Why I REFUSE to date in London | Embracing Singleness

I actually took a year off of women altogether when I was 22-23. Mostly because I was getting jaded from all the rejection. Started to mess with my self esteem. Take the time fam. Its ight

I feel like a lot of you dudes commenting about “tHe WaLl” didn’t watch the full video. You saw the title and got triggered. She’s said she’s happy not dating right now and is open to dating again eventually. Whether you’re Male or female, you shouldn’t depend on a significant other to make you happy. You should be happy with yourself first. So if the person leaves you’re not dependent on them for happiness. No sense in forcing relationships simply because of societal influence or age.

Self love and self care is important.

Yes!!!!!! I love this. If you aren’t happy with what you have, you won’t be happy with what you desire. Singleness is a gift. Most people/society don’t recognise this. I get so annoyed at how many shows, movies everything is geared towards having or finding someone. When life is so much more. I enjoyed my single life and I now enjoy married life, but only because we both did our personal work. Enjoy this season however long it is! Congratulations on choosing you. 💕🥰

i think this is very important. we live in a society where it's pushed onto us that we can only be complete and happy if we're in a relationship and it totally disregards that it's way more important to love yourself without having to cling onto someone or something else. so many people forget to focus on themselves and then are unhappy later in life. i'm only 19, but people are already pressuring me into finding a partner, when i haven't even had the time to figure out what I want for myself and who i really am. i'm on the journey to love myself and i think the idea that that's only possible when you're dating is extremely toxic.

Awsome mesage! I'm fortunate to have learned this & embraced the heck outta being single. There's a lot of perks! I'm getting married in a couple months & although I'm excited about our union I learned that him alone does not make or keep me happy. Happiness starts & ends with me.

Embracing and not running away from being single is really what shaped me as a person. Now, I know what I will/won't allow from anybody. Great video!

That's why it's important to still have your own life while in a relationship. It's nice to have love and companionship but It's ok to do you, the right person will understand this. If the relationship does breakdown you haven't lost who you are. Many times I've lost myself in a relationship and wondered why I felt unhappy. We learn from experience. Nice video and I hope you find the balance that's needed.

I Love your message with your own personal experience. Although I am a man I am currently going through the exact same thing kinda. After a 5 yr relationship ended, I felt the worst breakup hangover in my life. I too asked myself a lot of questions to myself as you did and even went on the I hate all women train. But finding myself through being single. I learned to love me first and foremost and right now I am more happier than I could ever be. Like you one day I'm sure I will date again but, for now being single is way better than attaching myself to the wrong one!

I'm quite new to your channel, I really enjoyed your video. It can be hard to open up to what you consider to be very personal topics. I went through a separation 16 months ago & found it really difficult at first, I hated being on my own (I've never really been comfortable with my own company) & not being with someone. But over time & after about a dozen counselling sessions , I learnt to enjoy some time on my own, to just stop & watch the world go by. I just got so fed up with obsessing about having someone to share life with, that I actually stopped living it myself!! So...I decided to stop looking for " Love " & have started to concentrate on me, my life, to start living it, having adventures & if someone comes along who wants to join the ride.... then so be it !! My adventures started with Mexico & Canada... Hawaii is next & then after that.....who knows!

Oh we about to get REAL today huh? Let's do it!

When you finally feel happy on your own and about yourself everything really does fall into place. 🦋

My housemates and I were having an interesting conversation the other day (I live we 2 guys and we are all 26 above) and he said that women come with so many attributes such as we try to maintain our looks, go the gym, career, hobbies etc etc etc. When sometimes guys just come with career and football on a weekend with mates etc (I am not generalising btw!).. but it's true if we don't ask for what we want we can settle with anything but the aim is not too! I'm 26 and all my friends are settling down, marriage, kids, mortgage etc and I'm doing my postgrad in London and loving single life, going out try new places out, focusing on education... but the self care is my priority. The right man will come in when the time is right!

32 here. So you know I’m past the time crunches that have been placed on us by society. Really uncomfortable at times but mostly fulfilling to focus on myself and my relationship with God.

This video makes me stop questioning myself. I thought I was insane or lost my mind thinking and wanting alone time. I’ve always also found myself seeking happiness on other things and people and never self love, everyday I’m called bitter for not socializing with others currently . No dates . I do speak to friends here and there but me time right now and these positive vibes videos have been exactly what I needed. So completely love how open you’re about this . Thanks for sharing my sentiments exactly. I am way older than you are and has been separated for over 4yrs from a 24 yrs relationship 17 of which were married, still married by the way. Since I have been single the happiness am experiencing scared me to commit to any relationship. I agree wholeheartedly to love your self first. Be comfortable and confident with your own company and you will never feel lonely. This is what I needed to hear. I went through a break up last year and literally pulled myself through with distractions- thinking I was healed. Now I have the same problem you had, chasing the next distraction(high) unsatisfied with my surroundings. Now I realise that I need to take time away and truly heal.

Paige, I am not sure how I came to watch this but I have to say you are wise beyond your years...there is plenty of time now that you have become true and happy with yourself which absolutely must come first, to explore dating and finding another individual that completes your happiness in life. There is as others have said, such an emphasis of what you are supposed to do and the speed in which you do it and there is no reason to pursue that timeline until it’s right for you. It’s wonderful that you are enjoying time in a different country too. I think Americans can be ignorant of other cultures and there are so many different things to experience outside of our own country. Never had a ‘dating’ stage once in my life, I decided young I wasn’t going to ‘look for’ or ‘force’ love because I always thought I was different, I literally never ‘fancied’ anyone and couldn’t allow myself to just settle for someone, I always believed when it was time, it would just happen, and at 27 I met a girl at a friends party, and we became friends, and for a year we became very close, without forcing it, and then one day we realised we were talking all day, everyday, and both had feelings for each other, and both decided, we are literally unofficially together, so we made it official, and we’ve been together two years now, and I can promise you, I know now before her, I never fancied or felt this way for another soul in my life, there’s no trying or forcing anything... it feels natural and I feel as at peace as I did when I was happy and single, now I have a partner that can share that happy.

Proud of you. Knowing your worth. Who you are, and whose you are is important. Knowing yourself also. We as women get so caught up in people, that we loose ourselves. Be the QUEEN that you were CREATED to be👸🏾

I was in a 4 year long relationship up until this January. Although I studied abroad in Ghana for four months in 2018 and we were still together, we came to a mutual decision to break up after I returned and assessed how things were going. I didn’t realize just how much healing and work God wanted to do within me until the beginning of this year. Some days were harder than others in the beginning, but as Jenny in the amazing movie ‘Somebody Great’ said, “when you let the light in, shattered glass will glitter.” It’s so brave of you to do something like this because it actually takes a lot of courage and self discipline. I can’t feel any more liberated and excited for what’s ahead: and I can’t wait to see what else is happening with YOU. But enjoying this moment right now is what matters most. I guess men and women are looking for the same things. I have been on just a few dates in the last two and a half years. I have been all over the world and even had a ten year long distance relationship. But it was not to be. I decided that I have an opportunity to be more fulfilled. I enjoy my life now. I am more focused and have really been manifesting my best life. November I will be starting a new business venture in China. This is something I could have never accomplished in a relationship. I know I will find love again but It will be from a much better position. UK is nice. Its especially good for black American men. I found that women really like the chase and the seduction in UK. This is so relatable. My ex and I broke up 2 years ago because he moved to America for school and it genuinely broke my heart. It was the worst thing that’s ever happened to me. A year later I moved to the UK for school thinking it would make me feel better but as you said, after the distractions and the honeymoon phase with the city, I quickly reverted back to crying and being miserable about the situation. I think I would be happier if I was back with my ex. He was the best thing that ever happened to me and also the worst. After all the frogs I’d encountered, I genuinely thought I’d found the one. I wonder if I’ll ever get over it

People honestly do so much when they are single and not seeking, you have time to also remember what makes you happy on your own. Self care is important in all parts of life.
