Hi George, I'm a complete beginner although having little experience with photography (milky way, moon...) and I couldn't find any video that would do a month by month recap of the main objects that would give good results and would be easy for beginners with a dslr, simple tracker (no astroguiding or Ipolar yet though) and quality lenses (200mm to 400mm about, IE SpaceCat51, Canon 400MM f/5.6. or alike). I know that Andromeda is best in Autumn for example and Rho Ophiucci and the Trifid are best in summer when milky ways shows well, all these targets showing large enough for this type of equipment but not much else. For example, June is there, July and August are coming and I don't know much about what target I really should not miss this month for someone with a simple tracker (as yours) but with onnly the integrated polar scope and the camera and lens I described above. It would be really nice, as, having watched a lot of knowledgeable guys videos (Nebula photo, Astrobackyard, P.Zelinka, astro this and that...) I didn't find anyone remembering may be how far lost one can be as a true beginner, and none did come with the idea of making such a basic year calendar approach video. Such video could be either made recaping the 10 or 15 main objects candidates for a beginner, giving for each a clendar frame that might be more than over a month sliding period, or by having a month by monnth approach whereas for each month would be listed/indicated what's on the sky that specific month, (as I saw you did for the month of May of this year). Both could have aa added visual ruler per object going from green/yellow/orange/red to instantly give an eye for how good the month is for a given object and so on... It could be done in many ways. If you know of any of such video, or intend to produce one later, let me know, any insight would be welcomed. Thank you and clear skies...

Alan, thanks for the post. You are right, people quickly forget how hard it is when you get started. I used to have the mindset of, why didn't you ask, until I realized sometimes you don't know enough to know what to ask. With that said, starting last month I have been putting together a few targets with recommendations (aimed towards beginners). At midnight the video goes live for my June recommendations and they are tailored perfectly for what you're asking. I'm also going to integrate some of your suggestions, thank you. Please check it out tomorrow and leave me some feedback. Additionally, subscribe and go through our videos. There is a lot of beginner oriented content. Thank you again for the post. Clear skies and uneventful nights.

@@astroventure2221 Thank you for your great insight ... I had already subscribed and liked each vid I watched, which is the least that one should for great content creators like you, offering us awesome insights and experience and putting it together. Thank you for that, and I will watch tonight your coming video. Best... Alain - Santa Monica

Ioptron polar scope has better illumination and better eye relief and much easier to use . I have both Ioptron and skywatcher

Can’t decide whether to buy the version with ipolar or not.. what would you recommend?

Rachel, Sorry for the delay, lots of great stuff in the works. To answer your question, without a doubt I would make the additional investment. Coincidentally, I'm in the process of helping a local Skyguider Pro user make the retro fit of the camera after a night of shooting and seeing the ease of my setup and accuracy. One other video that I encourage you to watch that I think will really seal the deal is this video on weight shift and reticles vs iPolar. I hope this all helps and I wish you clear skies and uneventful nights. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oRHWrhkDz00.html

Thanks for your great video. Are you still happy with the stock declination base? Some fokls said that is the weakest part of SkyguiderPro. Are you taking photos only for Milkyway or Deep Star object?

Just noticed on another video that you upgrader your base!

@@bobvila1010 Thank you for the compliment on the video. I encourage you to subscribe and like the video if you haven't already. The base is such a weak link in the system that I'm really surprised it hasn't been addressed by iOptron. You will find a link below where I address my change to the William Optics base. It is a large chunk of money, but well worth it. As to what I like to shoot. I like deep-sky objects and nebula the most. As a general rule, I rarely shoot the Milky Way with my Skyguider Pro because I'm shooting at 14mm typically and can collect plenty of light. But on occasion, I will use my Skyguider Pro. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9q7KgxPXWBo.html

@@astroventure2221 I ordered the one with ipolar and got it in the mail yesterday!! Can’t wait to try it out. However I have never used a star tracker and am not familiar with the parts/functioning, trying hard to go by the instruction manual. Leave for a trip out West Monday so hoping I can learn by then 😆😅🙏🏽if you offer any teaching sessions feel free to let me know lol. I am still going to watch your suggested video right now thank you!!! That’s so awesome that a local liked your setup and the accuracy it provides. Makes me feel good about my purchase!
