's dream to drive in a lambo ever since little.
