As a resin artist, I'm always on the lookout for new products that can enhance my creations, and I was excited to try out these pens after hearing so much about them. But after putting them to the test, I was left sorely disappointed with using them for resin (although they are probably great for makeup). In this video, I want to share my honest experience with these pens and explain why they didn't live up to my expectations. hey sweetie they are chrome powder pens and they are used in nail art, they work best over topcoat thats slighly under cured, its not mica powder in the cap its chrome powder i dont think they are really good for resin in my opinion

@@hayleymariemills PLEASE double check that the ones you bought are actually meant for use as eyeshadow! Every one of these chrome "pens" I've ever seen have been meant for nail art and contain very finely milled glass and metal along with mica and pigment. Definitely not something you want around your eyes!!

Wow, those actually came put fairly well. The clear works with it, I think, because of the shine. If you light it up from underneath,the light will give it an old fashioned candle light luminescence where as a white back-fill would make it bright. This is all speculation, but nevertheless, still came out really well. Awesome work! Thank you

I adore these with resin, I use them a lot. They are great for Christmas decorations. Best used on a flat surface. Use a dark coloured resin with them for best effect.

Hi Steve, thank you for that video you did a couple of months ago comparing 6 popular brands of resin,I went with your advice and tried the j-diction it's amazing, the one I had been using was very hit and miss, so thanks again.

I have used these and found that the powder does come through after a few seconds. Yes not easy as once of brush you then have to wait a minute or so for it to filter back in. I also found they do stain moulds if your not careful. Great idea steve to use on other mica 😊😊

I have ordered the chameleon ones from Petra Jongblood , her business is called just paint. They work great with molds and on top of resin. (I haven't seen her online in over a year though

Thanks for the review… I need to pick up some of the brushes… I use resin for my CNC projects and used the left overs in molds to make stuff (toys, jewelry, little fun containers) for my kids. But, I’ve never painted the molds. It’s looks like fun!

It was me who bought them on his group, his look different to the ones I have. Mine are fantastic as soon as you close the lid it's covered in the mica and fantastic for painting details especially on the word molds and stuff. I suppose it's like with anything some brands are good and some aren't so great

I'm the member from his group these are slightly different to the ones I have and mine are honestly the best invention yet! I use them all the time as soon as I put the foam in the lid it's covered in the mica. It's possible like with everything some are good and some aren't so good but the ones I have are fab

Yes I agree with Gillian. I baught the set but found that it just dose. It work with resin. However they are really worth it if you want to use them in your nails.

Steve, do the silver parts come off of those mica brushes, the bit between the cap and the base I mean? I wonder if they do to give you easier access to the mica powder. Just a thought. Put gloves on so your fingers oils don’t pull it away and be conscious of where you touch & ready to tidy up the areas where you had to push & pull it back to the right side out. It works well for me.. I spray the molds with spray release before beginning and that seems to help the micas stick. Happy Arting 🌹

Yes that works blow off as much as you can before turning it the right way round to minimise it going everywhere

So i have a question, more relating to normal mica powder. I've tried the technique that ive seen you use on multiple occasions, of putting mica power on the mold then filling it. When you do it it looks amazing but when i try the mica doesn't show as vibrantly, and is very translucent looking. Do you put something on the mold to help it?

It was me who bought them, these must be different to the ones I bought i, mine get covered the the mica as soon as the lid is closed there fab for doing details like writing on the molds and fiddly bits like the snake on the skull without turning the mold inside out and getting mica everywhere. Sorry the ones you bought aren't as good 😢

I thought that was a really cool product, until you tried to use it. It's a shame it didn't work out, but the brushes are pretty cool. The gnomes are super cute! I love how they turned out in the end.
